Pathar Phool is a #lichen that grows #wild, mostly found on rocks & tree barks. It is an excellent #spice and is widely used across India. For potli masala to bottle masala to #nihari to #galauti masala it is very critical.
It is also called as #kalpasi #dagadphool #stoneflower.
Pathar Phool is a living organism that grows on its own and uses #photosynthesis to grow. It is not moss or a weed but a lichen. If growing on a tree it does not harm the tree or take away nutrients from the tree. It is incredible how it has found its way into our food.
In #Uttarakhand, I explore how to identify & use #PatharPhool
