I guess that paternosters like this one would have never been allowed here in germany. Our paternosters have got cabins with ceilings / roofs, and there are panels between the cabins that stop the machine immediately if they are hit by something or someone.
Very cool but dangerous especially that sprocket at the bottom. And not many people who have videos of these have done the right thing and light up the video thanks for that. And thanks for posting.
I wonder what the safety features are. Maybe the hinges at the edges of the floors/cabs have something to do with it (i.e. when something is wedged between a floor and cab, the hinged panels tilt, triggering an emergency stop?)
Yes, there are hinges on the floor of the car and on the floor of the landing so that they'll flip up if you stick you foot out while standing either in the car or on the landing. I suspect there are also sensors that will stop the whole thing if someone flips up a floor panel. And there's emergency stop buttons inside the cars and on the wall at each landing.
