Rule 9.2.3 Belgian units can be treated as British units in Antwerp, Calais, Ostend, and Amiens, unfortunately not Cambrai. Therefore, activating the BEF and Belgians costs 2 OPS. I had to check that in my own game the other day ;) Rule 12.3.2; "frontal assault" and "pinning" space are synonymous terms for Paths of Glory. The other attacking spaces have no legal name in the rules, but I tend to call them "flanking" spaces.
necrourr didn’t even think about the Belgian activations, thanks for checking that! I appreciate you clearing that up. I could never figure out what to call them even though I understood the rule
Around 15:30, you asked about losses from combat - the LF impact determines who "wins". If the attacker hits for more damage than the defender, the defender MUST retreat the difference between the attacker's damage versus the defender's damage (in this case, I believe it was 1 - 4 from the attacker versus 3 from the defender). Also, the defender can ignore the retreat (depending on their current terrain) by taking an extra step loss under some circumstances.
Kent Scherm I appreciate that. Hopefully it will help someone with their process or at least give an idea of what not to do 😂 Best of luck in your playthrough!
@@WargameCentralI downloaded the print & play version and used to to play both Wilderness War and Washington's War. Played really well and added some randomness. Give it a try, I think you'll like it. Thanks!
The BEF could not have advanced into Brussels when the Germans retreat, only the full strength Belgians, right? I thought only full strength units could take the space in PoG.
John Sy Hi John, just went back and watch. It was a 2 die roll, modified to a 3. On the corps fire table under the 1 column, a 3 doesn’t deal any damage. Thanks for keeping me straight!
@@WargameCentral It should have been on the corps fire table 2 not 1 (1 for the serb corps and 1 for the fort = 2). On the 2 chart, AH will have to flip the corps and it could not advance.
So what was the answer regarding historical versus original map? Do you have to play them differently or not? Because I just ordered PoG and I prefer the way the new map looks but I want to play the base game.
Patavinity The rules are the same as far as I can tell. There are differences with the historical board. Some victory point spaces are changed. That won’t effect anything if you’ve never played before, just be mindful of it if you play on different sides in different playthroughs
Help! Do units have to retreat out of forts or can they take a step lose instead or is it determined by the terrain of the space of which the fort is located in?
No, you need an an eligible army or the forts loss factor in eligible corps to advance into fort spaces after winning a battle. You are thinking of the automatic destruction of the fort rule, where if all units loss factors plus fort loss factor is covered the fort is destroyed.
