did.... did the best friends warp reality to cause metal wolf chaos to come back? what did they sacrifice this time for the world to bend to their whims?
'Tamriel is really generic' Only a man like Pat could look at a setting where a bunch of cats take so many drugs they literally fly to the moon, a setting where the sun is actually a tear in space and all that fire is the next dimension, a setting where it's possible to attain a state where you realise you're in God's Dream and it gives you matrix-like powers and say 'man how generic'
So can you point out where any of the stuff you've mentioned has a notable effect in the game instead of being Kirkbride's lore, or is even mentioned outside of limited background material? That's not even mentioning that the last game to touch on the stuff at all came in in 2002, and both Oblivion and Skyrim ARE generic as shit.
CHIM, Moon Sugar (i know you mentioned it but Pat being Pat may not connect the dots), Vivec (City and Elf), Ice Vampires and Sky Whales (tbf those last two weren't put in but they're still in my heart).
I've run the numbers: When someone in the room calls a sequel "[Something] 2," the probability that someone else in the room will chime in "Electric Boogaloo" is 100% It's a wacky, wacky phenomenon. But my data check out.
I saw him come out and thought, why is the destroy-build-destroy guy coming out here. Than he said his name and I went to, oh its that song from hellsing abridged.
It kinda boggles me how much people lost their shit over teaser trailers over games that we knew were coming. Starfield was leaked 3 yrs prior due to trademark and of course there was gonna be another elder scrolls. But man not having any hint of in-game footage makes me fear that it won't be finished within 3 yrs. As if they games are still early in development and isn't remotely presentable. But people are rejoicing as if the sudden existence means they can play it sometime in the near future. It also didn't help that Todd attempted to soften the "online only" aspect of Fallout 76 by saying you can still play solo. MMOs can be solo'd but that doesn't mean the game will accommodate for that choice. The Devolver definitely stole the show at the end with that miracle that no one expected and showed something for it.
It wasn't even anything like Cyberpunk 2077. I was disappointed that it was also a project we knew about that had no gameplay, but at the very least Cyberpunk showed what kind of narrative they were going for and the world. Starfield and ES6 just showed an extremely short clip of cinematic landscape. And as Pat said, not even a subtitle. Look at Shadows Die Twice and DMC5 that was legitimately a surprise AND showed some gameplay.
Patricia Luna Same thing for Wolfenstein. It barely showed anything but its supposed to come out soon. I have no hope, I feel like Bethesda comes on stage just to jerk off now to their games releases two or three years ago.
That Power Armor guy could be out there because he simply was not allowed in the vault and understands there is nothing to be done at the range he is going to be at when the nukes hit
I feel really bad for Andrew WK, on one hand the performance of [Ready to Die] was pretty lackluster, but regardless of that E3 is really not suited to playing for metal punk (or whatever genre you'd describe his musical style as). Playing actual video game music too introduce or accompany trailer like Sony in E3 2016, sure, but while people do come to E3 (and watch E3) come to get hype, not to headbang (there are some exceptions, but contrast Mick Gordon playing Doom 2016 music at TGA, the medleys TGA had in 2017, and all the random bands TGA's had playing). That aside, all of the actual gameplay Bethesda showed was alright, and the announcements all have promise, it's just that aside from Todd Howard (who is a total dad, but has charisma) and Pete Hines (who is competent and boring) the execution was really sloppy.
Fallout 76 made me a bit put out after finding out it's online, still interested but eh. Doom: Eternal is mad hype for me. The rest is either an "eh.", a "bleh.", or "hmm." But the _REAL_ star of the show was Andrew W.K's performance for Rage 2. I don't care if it's jank, that's my shit! I *_LIVE_* for this shit!
Admiral Pepper my impression is its a Destiny with base building, farm to your hearts content or hey, send a nuke to your neighbor and turn it to a raid zone, why not, the night's young
I absolutely adored Andrew W.K.’s performance! I love that song and the idea of him being the guy that hosted Destroy Build Destroy on Cartoon Network makes me giggle. Plus, huge props to him and his crew for getting us their on stage and keeping the performance up for a clearly uninterested crowd.
Drakilian LastName it's a twitch recording, they're trying to respect the people who GAVE them MONEY. how can this be an issue for you, this is youtube. Just skip it.
Bethesda did alright. I need to see how much content is actually in Fallout aside from multiplayer shenanigans before I can judge it. I have a hard time understanding why so many people fervently dispise settlement building. That mobile Elder Scrolls didn't look half bad. I think Bethesda's community is WAY too critical of shit. Like, the bugs yes, of course but neither series is some sacred cow that should always be the same.
I actually kinda loved the base building? like yeah, the rpg elements should come first imo, but i just loved making little ramshackle settlements. kinda scared about the full online thing they're doing tho...
Richter The D the problem with the mobile game is its an action game on mobile and theres a more elegent solution to thumbs being thumbs, Legend of Grimrock/Etrian Oddyssy dungeon crawling
It's not just "people", it's the fans of the series mostly, because they were into Fallout it for the lore, the RPG and exploration. They find base building and resource macromanagement tedious because it's just a different personality trait that they don't have. It's a bait and switch, kind of like going to a gaming press conference and getting an hour of Andrew WK.
Gumshon Bethesda was shit about the lore and RPG elements in FO3 (and they've been removing those from TES since IV), I'm not sure why people expect anything different. The game should still have great exploration, at least. You got sbout six minutes of Andrew WK.
Scripting is out of the question, so are weapons and armor for balance reasons. So cosmetics at best, if they don't do the "validate game data" thing to prevent cheating.
Andrew W.K is alright, he released a whole album that was an english cover of OG Gundam songs that sounded not-dreadful. That's the limit of my appreciation for Andrew W.K, but anyone who can make an English version of Char ga kuru is an alright guy in my books.
In case anyone didn't realize, the Skyrim Very Special Edition on Amazon Alexa is a real thing that actually works just like in the trailer, only the other 3 versions were actually jokes!
Ok so I knew that Devolver digital was a thing and I was vaguely aware of their thing last year but o had no fucking clue that this is actually how they announce their games! This is fucking amazing EDIT : OH SHIT METAL WOLF OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT FUCK EVERYTHING ELSE
Apparently they teased it pretty hard on Twitter a couple days before the conference, which seems like a poor move to me. "Did you hear about the surprise Metal Wolf Chaos announcement we're doing? I hope you're so surprised when we announce Metal Wolf Chaos." "Surprise, it's Metal Wolf Chaos! Aren't you so surprised by the thing we already told you about?"
