In this video we will be discussing one of the most complex, rewarding, and dynamic parts of Path of Exile, Crafting.
In a slight departure from my normal focus, this video will be a “crash course” on the basic or foundational elements of this part of the game, well suited to any skill or experience level.

I don't comment a lot on YT but this video warrants it. I've been following you for a while already but if this is the type of video you aim to do more of in the future, I promise you I will not only watch and enjoy but like and comment on every single one of them. I've always come for all the gold nuggets of information strewn across your previous eclectic long form commentary, but curated and condensed like this is insanely useful and enjoyable to me. Please please follow up with in-depth discussion on the various crafting systems. And if I may, I would also love a comprehensive video on identifying and exploiting profit crafting opportunities, e.g. starting by analyzing a widely played meta build and the profit margin on craftable items available in the market at that time, and the process of crafting and eventually selling the items.

Wow! Definite improvement in quality here. As a player with several thousand hours in this game who hasn't yet quite figured out what items other people really desire, I always find your content interesting. I definitely need a better understanding of what affixes are most desired for various builds. Thank you for working to help all of us learn more. The only suggestion that I have is try to be a little less formal/academic in the language that you use in these kinds of videos. I suspect a lot of people will be turned away by terminology such as "basal", rather than just using better known terms such as base type. Defining a term the first time you use it would also likely help newer players. I suspect that as you get used to the newer approach you are trying here, more of your personality will naturally start showing through. As for topics, I'm looking forward to more information on basic concepts around what to affixes just naturally make different kinds of items more valuable. Also, simple crafting traps to avoid, such as crafting useless crit affixes on a weapon intended for DOTs, etc. I'm also really looking forward to you going through each of the crafting methods you covered here.

Awesome video!! Just my 2 cents, I don't think you need a word for word script just bullet points, your natural charisma comes through way more when you are not reading word for word. Just bullet points to create order and flow and just fill in the rest.

Belton, this type of content is very valuable, thank you. However, it would be better to postpone it until after the new league is announced. Many players who may not fully understand the game's mechanics well might watch it during that time. Edit: I want to highlight the idea of dividing an item into three parts to assess its value. To be honest, this approach was new to me, and it surprises me how much I still have to learn even after spending 5,000 to 9,000 hours playing Path of Exile.

Hey Belton, ive been following your videos for a while, and from your changes recently im glad to see you have become Belton 2.0. You are one of the most knowledgeable streamers out there and for sure you're channel is suffering from indirect problems simply due to the complexity of POE. I would consider myself hard poe player with 2k hours on the game, and from my pov the more hardcore, knowledge based videos that take you alot of research to make are indeed impressive from a scientific approach. I however think this type of content is not for everyone. So pushing forward i would say keep this at a 15-20% of content, with the rest of your content more aiming to starter players or "beginner guides" of sorts. I think you have the potential to make better base guides then other streamers and this will secondly grow your channel more. There isn't a lot of new players to poe, however a lot of the recurring players dont ever get to a point in the game where the complexity mirror crafting type videos are useful to them. This will help you acquire the mid game type player of community which will also make the more complex videos more viewed as theses players grow in knowledge and skill to attain these projects objectives. Keep at it my man you are one of a kind !

I’ve given much thought to the phenomenon you’re describing, and having been trying to find a way to best strike the balance. It’s a nuanced dance that’s for sure ! Have always loved what I do because I pursue what interests me , and I think keeping that at the core of what I share will be the best approach going forward - keeping in mind that while I have 260+ videos and a decade + body of work, it’s not a bad idea to revisit “old” concepts every now and then, as it would be naive to assume that all new viewers are going to go back through the library of content. Like everyone else, I’m very impressed with the increased quality of the vids. But personally this felt a little “too scripted”. At times it felt like I was watching a formal presentation rather than an informative video. For me, that made it actually harder to keep interest. I prefer when you talk more freely with just notes or similar to keep you on topic

I ABSOLUTELY would like to see part 2! I can tell you my particular problems I'd love to solve. Maybe it helps? Let's say i have 30 divines in my name and i want to craft an upgrade for my chest piece. Great... Now depending on the method, how much item power i can get (and also RNG of course) so let's say i use essences and the average is 100 to hit a modifier. If i don't hit it in the first 70 I'll start settling with worse modifiers. This happens almost every time and i end up spending the 30 div but now i have a worse chest than I'd have gotten if i just bought something on the market. I have no idea how to fix that TBH. The second thing would be "reverse engineering" how to craft a really good item i see. Thanks sr! You are the best

I have played PoE since 2013, have crafted 244 original mirror items, have never made less than 100 mirrors in a league, and hold many world 1st and game-wide BiS items. I killed Maven, Sirus, and Shaper for the first time in June , 2024. Then and only then, did I attempt my first ever uber boss. For the past 3 leagues, I have hit 115 mirrors before hitting 115/115 map clears" YIN MY YANG BRO 6 MY 9 hahahahaha. I haven't watched a single second of PoE 2 content yet either. One thing I've noticed over the years, having always been a person that plays day 1 of a league until the last day... is that the people who live in the future the most with respect to PoE, are often the least happy. Rather than enjoying what is, they idealize what could/should/might be-- this is why every one of the 35+ leagues i've played has Reddit Doom posts for the first 7-10 days, then someone figures out the league mechanic and all of a sudden its the greatest most op league to ever exist. I usually find out what the upcoming league mechanic is in the 4 hours that the game goes down before the next league launch. I'm never the furthest ahead of day 1, but I am usually the only one still kickin' on day 90. I watched one of your (semi?)recent videos on why necropolis fell short and you mentioned that on a personal level it bothered you since you play the whole way through--- I know that feeling all too well, its cool that we can come to that place individually while focusing on such contrasting styles of play. Testament to the game.
