There are creepy ice puppets guarding the borders of Irrisen, if I remember correctly. Not the giggling and cartoony kind of puppets 😅 Imagine walking towards a witch nation, of which you most likely heard frightening stories about as a child. And when you finally reach that cursed blue snow covered land, a puppet is standing right here, immobile, looking straight into your eyes. I see them as a thematic variation on the undead trope. Not quite alive, but certainly not dead.

Well this was a fun video! I really need to find the time (and a group) to play Pathfinder haha! I enjoyed how grounded Robert's list was compared to the batshit crazy options in Erik's list haha! Though regarding Erik's number 1 choice, it does make me curious whether the Pathfinder designers had been playing Dominions at the time!

Would like to point out positive or negative effects don't heal unless the effect specifically says it does. I personally think all negative/positive energy should heal/harm undead, but as written, no.

Can relate to the desire for some good ocean campaign fun. Maybe an expedition to find some sunken ruins or something like that. I'm happy to see someone share my love of aquatic characters. I had an idea that I've wanted to play. He's a deep scale aberrant bloodline cultist whose people worshipped one of the great old ones. Another ancestry I really wanna dabble with is the fleshwarp for that gross body horror. They just seem neat and you can tell some interesting stories with them.

I had an interesting idea for either an Android or Ysoki Inventor with the Timewarped rare background from Secrets of magic, and the idea is that they are a temporally displaced Starfinder PC, sent to a time from well before the Gap in SF lore, and trying their darndest to adapt from a world of interplanetary trade and convenience to a medieval world. And because of the Gap in Starfinder, which is an unknown expanse of time that had recently (in that setting) ended and caused all memory and written records of that time to be garbled, missing, and otherwise lost, because of that, this PC would not have historical knowledge of Golarion (the entire planet is missing, not even the gods know where it is other than it's safe, and the only remnant is that Absalom has become a megacity-sized space station, Starstone and all). Both Androids and Ysoki are considered Common Ancestries in that game.

I have been wondering for a while if the amnesiac episodes they’ve been doing (Gatewalkers/Strange Aeons) are leading up to the mass memory hole that is The Gap?

My beloved human champion liberator was recently killed in AV, so I replaced him with a Giant Gnoll Magus with Crush. He is a happy guy, lawful good, the descendant of shamans and wears the shriveled hand of his great grandpappy Shamus Anar around his neck, with which he can case Mage Hand. He has sort of an Irish/Aussie accent, and upon every introduction he announces "Me name is Alith Anar. I'm a descendant of me forefathers for the last thousand years." And I sometimes tell people that "My great grandpappy Shamus Anar keeps watch over me deeds, and informs me forefathers whether I am worthy." (Yes I stole his name from Warhammer) When I came up with that personality, I didn't even know gnolls focused on ancestry that much so maybe it just makes sense. With how hard AV is, he'll probably die soon and need to be replaced lol. "Denying enemy actions is really powerful." "Being able to move out of turn is very powerful." This is why the Liberator Champion is the best champion.

At the table I play at, I am one of the regular GMs. In my homebrew I have several traveling circuses….. when we switched to 2e, the decision was made to introduce several circuses, so my top 5 come from the most popular circus: Circus Umbrea. 5. Goblins 4. Fleshwarp 3. Orc 2. Sprite 1. Elf/human It’s a cop out at 1 but the flexibility with the rare heritages as well as Orc can create a thing of dreams or nightmares.

Orc is Absolutely awesome 😎. If you're unaware, The second adventure path for pf2e is literally circus themed. The adventure path is called extinction curse, you should definitely check it out!
@syvajarvi2289
@syvajarvi2289 Год назад
@@goblinsalvagerites I’ll definitely check it out. The circuses I created are also secret societies with specific areas. The Circus Umbrae are undead and demon/devil hunters. We are using this campaign as an origin story for this particular circus on Golarion. It gives characters with different backgrounds a reason to meet. Sort of like the running away with the circus trope. Edit: bJust looked at it quickly…. I think I may get it and use portions of it for our Kortos/Absolom arc.

0:26 I... am going to STEAL THE HECK out that idea... maybe! I need to get a campaign together first I guess but I just started actually playing PF2, as a player, and it's been so damn fun!!! 2:18 But... but, I want to hear the stories ON CAMERA! Though maybe a separate video so players that are worried about spoilers can avoid them I suppose! 48:11 I am Hugh! 59:45 Wait what?! I LOVE Dwarves!!! That AP sounds BAD ASS!!! 1:00:57 What does it say about me that when I hear poppet that I don't think Pinocchio first but I think Chucky(the murderous doll)? Should I be worried about myself? lol 1:17:15 I've always looked at pronunciation in games like in real life, some people will say it one way, some will say it another, yet some others will say it a different way than the other two peoples! Perhaps a GM even takes a players pronunciation and decides most characters of that player's ancestry/ethnicity/whatever say the word the same way. Also, it's a make believe, "fake" world, there really isn't a right or wrong way when to say things!

My first PF2 character is an ysoki! I had a lot of fun fleshing him out and the cultural tendencies play a big part. He got kicked out of his home because of a curse he was born with, so the family/community culture shows as desperate loneliness and a tendency to immediately bond with anyone who accepts him. Elf travels with him and gives him a cloak? You can bet he's protecting her with his life. And then on the curse side of things, he does everything he can to keep that hidden behind a veneer of cheerful enthusiasm because he worries about getting kicked out again if anyone finds out.

What’re your top 5 ancestries, guys?
@thomasfavrot4987
@thomasfavrot4987 Год назад
I almost never chose a character option for a purely mechanical reason. I'd say my top 5 is something along this : - Leshys. They inform the setting so much. A cactus Leshy ? You can almost feel warmth and dehydration just from hearing these two words. - Puppets. They can be the absolute immobile spy. People don't expect me to be alive, but contrary to undeads, I can hide in plain sight without being disgusting. In a spying or political campaign, that looks really cool to me. - Elves. Come on, the globulous black alien eyes ? On an ancestry that is linked to nature, druidism... In all other settings. But here they are alien ? That's an instant sell 😁 - a Bleached Gnome. They lost the wonderous gaze they had on the world. But they are trying to get it back. How can RP justify being bored by the setting of golarion ? Everything is crazy ! I want this to be explored with something else than apathy. - I'll cheat a little here. But planar heritage are dope. They open so many things ! I want an adventure in Quantium, where PCs jumps from plan to plan in a thriller, super-high fantasy, half-comedic kind of mood. Heritages can really tie a character with a clan, who all have a reason to be here in Quantium.

Ancient elf simply allows for the choice of archetype at level 1, it doesn't make it free... so you get the archetype at level 1, and then a class feature at level 2, instead of a class feature at level 1 and an archetype at level 2, or am I reading it wrong?
@goblinsalvagerites
@goblinsalvagerites Год назад
"You gain the multiclass dedication feat for that class, even though you don't meet its level prerequisite. You must still meet its other prerequisites to gain the feat." So the problem with this that all the lvl 2 archetype feats are dedication feats. Due to the rules around dedication feats, you can't take another dedication until you've taken 2 feats from that Archetype. Effectively wasting a feet. Essentially, ancient elf is really good in a game without the free archetype variant rule, and terrible in a game using the rule.
