Cool video. Your description of turning the body into a whip is a great visualization and one that I think applies extremely well to the golf swing as well. Most new golfers try to use their arms to muscle the club, instead of generating power with their lower body and letting that flow down through their arms to turn the clubhead into the end of the whip. They also don't understand how pro golfers can generate so much power while looking effortless. I think if people making golf videos used your analogy and description, a lot of people would get a lot better at swinging much more quickly.
Why is he so low in avg if he's this good? Genuine question, not mockery. Is it an execution flaw (i.e. no hang time, bad accuracy) or fault of his team?
In my opinion punt average doesn't and should really matter, infact he's only ~3.8 yards of the #1 spot, it's so situational based on field position at the time of a punt, touch, directional philosophy and a number of other factors. Pat O'Donnell had the 3rd longest punt of the year at 72 yards also punt average doesn't factor in the negative effect of a touchback.
@Tekno Badger I’m guessing that you were looking at the statistic that showed up at the beginning of the video in which I am also guessing he just had a bad/unlucky first 2 games. (At the time of this game it was week 3)
You see that his plant foot doesn’t come up off the turf as he punts. He has tremendous stability at the point of contact and after. That was a wonderful video filled with great information.
He does not compare to ray guy he was the best punter ever in fact he was a number one draft pick by the oakland raiders Remember he even hit the roof of the Houston astrodome

Yeah, there's efficiency of form and all that...but, you can't take out the genetic factor of fast twitch muscles. You can have two guys with the exact same form in terms of efficiency, the guy with the greater percentage of fast twitch muscles is gonna be the better one. Fast twitch musculature is 100% genetic. No amount of training, lifting, etc...will change the composition of your muscles. You can train to maximize what you've got in terms of speed and strength, and, you can work on your form to maximize efficiency there...but make no mistake, it all comes down to what your born with in the end.
