mel keiper be like: nah he’s a little rough around the edges, has a weird throwing angle, and really sloppy on his feet. i think he’ll be a late 5th round guy
Didn't they have Jimmy G at the time? I can't remember. If they did, it makes sense for them not to take a quarterback. Furthermore Jimmy G took them to a Super Bowl they probably could have won if Shanahan had kept running the ball. That is a much forgivable situation than the Bears passing on Mahomes and trading up to get Trubisky.
Reminds me of when Dad took me to a MNF game in Pittsburgh against the Bengals. The Steelers were winning easily so the Bengals sat Ken Anderson and put in rookie Boomer Esiason. One of his first plays, he tossed the pigskin from his own 20-yard line to the Steelers goal line. My jaw just dropped. That's the only thing I remember from the game. Amazing throw.
I was lucky enough to be able to go see the Miami Dolphins vs. Buffalo Bills on a Monday Night Football game and we had end zone seats about 15 rows up. In the 4th, Marino absolutely LAUNCHES one to the end zone from about his 20, I swear the ball went so high in the air it came down with snow on it and it was coming down right at us!! all of a sudden Mark Duper grabs it in the corner for a TD and the crowd went Ballistic. I'm not a dolphins fan, but I will never forget that throw as long as I live and am still amazed to this day how high that ball went up!! Dan Marino was a legend, SO glad I was able to see that.
Joe Montana taught his weak arm while recovering from surgery...there's nothing new under the sun...if you want something new under the sun wait for a post season from them.
@@Aj_470 One bullshit offsides penalty away from beating the Patriots and going to the Super Bowl. I think that qualifies as a (decent first) postseason.
Fuck Gardner minshew. He better thank his lucky stars my team sucks and made him look good. Dude is a flash in a pan and once he has to put up more then 20 points he's fucked......cool guy though.id party with him.just not a good football player.
@@rticle15 in a game, i dont think anyone has enough time to throw a 100 yard pass in a game, but I think lamar jackson threw a 100 yard pass before its not impossible
@@nylonyt228 the pro bowl held a qb challenge up to 2007. One of the competitions was longest throw. The record when it ended was 80 yards. The winner was typically around 65-75 yds. I suppose it's possible that Jackson could throw 20 yds further than any qb in history up to 2007 but I'd have to see it to believe it.
@@nylonyt228 Bruh Lamar Jackson couldn’t even throw it 70. Quit lying. Especially not accurately haha. He’d just take off and run before the receiver even turned around for the ball
Unless my math is wrong that was 75 yards. He started from 28 yard line and ball caught about 3 yards deep so 72+3. Not 80 but still one of the longest throws I’ve ever seen. Josh Allen threw a few that looked about 80 though in a scouting video! Cordell Stewart threw 74 yards in the air during a game with clear footage. I throw about 60 yards so I only know a handful of people personally who can out throw me but this truly is amazing. He buries me lol!
Brady Tylenol point being is what is the big deal about even showing it? Yes Mahomes has a great arm but others can do it also! That is my POINT!! Do you understand?? 🤷♂️🤷♂️
@@worldisfilledb lol I saw a video of him in 2016 and knew he would be a super star. This is not the first time this has happened because some people have an intuition about who will be good. Ask fantasy football champions, intuition is how they win the league.
testeverde threw it 80 yards in 1988. PM released it at the 27 in the video and had it not been caught it would have landed 4 yards deep by my eye, so 77 yards total. He claims to have thrown one 83 yards but surely it was with a good tailwind. Too bad there is no video of Bert Jones throwing it as far as he could.
Released at 26 yard line and id that just drops and he doesnt catch it you can clearly see it would go at least halfway so at worst thats a 79-79 yard piece MAYBE 80. Watch ot in .25 plz the ball is literally released at 26 and especially look where its catched
He let it go at the 27 and it was caught in the middle of the end zone. If it hadn't been caught it would have hit about 6 yards deep...that's 79 yards...calling it 80 is pretty accurate.
Some Guy Thank you AGod has 12 in game air yardage bombs between 70 and 80 air yardage yards from Thanksgiving 2010 through the cardinal game last year when Mike got fired afterwards. Mahomes needed perfect conditions to throw that ball 78 yards. ARod had an alien throw Week 3 in 2016 vs Detroit at Lambeau that he released rolling left, with his body twisted with both feet off the ground like only he does and the ball went from the 27.5 yard line to 3 yards deep in the endzone. Mahomes couldn’t throw a ball 50 yards from that lack of a platform. I’ve witnessed ARod throw 85-88 yards at Packer training camp with no pads on. The MoTown Miracle Hail Mary went 70 yards even but sports science broke it down that if he released it from his normal arm angle instead of intentionally almost hitting the Jumbotron the pass would’ve gone 85 yards and into the first row of the crowd. Mahomes longest in game throw through 2 nfl seasons still only 68 yards. ARod laughs at anything under 70. 💯💯👌🙌
WadeCounty Mafia thank you! Everyone I know is an Aaron Rodgers hater. It’s nice to finally meet someone else that knows what they are talking about. Remember that one game where he threw 74 on a almost full sprint rolling to the right?
