A tip, The restless ward is a good starting body armour, at 20% quality it can have 350ish es, and 100% charge duration is so nice for builds can generate charges, like trapper and miners.
As a new player this league this is the single most helpful guide ive watched. Like yeah the build guides are a nice outline, but the specifics of going into each piece of gear helps soooooo much. you earned a sub!
Thinking hard about making swap...refilled just to try to build around this. Might be pricey since my totem build tea several uniques. Great tips thank you.
Did the switch to CI yeaterday after seeing ziggy do it. Only had to spend 10c and ended up with 8,5k es. This is my first time playing Es and Occultist, maybe the strongest defence i have ever played with. Good guide.
It's a minor point but thought it might help people, the pious path ascendancy node for Inquisitor grants you pretty much permanent immunity to ele ailments as long as you stop every 4 seconds which happens pretty naturally while casting etc, this means that dream fragments is pretty much a waste of a ring slot for a build that includes this node
Another good source for energy shield and offers additional defense: The unique "Ascent from Flesh" Belt. Gives Phasing and Movement speed during Phasing. Very good on Occultist.
@@gakutoo Havent been since the general nerf to es values. They had a dedicated nerf themselfes, they had up to 160 flat es before. They have no resists and obviously you cant craft on them (in particular not beast craft on them) but they DO provide some good dexterity. Even if you branch into the Trickster side of the tree, an ES build like the one here will have trouble getting all the required dex from the tree alone. No criticism, just being chatty.
this didn't help me deal with my own build but it DID help me reprice the white 5 links I found. and reconsider all my good rare items for sale ... thanks ;)
the spell shield cluster near in the witch tree ( just left of power charge/jewel node) provides a total +100% es from shields when you can get like 300 es shield between lvl 50-60 that's an additional 600+ and that's only at the cost of 3-4 skill points well worth it to me, I hit 3000 es at the end of part 1/act 5 and went CI from there.... it was like hitting easy mode first successful CI.
As of yesterday morning, Doedre's Scorn still changed hands for 2-4 Chaos and plenty of them were for sale. I got me one and it's absolutely worth it. Bane feels so good! :-D
Ive started the Vortex/Cold snap CI Occultist i saw in Ziggy`s guide he posted the other day. Did some research too and found same character build recommended by others and looked at their guides which are pretty similar to Ziggy`s. The only drawback is that up until lvl28 when you can use Vortex you get to use Freezing Pulse and thats weak af. But i did make some currency and bought 2 Lifesprig wands that im gonna use to level until i get to 70+ and save/make currency on the way for the endgame gear. Got lucky i guess and had my first chaos drop in the jungle in act2, also had some lucky regrets and regals drop. My main focus now is to level up and make and save, save, save currency
Primo. Trying my first CI Occultist this league, was trying to figure out how to do it least painfully. Knowing not to do it before beating Kitava is a good tip. Guess I'll be trying to scavenge ES gear through the story.
buy stash tabs stef. they not that much. but you can delve and make heaps of raw currency easly. just stay in lower range. neve know when an exalt is around the corner.
You are forgetting one big thing about CI/LL itemization: stun immunity. Way more important than burn/freeze since you will be stunned left right and centre with CI/LL and no immunity since stun is based off life. Not every occultist build even uses vile bastion for stun immune so I am suprised you missed this. I like to take chayula's over dream stride then run freeze immune on a flasks until I can get it on boots later.
So I started trickster for the attack speed since I wanted to have a go with soul rend, and just switched to CI. The problem is the skill feels really clunky without a ton of cast speed and it's not great on mana. Soul rend feels like an EB build, but that' not doable with CI. I've been using bane instead, but occultist would be better for that skill by the looks of it.
I am playing a soulrend ci trickster and i found a solution for it. I went with blight and cast while channeling. it feels way faster and the mana issue is solved aswell (using a lvl1 clarity tho).
Thank you the great video. This helped me out a lot. The one problem I have is that I don't think I have my skill tree set up just right. My ES is at 5K and it should be at 7K. Can you post a path of building link to help us out with the skill tree? Thanks.
I would not recommend wasting Dense fossils on getting your ES up to 380 on the armour. Chaos spam or alchemy orbs would be cheaper and get the same results. Just use crafting bench to hit whatever you need to reach 380+ ES.
Rime Gaze, Doedre scorn, bate breathe and rainbowstride are cheap AF because they are just that common. And yea, rare gear will be expensive especially the top one. That’s why I’ll mostly fossil craft this league during end-game.
Was to be expected since there are some very strong or interesting occultist builds now. I still made the mistake of going for a ci build, now I'm stuck at 5k es and can't afford better gear.
Hello! I don’t know if you respond to these questions but I managed to get two Energy from within drops and I have them slotted in both the slot next to melding and the jewel top directly below the elemental damage circles at the top (48% and 42% respectively). I have not yet purchased a good chest piece (using a Carcass Jack on a Vortex build, it’s my first time running it, as I’ve only run Arc). Is this optimal or should I be running something else? I am 76 with only 3350 ES as I’m gearing down from high Damage to survivability for High yellows and low red maps. My titanium shield gives me 255 and I have minimum amounts on the rings with none on my chest, helmet, belt, or boots. Sorry if this sounds amateur, I’m just trying something new and want to go CI but most builds never talk about the damage output and if I should be wrried about losing it for all that ES.
Which one is cheaper? Buying 5L white ES armor for 2-3c than spamming Dense Fossil or buying +400ish ES armor (5-6c) and applying Jeweller's Touch(30c)
Do you think that basing defense on uniques is a noob trap? I think I've played long enough to finally understand this term. Those gloves are excellent for curses, but are much much lower in ES then the current gloves I have right now.
