Pasting Graphics Into PDFs in Preview 

This is incredible. I've been searching for a way to add graphics to a PDF in Preview and was always told it wasn't possible. I've looked extensively, so hearing about this for the first time is enlightening. It's surprisingly simple, yet it's essential knowledge. Thank you immensely; this is truly fantastic.

I always learn something new from your videos no matter how mundane the topic sounds! This is a great way to paste a more realistic signature image than the standard signature insert in Preview.

I found this technique some time ago after getting very frustrated with seemingly not being able to place/paste images onto pdf pages. Extremely useful and easy once one knows it.

Thanks a lot Gary! I found out about this method in approximately 2018 and used it for my studies. Recently I wanted to try it again and it didn’t work and I couldn’t find out why it wouldn’t work. I thought that MacOS changed the way it behaves, but now I know that I copied the picture in one file and pasted it onto the PDF without pasting it in the PDF file with the image first. Thanks a lot, now it works! 😊

Interesting! I use a similar technique in Pages 13 by setting up a custom text "STYLES" document for housing all of my oft-used and new custom text styles. Once loaded, I can Cmd ` back and forth between a new document and this Styles document and employ the Opt-Cmd C | Opt-Cmd V technique to apply the relevant style to the text selection in the new document... Frustration was the Mother of Invention!

Thanks. That's brilliant! I have been looking to do this for ages. I often have to add signatures to PDFs. The built-in signature editors in Preview won't let you import an existing graphic. It lets you create them from scratch or photograph a hard copy. Photographing the screen of an open image is a bit hit-and-miss. And thanks for pointing out that the graphic can be rotated with a trackpad. I hadn't realised that.

wow thanks so much sir, this is really a very interesting trick! I just had one doubt. Does Apple specially appoint people to deliver these tricks to you? because if you are actually inventing these on your own then you're really very creative and like to mess around randomly with stuff a lot 😅 Anyways thanks so much, I think it is safe to say that the Apple products are truly incomplete without you 😊

I also use numbers to put PDFs on to. Then I can put "invisible" tables and graphics onto the PDF within the numbers sheets and I am able to do formulas and other things. Then I can print as PDF and it will make a PDF with all my graphics and completed formula results.

Hey Gary, should I leave external ssd's mounted on Mac all the time or do I need to eject after each use? I am asking because sometimes I experience the disk ejection error once the Mac wakes up.

I am running Sonoma 14.2.1 on my Mac Studio. Copy doesn't work for me as per your video. But right click copy image does, after a select all. Are you using 14.2.1, if so, I wonder what is going on ?

Does this work because behind the scenes, macOS is using Postscript to display objects on the screen?

Nice. You are mac guru. I got three questions today: 1- I want you to plz make a video on how remove adobe software (illustrator, photoshop etc) asking for unlicensed or expired directories and closing down on mac probably on latest Sonoma version. So many people are currently facing this issue and i removed photoshop because it was crashing in each 10 seconds. It happened after the latest Sonoma update and previously I didn’t get such issues. Some guys talk about removing AdobeGCC file but that doesn’t fix the issue. 2- My 2nd question is different than this. Plz you might have a video on removing an App completely from Mac without leaving a single trace. No cache, files leftovers etc. 3- i have external HDD to my mac m2 and each time i search a file on that HDD, i need to index it. Without adding and removing it, it didn’t search files and folders. It will work for few minutes and then i would need to add and remove again in the spotlight search to index it. Any permanent solution? Thanks

Hi Gary, thanks but a problem! I was looking to do this when your video came up. However, the second image object remains on top for the first. How do I select this for a second time??? (I did the procedure as you demonstrated. Then, I attempted to reproduce the procedure to show my wife, but I failed... and looked like an idiot.)