How far someone can throw the ball is COMPLETELY irrelevant to any criticisms made. Does a music reviewer have to be able to make a better album than the one they're reviewing for their critiques to be valid? Absolutely not. The same goes for sports. You can criticize any player for any reason and it's valid, as long as you're not claiming that you yourself are better than them. Then that's probably incorrect lol.
I was at a Buccaneers preseason game when Dilfer was QB. Seats were a couple deep in the endzone, Dilfer drops back into the end zone and just launches one. I don't know how far it went but my jaw dropped cuz he was only a few yards in front of me and it looked like it got shot out of a cannon. I had a good arm and it was something to see. Guy couldn't hit the broad side of a barn but it could fire it.
I can throw 55 in the air with full run up and throwing out of my shoes. To think someone is just popping on and additional 25 yards is unreal. Super strong arm, super talented dude. Insane
Why? He has had 25 to 30 games that he lost count as wins, a few playoff games he lost as win and a few Superbowls he lost some how turned into wins. Brady helps pay refs
He might even win two league MVPs, and maybe, just maybe, three Super Bowls. Might even be the first guy in 20 years to win back-to-back Super Bowls...
Big deal...I once threw a grenade 80 yards into a Panzer hatch killing the crew while parachuting into France during WW2 and I did it without an agent mind you. 😬
Kid looks great would be my number one qb in the draft which I did have him at... Oh wait Reid was criticized by chiefs fans for moving up and drafting him....
Man, with how talented this guy is he's gotta have equally talented siblings that don't at all try to draw the spotlight to themselves at the potential expense of his success.
So the consensus is that the pass was between 75-78 yards. I agree with that but you gotta look at the fact that the guy caught the ball. if the guy would have let it hit the ground, im willing to say that was a legit 80 yard pass. absolutely amazing
that was a pretty decent throw. maybe this kid will go to the nfl one day i wish nothing but the best for him. hopefully he gets recruited to a D1 School. definitely would be a great quarterback in the nfl maybe even go to the super bowl one day 👌
Ya, he can throw long... but not really accurate. Kids a bust. Mark my words. He will never amount to the hype. Chiefs are going nowhere big. Maybe they win say 5 or 6 Super Bowls... it’s not like they are going to win the next 10 straight or something. Come on.....
@@seanmurphy4465 pat mahomes wasnt tht good coming out of college, he said tht in a interview tht andy reid helped him read coverage's.if he went to the bears he wouldve been a bust
this guy has potential , he might even make it to the super bowl in 2022 , hopefully he doesn’t get defeated by some team that hasn’t had a good year in 30 years , that would be tragic
Some team that lost to the Rams in the Superbowl this year? Is that the team you’re referring to? They have yet to win a single Superbowl... That’s pretty pathetic if you ask me.
Although ive never played pro Football , my record throw was 123 Yards , Yes Yards 370 feet back in the Mid 1980's . I never had a chance to play on a team as we always had work to do on the farm. I enjoyed tossing the ball and i often thought it would have been great to play, I also only 5'6" and weighed 130 lbs at the time . Only a few people ever got to witness this back then as they were the ones catching my throws and were amazed . Just goes to PROVE that size isnt everything . An old saying back then was the bigger you are the HARDER you Fall. And good luck in catching me as i was a Very fast Runner as well . Many of my friends have said i missed my calling , but i Never had the oppertunity nor means to play on a team .
@@HashWagon I figured I’d give him his 80 yd credit after looking multiple times. Also, the difference between pass and throw in this particular event??? Maybe in a game.....
@@wheredastacksat4369 that was 4 yards into the end zone ….end zone is 10 yards and it didn’t quite make halfway. So it would be 77.. max 78. Regardless the point was it was a hell of a bomb, but it was not quite 80, and you trying to correct him was also wrong.
Give this kid the most explosive WR in the NFL, the most dependable TE in the business, a great OLine, & a creative playcaller & I bet he'll be pretty good. Give him half or none of that & he'll be Jay Cutler.
