Born and raised in Paterson, the people are cool but the mentality is twisted. I left and never returned. I moved to North Carolina, it’s country but better quality of life.
That's so true. In my hood, they have customers from the second the door opens, until closing, while the neighbors around it continue to fall apart. Sad.
I’m Peruvian and my parents and grandparents are Paterson OGs. They’ve been living there since the 70s. Despite the high crime rates, there are a lot of humble people with morals and family values. However, due to the environment, my family decided to move to Florida. However, there memories of Paterson will forever be in their hearts as it is their first city in America. Btw I was born in St. Joseph hospital.
@@ivanbortolotti1911 It's only dangerous if you're involved with gangs or you're hustling but if you just mind your business then no one will really fuck with you
Well I hope that's really the case what you said if minding our own business, because sometimes I feel like when every time I go around minding my business, I feel like someone who tryna get my attention for whatever it is some beef shit that I ain't getting down with because I know myself I'm mature to know what I'm doing and where I go. I've been around sometimes but not any streets where my mother told me not to get near or around the streets where troublemakers is around which there is some troublemakers everywhere. It ain't easy to be around the city, especially living in that city
You’re comparing apples and oranges. One of those houses can fit at least four families. That’s a lot of money coming in for the landlord. A house in the suburbs doesn’t bring in any income for the owner.
Born & Raised for part of my life in Paterson & proud but its SO freaking sad to know that We had so much history in this beautiful city and its all gone downhill as years pass by. Its getting worse by the minute. I drive these streets everyday thankfully nothing has happened but don't think its weird if you see a fight break. My people need guidance from the community. WE NEED TO INVEST IN OUR COMMUNITY.
I would feel stressed out driving around those neighborhoods, especially if I'm lost, but at home watching it I feel grateful that I never have to go there.
I went to Fenwick house in Paterson on market street. Crazy days , was way better then being in prison, we saw a lot just looking out the windows. As a matter of fact we always use to watch everyone from the windows...it was the closest thing to being a part of society again. Thank you for this video. Keep up the amazing work.
@Petey Pop does saying this make you feel good about yourself? Are you really that offended by people living in poverty that you wish to demean all of them?
skippy And that is where all sources go to keep up appearances! BUT the powers in charge have a price o pay for dereliction of duty to the citizens, irregardless of wealth and/or power. Every city has a Street/Cleanup Dept. which sweeps,, collect trash, etc BUT these greedy imbeciles have a plan which will surely come home to them for generations to come. Keep neglecting the poor!
@Petey Pop Some people can't handle the truth Petey. They have to be delusional to justify such a way of life. Its horrible how these folks have to live and deal with the drug dealers and killers. Imagine the old people who can't leave and are stuck in places like this... Its absolute injustice and ashamed that many places like this exist in America. We care about the world so much that we forget to help pur own people. And no, welfare doesn't help anybody it only makes dependency on the govt I say bring our troops to these cities and create martial law until it is straightened out. That is extreme, so if not that, I don't know
Thats the shit roads, NOT the car! Trust me, i live here n have a brand new car. I CONSTANTLY pull over n check my tires cuz i swear i hav a flat!! NOPE, just the shitty roads!!
😂😂😂😂 he drove down the hood of PATERSON of course this is what u would see y didn't he drive past the Eastside , upper Northside, Southside I'm from PATERSON never had a problem and never been poor every city and suburb has what some may call a rough side in it
Great video. Haven't been in Paterson (my home town) if your ever near 270 Madison Ave send a short video. My house growing up! Mad love for a cool video!
Lived in paterson during the late 70s,80s,and left sometime late 80s because it was getting rough . I remember going to eastside park and they actually had goats and deer that you could feed and pet the animals . they had water fountains, families having picnics , it was very nice then . I can't believe what i saw in this video so sad .
word …they had goats and deer at east side park!! my grandmother lived about a mile from there on 14th ave….with all the stories my family told me they never mentioned that …
I wonder how these politicians here in NJ are spending our tax dollars, every year i hear taxes going up but i never see any new roads being paved or cleaning services going around
Born and raised in Paterson and I moved away when life moved me on , Came back to see the old house and neighborhood and not one person could tell me when the earth quake hit! What a shame.
I was born in Paterson and grew up there until I was 15 and moved to SC. Shoutout to my peeps on East 19th by the Building. Ptown always been rough but it has some good peeps out there
Dam bro u right by my mothers house she by down the hill on east main and Amity we live right by section 8 towers but hey Paterson ain’t that bad there’s opportunity to leave u just gotta apply ya self and tbh these hoods ain’t that bad once u live in them cuz u get used to them but I moved out tho recently I live in Cali now but God Bless to all who still wanna make it out the hood there’s a chance 🙏❤️✅💯
RandyDicknose Nutsack “ and to be honest once you taste shit for the first time it’s not so bad after u keep eating it “ you may as well have just said that instead smh getting accustomed or use to something doesn’t make it ok or cool
The church y'all see at 6:54 is the church M.L.K JR gave his last speech.before being assignated.. I was born and raised there..to outsiders it's night are on Elm Street.. for Me it's Bel-Air And who ever filmed this..ain't take you through the hood.he just driving through the dirtiest areas
When it comes down to it it's not big buildings that make a great city it's quality of the ppl that have respect for others and themselves to live a decent life of working, taking care of their families not living the gangster lifestyle...
omfg dude, i'm on the east coast of Canada and if i drive around and show you my city you wouldn't believe it isn't yours. the houses the streets everything looks identical.
