Bridgetown DIY 2015. I asked pat to play this because at the time it was my favorite song of his, and I've never heard him play it live. I'm lucky he wanted to play it
It says so much about Pat as a person and an artist... That he says he's only played the song a couple times in every single person in the Room knows all the words. Its magical. I love this
Seriously! Shit man. I live close to Boston but I was living under a rock or some call a basement. It never occurred to me the music I was listening to was being played by the real life people and I could sing with them.
There is reason why every single video of him playing live consists of everyone singing along with him. When you think about all the people singing along in all those videos it really makes you realize how long his music will survive.
for me the song's about freeing myself from the idea of being a "Good Person" in a fucked up world that makes it impossible to do so. I dunno if Pat intended it that way, but.. that's why it's always felt joyous to me
Fucking love this dudes work! My young brother got me into him last year! Fucking Greatness. 🍻 Johnny, or Pat, or Michael Jordan, or Wingnut! All fucking great!
Something i noticed with both Pat the bunny and Will Wood is that they just seem to have spawned on an unknown place and people naturally flocks towards them
I've always found singing along to the more quite personal songs to just sound horrible, where as something fast paced with a bit of rage and a sprinkle of angst its like the opposite. it just makes everyone sound like zombies, there are a few moments i swear they were singing "one of us, one of us" we all like the song and know the words, lets let pat do his thing.
I get where you're coming from as a viewer on youtube. But gigs aren't about that, they're about being there and sharing a cumulative experience, and just having a good time. I know i'd be singing along; I couldn't help it
People sing it because they feel the lyrics as they are. Stop being so damn pretentious. Let people relate, it's only human nature. Seriously, lighten up. Who the hell are you to tell people whether or not to sing along towards a song that means so much to them? Oh, I guess you don't actually relate and maybe you're the one trying to fit in and projecting that you're 'one of us' yourself by posting this.
