@@freshyraygolt Its funny hes got 100s of world firsts yet he never even talks about any of them. The one that almost got him banned was the ALK runs. He was DESTROYING everyone and rumors were he was a cheat. Then upon further investigation 50 million players were simply getting OWNED. Hes the MJ of POE in my opinion.. And i will bet ANY good RPG game to come.
I feel like GGG is a company filled with actual human beings who actually play video games and they actually enjoy what they're doing. I legit can't think of any other company where that's the case. worldofwarcrafthasbegunonceagain
GGG's track record on PoE 1 has given me complete faith in PoE 2. I'm very confident that even if it's a different feeling game or a different paced game, it's going to be excellent.
Don't forget, Blizzard also used to have a flawless track record and then came D3. It was all downhill from there. I hope you are correct, but I am not as sure as you are.
@@Melheck Indeed, Blizz North was Diablo. However, they also had Starcraft and Warcraft, so basically the company had 3 huge franchises that were all excellent. Now, they have none. WOW was great for the first 6 years and still reasonably good for 4 years after that. I'm not saying that GGG will go the same way, but I am leery for a reason. Don't forget, GGG is owned by someone else.
yea old a1 soundtrack is a banger but imo Kamil Orman-Janowski is hands down one of if not the best music director and lead composer in the whole industry. He just delivers every time
Somehow all this talk reminds me of GDC presentation where Chris Wilson explained how he wanted to design PoE to "be played forever". So far it looks like it's true. I've been playing since Ascendancy league, ofc with short and long breaks from the game, but ultimately I always return. There are no games with such depth.

GGG's ability to come up with fresh content every 3-4 months is genuinely impressive. Feel like there's no other company like this in the whole industry.
I think Rust is the closest to Poe in terms of updates. Facepunch, creator of Rust, releases new content to the game every months first Thursday. I can't think of any company like GGG or Facepunch
The current state is the most diverse and fleshed out endgame I've ever experienced in any genre of game. One of my favorite games of all time for sure.

Seeing this video and Lily's recent build videos makes me appreciate the difference between streamers and RU-vidrs. It's a different skillset to prepare and read out a script, it's not something that comes naturally. No shade of course, I'm excited to see you guys diversify your entertainment skillset and look forward to more scripted content in the future.

From watching hundreds of hours of your stream I do think you have a lot of interesting thoughts and ideas to put out there. Having them in like a short video essay is pretty cool
I think that's the most emotion I have seen in an Alk video besides world of warcraft starting once again Defiantly would love some more videos of you just talking about POE or other games you find interesting. You are very knowledgeable and that knowledge is entertaining to listen too.
The part about GGG not being afraid to take risks is very true. Sometimes it doesnt work out and you get shit like Kalandra. But its always THEIR vision they are implementing, good or bad.
Only took 13 years played, 10s of thousands of hours, a countless number of level 100 characters, all uber bosses killed in ssfhc, won at least 1 gauntlet, and many of the early short form races. seems like a good time to do a general overview/review of the game.
Unironically, I was thinking the same thing today while playing another game. D2LoD is magical, LE/TLI are fine, but PoE 3.x just hits different. You LOGIN, pick an arbitrary build idea, adjust the whole game to your preference, and boom, hundreds of hours of fun generated just like that. Getting bored? Reset SSF, and GO AGANE!

I'm probably similar age to you, was an OG d2 player. PoE and GGG are the best example of an ARPG ever and its really not even close. The game is great because the team is great and they continue to innovate even when they lead the market.
I was having similar thoughts to this game recently, path of exile just blows everything out of the water and it is not even a contest. Investing some time into the game to really start understanding the mechanics and all the little details has proven so worth my time, unlike any other game I have ever played.
I sold my Natalya's set and manticore + dead mans legacy setup on D3 demon hunter for actual $ because real money trading was built into the game for a while. The main reason I sold the gear I spent so much time grinding for was PoE. In it's infancy stages it was already miles ahead of D3. After playing alpha and beta I was hooked.
I thought this was a ruthless video. Then when I realized he was serious. I thought ruthless made him go insane and was about to make a 12 minutes video about how ruthless changed his life.
I remember asking someone (after being yelled at for picking every gd item up I could for salvaging in D3) "Wtf is an 'Alkaizer Run'?" Changed my speed for sure. alkNose.
totally agree on the lost ark point, I actually was enjoying playing that game until I realize the huge disadvantage of not running 6 charaters and just not having a life to farm same contents in all single one of them (I ran the story mode 18 times combined in 3 different servers back in the days lol). It just feels like I am working than playing...
Great video. Poe has for sure swept everything under the rug, and had even bent the rules of what a game can become both monetization wise, and expected quality from a free to play game. Heck poe pumps more content for free than AAA franchises do, its a blast to be a part of it. ss exile
I can't help but smile-a tear in my eye! Alk always sounds like a shy teenager, struggling to find the right words to confess his feelings to a girl in class. The classic "whatever" type of guy :D That was such a heartfelt and beautiful ode to POE. I couldn't agree more with everything that was said.
It is mind blowing how much stuff they’ve incorporated that is actually good over the years. Crap on Kalandra, but we have recombinator tech that’s well done and interesting. I delve hard every league as I just love the mechanic. Settlers is the most insane league ever. The atlas tree? Good gawd, and now with 3 specs you can seamlessly swap between. GGG is on another level.
Hell yeah love the video, appreciate the insight into the game and your appreciate for it. Would love to see more of this going forward, especially when POE 2 drops