Was going to go CI but decided to stay hybrid and see if I could keep going with it. Sitting on about 4.5k hp and 2.6k es with my trickster (I am also using MoM with 1.8k Mana unreserved). I have yet to run into a one hit kill or damage that I couldn't deal with up into lower level red maps.
@@_corvusgraves Here you go: pastebin.com/Bew1HzRU Thats my current character, I just cut down some ES to get better gear but its generally still fairly tanky. Oh and I am running molten shell so that I can trigger arcane surge since movement skills cost 0 mana on trickster. I need to find a better alternative, but for now that should be fine.
it affects any skill with the "curse" tag. since bane just effectively uses those "curse" skills, yes it affects it. It doesn't affect the damage, only amps the effects of the curses that are linked to it.
How much ES or EHP should I be aiming for starting maps if I rely on ES leech rather than recharge? On life builds I normally have 4200-4500 life and pots are good enough sustain, if i have more ES leech than life pot regen would 4000ish ES be equal?
Nice guide! I see that you are playing bane+soulrend, so small question: which occultist ascendancy node did you take first for this build, Profane Bloom or Wicked Ward?
The Bloofs from Bloom are really cool but unless you regularly encounter hexproof mobs or porcupines things die in one cast either way. The node seems powerfull but in terms of pure dmg it doesnt do as much as one would think.
I managed to get hold of all the gear, but to off color the Rime Gaze is not easy. Burned through all my jewellers orbs with the Vorici method and still didn't get it. Can Phase run be neglected until I manage to fully off color it?
Hi ZD im planing on playing a trickster ci there is a trickster aspect note that give eva for each energi on chest or some energi amount from chest eva. Any good info if i should go high eva, pure energi or hybrid on the chest thx ?
Why no love for The Vertex for the head slot? I find it's usually quite cheap, and the large amount of evasion to boot gives you a cheap 10-20% evade with no real investment.
There's a few things: cast a little more controlled, it's easy to overspam your skills and you dont often need to. Vaal cold snap also gives you time to clear without spending mana so you can refill. Mana on kill can help, mana leech enchant on boot can help for clearing. More mana and mana reservation reduction can also help!
My advice would be only turn on one of blasphemy temp chain and discipline. Use discipline for bosses or hexproof maps, and temp chain for regular mapping or delving. That way you have more unreserved mana to spam your abilities. That is how I did it in Betrayal. I did find myself sometimes running out of mana when I have
I used the Vaal Cold Snap/Vortex CI Occultist last league, and mana was kinda an issue until I added Arctic Breath to my CWDT/IC setup with bone chill, and I would use cold snap first once enemies got on my screen and if they weren't dead by the time they were about to reach me I would use my Vortex. Also a tip Ziggy had in one of his videos last league if you have mana issues use a mana flask and make it of staunching. That way you keep your mana up. Mana flasks have a lot of charges, so you don't run out, and bleed immunity is necessary for most builds anyway. Hope this helps, it helped me a ton last league. Oh and after I leveled some I was able to pick up a node or 2 of +mana/mana regen.
If you're really struggling get less uniques that have no res. Glove and Helm slot can both be rares. But it's not too bad to get your resists on a chest, ring amulet etc.
The problem is finding a cheap item with decent energy shield AND decent resistances. You can't have your cake and eat it too on a budget. Is it worth 100 less ES on both gloves and helmet in order to cap your resistances? I feel like high ES doesn't matter if you're getting one-shot by a volatile.
hes what i dont get in this energy shield. I still have life and shield. sometimes i die cause im looking at the shield and its full. But my life is going down and i die.
Around 60% of the playerbase is playing some sort of ES caster this league, prices were going to be high regardless. All I've done is shown how to get the gear needed for what is currently the cheapest available.
Everybody needs boots and rares are hard to find, use a placeholder pair for a while if you have to (without resists for example) and upgrade when prices drop.
Being fair, you can just buy good bases and toss dense fossils at them, the bases are like 1c each unless you are buying 5/6 linked chest and fossils are easy to self farm.
Your guide sucks! This doesn’t work in SSF! **Ragequit** J/k love the guide, can you do one for ssf? More focus on crafting your own stuff. Or make a video where you make an SSF occultist ES starter for “fun”. :)
@@stealthstyle1 Look at Waggles Guide from 3.5 "Gear crafting basics for Vortex Occultist". I had 10.6k ES in SSF last league with not that much time investment and a decent amount of luck ;)
@@stealthstyle1 Don't forget to quality up your gear. I really liked Hillock's Fortification Bench for that, much more reliable than Perfect Fossils, and can even be done after crafting the gear. If you feel lucky use Guff's Transportation Bench on Chest Armor, and chaos spam. Only thing you have to look at is the ES number. Otherwise Dense Fossils all the way. Only the Boots are tricky, Dense + Shuddering Fossils can work but can be quite frustrating, too. Good Luck!
If you need to be practically done playing your character before you can pick up CI then there is no point in building a CI character. So its a node that exists just to say "I did it!" but its actually a worthless node that holds no value. They really need to think of something to fix that.
Level 70 is nowhere near being done though, there's so much PoE beyond that point. For reference, level 96 is approximately halfway to level 100, and there are hundreds of hours of content at endgame compared to the 10-20 for the story.
@@ZiggyDGaming Pretty sure people get bored of there character by the time they hit 70 and either roll a new one or wait until next season to play again. There might be "more to do" but it all boils down to repeating the same thing over and over again for better loot. Addicting as it might be it gets boring if you use the same exact skill seeing the same exact thing every time. Some people stick it out till max level but most people quit long before then
