Realistic comment... jersey has so many hoods. And many people that grew up in it glorify it. It's not somewhere anyone needs to live and go through. Succeed, change, and get out.
I used to visit my cousins out there in the 90s and I used to think to myself “yo this shit rough!”. This was coming from a Bronx kid at the time too, I was from a more bricks hood, this shit was abandoned houses with backyards hood, you definitely still felt the atmosphere though no doubt!
My sister and I were driving one time and we had accidentally gotten lost on our way from Wayne To Ridgewood. It was a wild and eye-opening experience to see the ghettos of New Jersey. It was the first time we ever went to Paterson and we were in for quite a shock. It's a very sketchy area even during the day and there is always chaos happening there. Needless to say, once we got home, we made sure to buy a Garmin

My home town, but only when I was little... I was born at Barnart Hospital on Broadway (they tell me it's gone now) on the Eastside... My father grew up on the East Side and graduated from Eastside High (Fighting Ghosts) in 1952... My paternal side of the family came from Germany before WW1, and bought a house on Putnam St. (Riverside, not far from where the old gas works once were)... I don't know if the house is still there... My grandfather met my grandmother in NYC, married, and then moved to the East Side (Paterson) and raised their family... Later in the early 60s, my father met my mother, married her, had me in 62, and we all lived in a small apartment on Grand St., just up from the Cathedral, where I was later baptized... My parents moved out of Paterson when I was about three years old in 1965...
Wow graduated Eastside in 1952? Back then it was considered one of the best schools in NJ. It was a mix of all races and everybody got along. Its sad that 70 years later what its become and it seems races are more divided than ever.
@@scottmartin7042 - 1952 was also about the time the city's long standing mainstay, the silk and textile industry, began to move down South to beat the unions... By the late 60s/early 70s, most were long gone from Paterson, and the city was in decline... However, as the unions caught up with the southward movement, that only bought the industry about 15-20 years of grace at the most before it was decided to offshore all that crap to Asia!
Paterson is a bad place in certain eras like there’s some areas where you can just walk at night with no problem and I usually walk around those bad areas in Paterson at night and I haven’t heard or seen a shooting in years

@@Jhihmoac all true. Paterson pre-decline was considered a model city and had many wealthy natives. I still am there and its sad to see the decline of a once beautiful city. Today, especially in the 4th ward, its like a drug and gang free for all.
I was a social worker where the 4th ward was my area. I gained respect from most of the residence because I respected their area. One night I was out doing a welfare check for one of my clients and I got in a cross fire with 2 rival gangs and ended up getting shot in the hand. I thought I was going to die. The one gand( which all knew me stopped and ran over to me and drive me straight to the hospital and made sure I was alright. I quit that job the next day. Fast forward a year later I ran into 2 of the and thanked them for what they did to help me. They zmwere so excited to see me and said we will always have your back .
Drive up by Eastside park. My grandfather was THE only Black person to own 3 drycleaners in Paterson. One on Straight Street. 22nd ave, and Main street. I had fun growing up in Paterson. 10thn26forever!
I remember 1 night i drove out to paterson years ago to visit a woman i had spoke with earlier. I had stopped for a second near a hall where i guess they were having a party at. So i decided to go check out the scenery. Soon as i get out the car...💥💥💥. I hauled azz outta there.
I live in p-town born on fair street and dude need to be careful them young boys don't play im from 80's & 90's era it a new era like dude said they keep seeing him spin the block might have problems

It’s literally like 14-16 year olds that have been brain washed and wana make a name for themselves in their set and do some wild shit. We have a mosque right in the center of Paterson on Marshall Street. Never once in my life has anyone disrespected or tried anything criminal. Mad respect to everyone out in Paterson 💯
I grew up in Paterson. Went to grammar and high school. If each home owner, shop owner swept in front of their property, it’d help a little to keep Paterson clean. I’ll always be a Paterson girl

Ahhh the wild 4th.. Ive been all over the country and I am positive that the 4th ward, especially the streets that run between Straight Street and Rosa Parks are some of the livest, wildest, dangerous and filled with drugs hoods in America. Ive lived in Paterson and not every hood is this bad. But like Governor, Godwin, 12th Ave, Auburn Ave is straight up off the hook. All day and night 24/7 365 you can find dope. And not like one or two guys and you get lucky and find something. Those blocks i mentioned you can know absolutely nobody and just drive around there at 2am and you'll find a bunch of people trappin..
I'm going to jersey next week. Coming from the West coast Cali, I am very curious to see the difference living in the east coast compare to the west. Lucky I got ppl who live In jersey but Damm I ain't gonna lie, those streets do seem dangerous walking around in jersey.

Hey stop watching then. I'm not trying to scratch the surface. I'm actually originally from Paterson. I film the most active, interesting sections of any city. I don't film a section of a city just to say i filmed it, I film areas I know are going to get views. There are lots of places I go and film the same general areas several times and it always gets tons of views. I've tried lots of tactics and I know what works on this channel.
