Christmas eve in Eskilstuna, Sweden, opening presents. Mom, dad, my brother, grandma and grandpa. Santa Claus had just been there and dropped of a bunch of presents. Now it was time to open them! It could have been 1971. I was 8 years old. I got this single by a new band called Redbone. The song was called "Witch queen of New Orleans". Wow, what groove!! So two of the first english words I learned was "witch" and "queen". This band was not superbig in Sweden. But I never grew tired of this song. And the B side (B-sides was important in those days) was "Chant 13 th hour". A truly great song too! I love Pat Vegas voice!!! I celebrated 60 a couple of days ago. It was a surprise party organised by my best friend who always loved Redbone too but never had this special single. When the music started, the first song was "Witch queen of New Orleans". A bunch of people ranging from 30-70 immediately started to move their hips to this tune. That is what your songs does. It speaks to people and is instantly recognizable and unforgettable! I always admire the fact that they took the name, Redbone, a good friend of mine, who is a Chukchansi Indian from the Fresno, Friant area where the Vegas brothers came from, he told me that it meant half breed. I never heard them talk about why they chose that name although They were of Mexican and Indian descent. Absolutely love the music. So I said that I was too young and I missed ever seeing them in concert.

I only knew of their big hit song, "Come and Get Your Love", and I love it! ❤ It is one of my favorite songs from my childhood living in the 1970's.
