This is the best recipe I’ve used for this. I have 3 Grandchildren whose father is Greek so I’m a Yia yia now. Athena, Alexandria, & Anesti they love Greek food
We just had a Greek restaurant open and ppl are raving about it. So I had to see what this was all about. But you always make everything look good!! I can't wait to try it! 😂😂❤❤
I just googled her name and the Courier Post did an interview and she says and I quote...she comes from an Italian American family. Her father was Italian and her mother English & Irish.
I can’t wait to make! Thank you X 100 for your recipe. I’ve always used Misithra (sp) cheese Which I love, but now I am definitely going to use KefalaGraviera! In fact, I’m on my way to the Greek import store near me right now (besides if there’s any graveria left over, I can always make saganaki). . Kaly Anastasi!! ✝️
Pastit (seeo) that’s the correct way to pronounce it, and yes the cinnamon is a must ! Regards from Germany 🇩🇪 Michelle and yes my family came from beautiful Greece 🇬🇷 ❤
Ooooh! One f my favorites! It’s ages since I’ve had it ‘cause the awesome local Greek restaurant closed , and they made the best _everything_ !! Boy, I sure do miss their glorious moussaka
I add steak (that i grind) to the beef. Everything else is normal Beyond delicious. So much that even when I make lasagna. I make a parmesan becheml to add in my layers.
I made this for an Audubon society potluck where everyone said they were vegan and vegetarian, yet they literally demolished this and I came home with an empty baking dish 😅😊🎉❤
Goddess! I love this dish! So yummy- Thanks Shereen! I have turned up dairy allergic! Boohoo. Searching for acceptable substitutes- can you make suggestions?
I don't like kanela for pastitsio. Also I like double cream and less pasta... Your pastitsio though was cooked correctly. I use nutmeg instead to mince and I sprinkle some on top along with cheese. I'm Greek and really proud for such foods that we have... Also spanakopita or gemista...
This recipe totally has Italian influences, from the name (Italian: pasticcio, mess, pie, pasty) to the pasta inside. Looks like a Greek learnt how to make pasta al forno and then gave it their own Greek spin with the Greek cheese and cinnamon (which Italians don't use in savory dishes)
