You know Kripp, I don't think the first 20 levels matter whatsoever, and I think thats the only real flaw with this whole video and with a lot of your spec choices. I can level to 20 without spending a single point in the passive tree. The first dozen points don't matter at all except in the overall spec. Now, what really DOES matter is if you have access to enough EARLY health nodes such as within the first 40 levels - in order to prepare yourself properly for Cruel.
Man. I like the look of the duelist but, yeah his passives are completely not worth it. Iron Grip is pretty sweet and he's close to that but, jesus christ his passive nodes on the way are all underwhelming and underpowered. Think the devs will rework both the Marauder and Templar because honestly, there is no reason to go any of the other classes, they can both do everything easily pretty much.
Imo both duelist and ranger isnt bad just because that they both have an easy access to such good big nodes as Arrow Dodging, Iron Reflexes, Acrobatics, which are the best nodes for EV characters atm. About the Duelist, it also good because he could effectivly go for EV+armour gear. I would say, he can get the best use of such gear compared to other classes. They both have the weak beginning, i wouldnt disagree, but only because they have a quick access to those things, theyre still viable.
This is what kinda awkward for me in this game. While the characters are amazingly customizable, the classes themselves have not much identity and special traits, you can make anything out of any class, and those that are less flexible just become garbage classes overall.
haha "avid hardcore gamer" being a hardcore gamer isnt a thing. if you play softcore you dont learn or are under pressure to play well. playing the start of the game a lot helps your learn a lot about mechanics as well.
So it seems that GGG designed the classes this way on purpose. Kripp thinks the Templar is the best class, which is why GGG made him the coolest character. Similarly, the Duelist is the most boring character.
Hey now, Marauder is suppose to resemble our native people...well the ones that came here and ate all the original natives. Kinda like if white people ate the native americans. ok this is an un-needed tangent.
Yeah it does, but it's not an issue once you have high regen. My 69 ranger has something like 150+ hp per second, then add the life on hit which is really high per mob. Use HP pots as well :P
agreed... tho if duelists can own at this point too(which we of course can :3) what ll happen after they get buffed XD because there will be duelist buffs apperantly confirmed
Yeah I can see that work out with the passives. The non-linear character progression is a bit of a problem in this game. You can make 10 level ups and feel like you made no progress, which sucks for casuals like me. Also the gameplay feeling in terms of hit indication doesn't make fun right now. Bashing a group of monsters with Cleave as Marauder just doesn't feel like you are making a difference in the world without all the blinky eye candy and Hollywood-style visuals and sound effects.
Hey Kripp you probably wont read this but i just started playing this game and picked a ranger and it took me 20 tries to beat Vall oversoul on normal and thanks to a little more careful planning and more importantly your tips i re rolled a marauder and was able to just past him last night on one try and basically just tanking everything he did. Im probably sure you wont get to read this but thought it would be right to say Thank you.
When I pick the game up, I plan to play a melee shadow, configured in some Roguish way. I know the class will be _far_ from Kripp's notion of efficiency, but then again, the way I play the game would seem nonsensical to Kripp :p If you're not a min/maxing munchkin, then keep the advice that you can apply to the build you _want_ to play and discard the rest. So, when it's time for me to make that melee Shadow, I'm gonna heed Kripp's advice on currencies and all that, just not skill usage.
Go eldrich battery or blood magic, Eldrich will keep you at an insane amount of mana, then just make sure you have clarity up at all times. With blood magic you want a ton of life regen and a decent pool of life. A very good idea when using blood magic/eldrich is to get life gain on hit/life leech support gems (For blood magic), and for eldrich you are gonna want mana leech if you are struggling with just clarity :) Hope this helps
I think that the devs did not want versatility was one of the qualities of the 1 attribute classes. Judging them by it is a mistake in my conception. Thats why S, D and T are called hybrid classes. These should be judged by versatility, cause if you want to build every type of char with every class with the same performance, there's no meaning in existing 6 different classes in the game. The problem is that D does not fulfill its role as a hybrid class as T and S do.
I don't think the duelist is that bad. Just the first 5-6 nodes are bad. But he can get quite a lot of life and life regen in his area andhe can reach Iron reflexes very fast. Then you have a lot of melee based nodes to choose from. Duelist is a very good melee class. The only problem here is: range characters are better in general. But if you prefer a certain playstyle, go with it. I love my Duelist!
And it is also the extact reason why most ppl DO play hardcore, for the risk of dying and having to try again, better, still with the constant fear that you make a mistake and you lose all your progress. Yea in softcore you lose xp when you die, but overall there is rly no point to it other then if it's your first character and you want to research what works and how to play so you manage later in HC.
I personally love playing HC, it adds much more depth to the game and is way more satisfying when you do make it for the long run. Of course it is frustrating to lose a well made high level character and all the gear but ya always learn and adapt with your next character. It's a totally different animal in HC and it takes a lot of strategy with your builds and gear. I personally feel like HC is the only real league in POE at least for me, SC doesn't really provide any real accomplishment for me.
