Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) Closure for Prevention of Stroke - For Clinicians - When to Treat? 

I had three TIA getting progressively worse at age 38, 38, 39. My PFO was discovered and patched in 2003 when I was 42. I am 59 years old now and have had no TIAs or stroke signs since closure. I feel very blessed to have gotten mine closed.

Why using a metal device? How about locally inducing septal hypertrophy instead?
