You are like a long lost brother. In my early childhood I lived in S. Philly across the street from the Italian produce markets. Dad was Italian. I left the east coast for the west coast in my thirties and couldn't find a decent bowl of linguine with white clam sauce since. So I learned to cook with help from you and a few others. Your videos are the best and your love of food is obviously genuine. Love you, man! PS - I like veg, but my kid would prefer no veg.

I just made this for the first time. The whole time I’m thinking this doesn’t have enough flavor. Doesn’t have enough seasoning. Then at the end when I put that egg and cheese in there oh my God, I thought I died and went to heaven. It brought everything together so well. This was really good. I’ll definitely make it again

When I was little and I wasn't feeling well my dad dropped me off at my Nonna's house. (Since both my parents worked) when I got there she was already boiling the stock to make something similar to this. It was identical but she had bits of chicken mixed in with some tomato sauce as well. And I don't know how or what magic she did but it made me feel better INSTANTLY! And to this day it still has it's affect. She doesn't make it that often because she is 94 but she will still make it every now and then and it works like a healing spell

I grew up eating it the first way. As an adult, I throw in whatever veggies I might have on hand: a little onion, carrot, celery, spinach, etc. Frozen peas or grated zucchini is nice too, particularly if you have a nice small garden zucchini. They are so sweet. I've never tried it with the egg.

I am not Italian by birth, but my sister and I enjoyed the Pastina Cure when we were sick as well. It was so comforting and my Mom made it similar to your first recipe, but without the cheese and olive oil. She cooked it in chicken broth, however, sometimes homemade sometimes canned. Makes me want to go out and buy a box. LOL A box of di pepe too, that looks VERY yummy as an alternative.

I have now made this three times since I saw it posted a couple weeks ago. It's the perfect, easy, healthy meal. Planning to make it AGAIN when mom descends for Thanksgiving holiday for the long post-airplane-angst-y- travel-void comfort food. Prepping the veg/broth tonight so that I just have to toss in the pasta, cheese, butter, eggs when she gets here. Loaf of home made bread? Heaven. I wish you could really know how much your videos have hit my cooking life. It started with cacio pepe, and so many others, and then recently, on to that wonderful roasted Calabrian chili sauce (I grew Calabrian chili this year because of THAT sauce!) Gotta say---when you hit on a recipe, it's just always golden. Thank you so much. I really need to subscribe to your Patreon, if that's still a thing you do. It's nice to see someone who just kinda is so good in their own true skin. Rare. Keep on cooking.

Growing up in an Italian household, as a kid, I had lots of pastina, for breakfast or anytime, with an egg in it. The acini de Pepe, I’ve had, added to soups. I like your version a lot and want to make this healthy version with the kale. Actually, it’s Easter night and wanted something so I had broth, added some left over chopped veggies, Pepe, thickened a little with farina, & cheese. So good. I actually made pastina for my kids and Grandkids too.Thank you, Rob from NJ.

We also do this a lot in Spain, specially kids love it. Yet, we don't use any butter or parmigiano. I believe there is no need to use those ingredients in practically every meal. For us the key is in the broth, that's what brings all the flavours, also veggies and egg are a nice addition.
