Pat's vs Geno's: The Philly Cheesesteak Taste Test

When you visit Philly, you really must try a cheesesteak. And in Philadelphia, there is a long-standing debate about where you can get the best Philly Cheesesteak. There are two top contenders: Pat's King of Steaks and Geno's Steaks.
We decided to visit both and taste the Philadelphia cheesesteaks for ourselves. Check out the video to see who gets our vote.

Pat's is better, than Geno's hands down (IMO). However, Tony Luke's gives Pat's a run for the money. It's very different but equally delicious.

The Cheese Steak Shop in San Francisco rivals them! Opened by a relative of Pat's! Been eating there for 25 years!

My husband just returned from Philly and said the cheesesteak did not disappoint! Great to know your thoughts on this though because we definitely hope to go back as a family!!

That is the one thing I regret not doing on our last trip to Philly. I didn't make it down to South Philly to try the famous spots for Philly Cheesesteaks! Now I am hungry!

This was a great time to spend time. These cheesesteaks look huge and tasty. It would be interesting to visit these places and to taste this.

So fun story! I have had both and I have visited philly multiple times. They are both the bomb but my favorite philly is neither. There is a place 1 miles north of there place called Campos and it is the best Philly I have had by far!

Both were really good, but yes I think Pat was better. The peppers were actually pickled and very tasty.

This is on my food bucket list! They look soooo good, but I refuse to order one if I see it on a menu. I want the real deal so I guess I need to voyage to Philadelphia! Great video!

I think that is a good strategy! There are a lot of places that try to make cheesesteaks but they fail. Both of these places are amazing, it was a fun challenge to do.

People who live in Philly have many different opinions on where to get the best cheesesteak. The only thing they agree on is NOT Pat's and Genos. They're a tourist attraction not a place anyone here would go. My vote is Tony Luke's because it's amazing, but still has some of the charm of a local attraction if you're visiting.

EVERYONE seems to vote for Pats. I've never been to either, but have watched a lot of "taste tests" such as this. Giving it the eye test, Geno's bread looks better and it appears to be a little bit larger of a sammich. However they say Pat's is tastier and the meet is chopped more finely.

Oh yeah! Now this is my kind of of food. Never tastes either, to be fair and I do not know why but I would have went for Geno's.....maybe it was the less aggressive service but I would have been well up for trying both lol! Cheers Alan

Yes, both are good. Overall I liked Pat's better but the bread at Geno's was actually better.

Ha! I wish I hate healthier. I do like greasy food but there is a fine line. Don't get me wrong, I still liked Geno's just preferred Pat's because it wasn't so greasy. Pat's sandwich was not dry! Have you tried them?

That is one thing that I haven’t tried before but am interested in trying, but since I’ve gone vegan I don’t eat meat. Might have to find a vegan alternative

Hmm the cheese whiz might be an issue too. Someone should make a vegan option, I am sure there is the market for it!