I'm from philly and I commented this on one of those videos but it's probably the same in this place. Homeless people often go out on trash day and rip up all of the trash bags looking for metal to sell (you hear them pushing their shopping carts like 2 or 3 in the morning when there's no activity outside). It happens like every week so everyone is beyond used to it/annoyed by it but won't do anything. It's not even good money either which is the annoying part.
Yep that's about what I saw when I drove through Paterson: bunch of able-bodied adults standing in their own garbage in the middle of the day. I saw groups literally standing in garbage on the curb
Same here. Out of curiosity, and boredom from being stuck home during the pandemic, I decided to take a ride through Paterson to see what it’s like. I have never seen so much garbage on the street as I saw there. And the banks of the river by Great Falls is just one big sea of trash.
Breaks my heart... left Paterson over 50 years ago. Went to Central H.S. , half a dozen or more movie theaters, parades, planters peanut man on main and Broadway giving free samples, Libby's Lunch, Falls View, the stadium, graduated P.S. #5 in 1960... You know what... even after viewing this video, I still miss the old Paterson...Even more now. It WAS a great city. Of course I lived in Hillcrest section, but also on Benson St. (long gone to the projects) and West Broadway. You can't shock a Jersey guy. :-) To think... Hamilton, George Washington and General Lafayette had a picnic on top of the falls way back then and came up with the idea to make Paterson the place to start of the Industrial Revolution... "Silk City" forever! (Live in Florida now... very little "history")
So what happened to the Paterson City DPW street cleaners that used to come around once a week when I was a kid??? Somebody doesn't give a crap anymore, but doesn't hesitate to point a finger at the people and blame them. Not to say that a little pride might go a long way. Call City Hall and ask when the sanitation trucks will be around, so the garbage can be ready for pick-up. Yeah... RIGHT! I guess I'm just out of touch since moving away so long ago. Sorry. :-(
If you want to see an offset check out Baltimore. Huge rats are running across the street in front of beamers and other really nice cars. Also the graffiti is pretty sick.
I was born and raised here I will never put down the place where I came from because greatness has come from here a graduate of Eastside high school and a nurse, raised my family here. It's sad to see that people dont care about where they live but I do care and no matter where you go there is a "Paterson " somewhere. Again I will never put down where I live you just have to want to do better.
i live here, the vid made it more depressing that it actually is lol. It aint that bad in the mornings and in the summer, just mind yr business and you'll be fine
Ok, windows locked, no valuables on me, no eye contact, keep wallet safe and hope for the best! Ok, now to click the video to watch! *checks for wallet* Awwww hell haw!!! Joke aside, great upload and thanks for sharing!
Wow!! A trip down memory lane...Born & raised in Paterson's 4th Ward went to school #10 & J.F.K High School now living in NC. I love the South & would never move back! But.... Make no mistake I love my City ❤️ Growing up in Paterson builds character you learn as a kid not to take nobody shit🥊 You had to adapt to what's around! And I wouldn't change that for the world 💯 #justakidfrompaterson
Most dangerous would look something like this : 1. Chicago 2. Baltimore 3. Detroit 4. Washington DC 5. New Orleans 6. Memphis 7. Newark 8. Bronx, NY 9. Philadelphia 10. Atlanta Worst looking would be: 1. Philadelphia 2. Baltimore 3. Camden 4. Newark 5. Paterson NJ 6. Detroit 7. New Orleans 8. Memphis 9. Cleveland 10. Chicago This is my opinion so far, but this will change as I visit these places more and visit new places.
Ya you will get shot on Jeff go around the corner on n main you get few holes in you if you not careful they dont play down there you buy 100 in dope and they robb yòur shit and knock you out stab or shoot you what ever they got at the time they dont care
There's a lot of corruption in Paterson. Former Mayor Torres was arrested for fraud and corruption. His brother owns a liquor store on Broadway and Summer St. Right in front of that store is where all of alcoholics and drug addicts hang out. The city officials don't give two shits about this place.
I live here and i can tell you, there's no fixing these people. I've seen them throw trash on the sidewalk while standing right next to a 50gal garbage can.
Reminds me of the hoods here in So Cal, like parts of LA, the IE (*Inland Empire*- San Bernardino, Rialto, Fontana, etc) etc. Only our buildings look different. Houses on top of houses with bars on the windows and 100 broken down cars in the yards. Tweekers everywhere.
I grew up there , went to school 5 and Passaic county tech. Work hard , stay away from so called friends ( if it feels wrong it usually is ) STUDY HARD and take route 80 west anywhere. Just get out
its actually not as bad as u think i live there and im still alive and nothing has happened to me, its literally just the people but if you DONT want to get jumped or whatever just dont fw those type of people i fw with those type of people and i lowkey love life and its really not that bad its just the image but u cant say nun unless u lived there PERIODD!!
Growing up i used to think i couldnt wait to get outta here. Watching this reminds me how proud i am to be from here. Its not for everyone but if you can make it here you can make it anywhere!!! Hey from California✋✋✋ ps Broadway pizza still the best pizza ever!!! Aint gonna find that in Wayne 😂😂😂
