Peyton Manning turns down a HUGE deal for MNF. This is a clip from The Pat McAfee Show live from 10am-Noon EST Mon-Fri. SUBSCRIBE: / @thepatmcafeeshow MERCH: store.patmcafeeshow.com
ESPN can simply try to get someone who already calls games for CBS or Fox. Problem is they seem too keen on home growing their own person and having someone to be entertaining as well. Nothing wrong with the latter, but you can get a great Xs+Os guy like Charles Davis or Rich Gannon or Chris Spielman and get a third memeber like Macafee to be your entertaining figure.
Revisiting this because it turns out, Peyton was going to give us a bigger gift than Monday Night Football. MNF will never be the same post Peyton and Eli.
@@jeremymenning56 Does he do games for the Patriots on the radio? If so, those guys are insufferable. I hate it when I hear clips of plays where they use those guys and to me it automatically ruins the whole video.
ESPN: Hey, we got Manning to do MNF. Media: Oh, you got Payton Manning then? ESPN: No. Media: Oh ok. So you hired Eli? ESPN: No... Media: Then who? ESPN: Cooper Manning...
Cooper was actually nasty at football until he had to quit cuz of his spine. He would have been a Hall of Famer reciever in the NFL if it wasn't for that making him quit playing in college
deathsyth8888 couldn’t even get him... should’ve gotten Peyton Manning’s nephew who’s a freshman in HS. Gotta get the boy his first job somewhere small, right?
In the reality of people like me, who don't have cable, Monday Night Football doesn't exist anymore. The fact that is nearly exclusive to cable is why myself and no one I know watches it. Maybe try putting those games back on broadcast ABC where they belong so more people can watch? I think that is the root of the problem.
I agree 100 percent . I never watch Monday Night Football anymore . They should go back to Sunday " Day " games and do away with Thursday night football. That would make " Monday Night Football " special again. And bring back Hank Williams Jr .........the Nation jumped the gun by throwing Hank under the bus .
Really enjoy when you guys put out the longer videos I always get so sucked into what they are talking about but almost never have time for a full episode
I could see Peyton considering it when all of his kids are grown and off on their own, that way him and his wife could treat the broadcasting schedule as some sort of mini vacation.
KevinDaUnicorn exactly and same topic but not the most entertaining personality like max (only excelled in boxing) molly is trash mediator , Stephen A is awesome when cowboys lose and knicks rants
How would that be possible though because they’re both color commentators. People in the RU-vid comments are trying to get Romo and Manning together don’t understand how commentating works. You need a play by play commentators and both of them wouldn’t be the play by play. Unless they want a 3 man team but a 3 man team never works.
3 man booths are hard to make work (although they have had success at times). But I don't think you put two legends together. Both would probably rather be solo and I think typically one woukd like to allow both to operate independently to get their magic out. When NBC started up with SNF in 2006 they had two of thw best color guys ever in John Madden and Cris Colionsworth. But they didn't combine them in the same booth. I think you have to give John Madden respect and let him do his thing. So they had Cris in the studio until Madden retired.
Damn the story...I keep rewatching just to hear yall do the Monday night theme music lol. Especially with the crew doing the bass part in the background.
We're glad that you were drafted to the Indianapolis Colts. Thanks for being so nice to my young son when you met him at camp a few years ago. He was about 12 at the time and he told you, "Nice hit on Trindon Holliday!" and you shook hands with him and made him feel great.
They've got some good color guys doing college football they could use. They're now veteran broadcasters and a lot of them have broadcasted major games. It wouldn't be hard to put Jesse Palmer or Brian Greise in the booth and get an immediate upgrade. They could go Desmond Howard or Andre Ware. Unfortunately ESPN has fallen into this trap of having to find a former NFL pro bowler to be in the booth regardless if they can form a coherent sentence or whether or not they have a personality slightly better than a bag of sand.

As a long time fan of the NFL in general, but a die hard COLTS follower. I’m glad u were picked by Indy. U brought style and lots of attitude to an otherwise boring position. One of my fantasy football team names was “Here comes the boomstick”. I was at the game in Indy when Payton came back to town with the Broncos. Bro that hit on Holliday with like a minute to go in the first quarter was nasty. U definitely put the Boom on him with that hit. On a night that was dedicated to #18 being back in Lucas oil, that hit is definitely what is remembered most from that great night. U was a great player and ESPNs powers that be should have their heads examined for not giving u that job. The stand up comedy gigs and ur show are great to watch, but u being the focus of Monday night football broadcast that would be dumb not to let u be u. It be over for all other networks. Wait... maybe Trindon Holliday is part of the hireups for ESPN, that would explain why they need their heads checked!!! Anyway keep the funny shows coming they are great and u need to do some more comedy show, food for thought.
Peyton Manning could be THE Greatest Coach if he decides to do it. If I was a NFL team Owner, I'd throw 10 million+ a year for Peyton to coach my team.
McAfee and Perna for MNF! The Pat McAfee Show and That's Good Sports..Together...Roasting Players...Calling Plays...Yelling at the Colts and Broncos like fans do...Excuse me..I need a moment
It is pretty crazy how things have changed since I was in high school, and into my 20s. Back then, if you were in any way involved with, wanting to be involved with, or even just loved sports..lol...you would not have turned down ANY offer from ESPN. That was THE place for sports. I know..things evolve, and change (thank God) and it has been for the better as far as s[ports coverage goes..but, it really is amazing how much has changed in such a short time. I never thought I would hear the term...fighting to protect the legacy of Monday Night Football. That was a legacy I did not think could ever be in danger. I think moving it to pay TV was the first real screw up.
Yo patty they were talking about you on my local new in Australia!!! Talking about you getting you over here when Australian Football is back as a commentator!