It has become this trend to play Hardcore and most poeple dont even understand what a "hardcore-player" really likes. In hardcore you die, just like in softcore. The builds "should" be built pretty equally, since, lets face it: 15% exp at 60+ is freaking HUGE. You should build your characters to survive, softcore or hardcore. You should play the game the same way, not just roflstomp through softcore like you did d3. You have ALOT too lose dying in PoE softcore so go softcore and enjoy the game!
only unemployed people like you flaming other people. Do you think everybody has 24/7 time for gaming? No, in this world are people with jobs and family and dont have the time to play all the time hc up to the dead of the char and play it again. And the real kids, are people they call other people a kid.
I agree that Templar seems to have the best nodes but that's so annoying to me... I wish they could all be really viable but just different. Why do life nodes have to depict whether or not you can make it to end game? I will just try to make it as far as I can with a Ranger and be good at what I want
Errr, you do know piety is kinda of "don't stand on crap", right? I mean...just run when she is in shadow form; in ranger form, if you have low cold resist, hide behind the wall or something....You will need high lightning resists tho...
Witch is powerful if built right they require more expertise in skill selection and passive selection then most classes and really aren't powerful until 50+. The first 20 levels they are mediocre at best no matter how good the build.
And by hundreds of builds he means a half a dozen builds that arent virtually the same templar build with diffrent skills. Nothing wrong with it but he does like to stretch the truth alittle :) Everything he said about the tree is 100% true though.
While I like your content and Level to 75 in 2 days stuff, I would like to see you add much more of this kind of info (Lower-level, new character/build). Also, some Twitch showing how you get through the earlier stages would be good.
Gotcha. I prefer to play on softcore mode because losing all that progress automatically makes me not want to play it. Just pretend that you are playing hardcore (while playing softcore), and when you die, make note of whatever happened.
bro i just died at 62 not too long ago, and recently made another character that got to 46 and died again. learn from your mistakes and get better! HC is the way to go! especially when you have all your currency and gear in the HC stash lol
They aren't toons. the term toon comes from cartoony like mmo's like world of warcraft. In diablo days we called them CHARACTERS. Please stop calling them toons, its pathetic, Path of Exile is not a fucking cartoon.
That's not true... PoE has had over 60 thousand concurrent users. THats around 500k active accounts playing PoE. Krip has a viewership of around 3k concurrent, thats around 30k people that even know who he is...
Ideally you would use Chain + LMP, but chain is so effective on this skill because lightning arrow hits in an aoe, so 2 hits near each other via chain or piercing is hittin both targets twice so more mobs together is insane
I agree on templar having the best start and diversity but the character itself is very boring imo. I prefer taking whatever dumb shit I want to do and then making it work. Most of the time I just fail horribly but w/e
Chaos Innoculation, it's actual name. Or Chaos immunity. The node makes you immune to all chao damage, meaning nothing can directly hit your HP and your Energy Shield is forced to be used. Very good for witches.
Welcome to hardcore. I died two days ago on 73. Prior to that i died as a marauder at 43. That's why it's called hardcore. If you can't handle it, go play softcore (you can anyway since u died)
Thanks Kripp, great vid as usual. Was stuck with the ranger, going for an Ice Shot build, that early on isn't working well. Will try for a Bow Templar with lightning, I'll see if that works.
I wish i could play PoE better... my comp just sucks :\ I have a witch and im really happy with it , but i was looking at the templars and now i think i will do one sooner or later :)
haha the highest lvl ive achieved of any class after trying (2 rangers, a marauder, a shadow, and 2 witches(mostly lag deaths lag from rare mobs -_-_) is duelist(currently lvl 50)
It's exactly why everyone should play Hardcore. It's not about getting to level 100, you will die (be it DC or 1 shots or whatever) and that is what keeps the game interesting.
I find that he is biased against dex characters, where as currently ranged characters are considered the most powerful in the game currently. Kinda of ruins his credibility.
the point of the hardcore isnt to never die. it's to challenge yourself to survive longer. everybody will eventually die when you play hardcore long enough, everybody.
This game is too easy. I like to go the worst class ever with the worst build ever. Something like a duelist minion summoner with magic damage so it is challenging, in HC.
kripp, could you craft a class, that would play like the demon hunter in d3? with the same abilities and playstyle, but maybe the hatred/discipline thing left out?
+life nodes, blood magic. Iron grip if bow user. Up to templar elemental nodes if you desire. That's pretty much the starting point for the best builds.
I started as a templar but i then chose to play the ranger. Not sure about my decision any more so im not sure if i should just make a new templar or witch.
You forgot to say that shadow looks fucking terrible and if you cast spells with him you just want to mute sounds because of his scream. Shadow not even once.
I'm probably gonna be Shadow. I'd want Templar, because I want Int and Str, possibly Iron Grip. But I don't wanna be an old man... Shadow looks cool :P
You end up in Softcore, hardly demotivating. Just play like the normal folk, or re-roll like a man. Only a wussy cries about not wanting to play softcore.
im a duelist, my mate is playing a maurder another mate a templar. im blowing both of them away his judging from only the BEGINING nodes. stress less guys
if it's the memory error crash while loading an area just turn all ur settings to lowest and u shouldn't get it that much, other than that get more RAM
Hey, i kinda have duelist bow HC 46lvl and im pretty satisfied with my build and efficency.. im curious what happend in mercilless but so far so good..
