One good thing about kids growing up is that you can spend that time with your wife, find the love you had when young and do the things you wanted, but couldn't because of money and responsibilities.
@@accuratetowing8607 maybe you have to but not everybody has a nagging wife lmao and if you've ever had kids you'd know you sacrifice a lot for them and when they're around so when you finally get the chance to be alone that's what matters we only have so much time
After 33 yrs, my Bride wants to now wrench with me and go racing now that the kids are gone, and yes the last decade plus was doing the First Robotics mentorship thing with all 3 of our boys, and we are going back to the track together! And I would not do it without her...It was her idea this time, since she knows before the kids it was mine, and I did prior for 2 decades, and after our second. A family that races together, stays together.
Congratulations, What a cool looking old truck. And to make it comfortable to drive with AC, Power brakes And Power Steering will be fantastic. The old school late 60's early 70's Shop or Support truck for the drag racing teams looked cool as hell. Those Big Bold letters and the period correct stickers (The Thrush Road Runner head) was my favorite. I can see you two going to or even holding old car and truck cruises with this truck. Adding a 350 to it. You could even pull a smaller enclosed trailer with it to sell your shop merchandise out of. Enjoy it, You deserve it.
Miss Vicki, I have the same issues when we go places to eat. I feel your pain. You go in to a place to eat with exactly what you want on your mind and then get let down when your told they don’t have it.
I've been enjoying your channel.. I'm 26 years old and I don't have Any mentors like yourself.. I just watch you guys and teach myself what I can.. keep it up we appreciate your wisdom and your patience with the boys.. if you were here near me in WI.. id help out around the shop for nothing more than just to listen and learn
Ohhhh good choice on a little Shop Truck! You KNOW we love our C-10 builds and especially on that generation, looking forward to Miss Vicki getting to have some fun with this lil thing and the color is perfect! Safe travels Sir, enjoy the road trip!
If they'd only listen to Vicki. She's always right ❤ nothin like good wood heat. I keep a fire goin for my mom. She's on oxygen 24/7 but will only heat with wood. She's hard headed too lol. Super pumped your gettin that c10. My Dads favorite truck. He had a Red 65 that was orig a 6cyl 3otree but he swapped in a 283. He told me all the stories of the old cars and trucks he's had. Good memories man 😎 eventually I'm gonna build my dads old 1960 c50 Viking into a hauler or something cool.
@@joshuagibson2520 busy working on this 82 c10 rt now. Eventually meant next year. The c50 needs new tires all around and their 2peice widow maker rims. Just to get started then get the 78 camaro engine in it running again been 5yrs since it's ran but engine still turns over and ran good before parts where stolen off of it.
@@joshuagibson2520 yeah a 71or72 c10 is next on my list. Guy down the street has a 72 orange with white top I'm tryin to trade for or buy. Also like to have a 85 Buick Regal to LS swap too
Bill u are big influence to me I watch ur videos everyday. It made my day today get see u driveing off bg parkway in to Lexington ky. I was the white ford 350 plumbing truck. .I use ur video to be more patient with my own kids. U inspire lot people cant wait see next video of trip to get ol chevy. I hope the rest of ur trip is safe n good.
Said it once and now it’s a reality.. I knew atleast some hood would come out of you getting space to do your own stuff.. the dually getting an overhaul, this AWESOME shop truck, all the stuff you already have getting love, and still months to go before you get real busy racing again.. couldn’t be happier to see the old man and Vicki getting stuff done for yourselves after so much being sacrificed for your kids, it’s awesome to see it coming back to you guys. Can’t wait to see what else is up your sleeve Bill. As always, well wishes and fast passes from your friend in New York.
My Dad has been gone now for 11 years today. I look back now and see how I wasted so much time we could have spent together!! He was a Machinist for Bethlehem Steel. I wish now that we would have bought some machines a he could have passed his knowledge to me. He was never into working on cars like me, bought our mutual interests could have been built upon. Miss my Dad so much, Bill, and watching you and the boys really helps me! Thanks for all the great content and b est wishes for your family relationship!
We all appreciate you Bill we love the content that you put out it's just something that we all can relate to. Just keep doing what you're doing because it's working great. Looking forward to the truck build...God bless....🇺🇸💯
When one door closes another door always opens! Love your vids and the WHOLE family call it whatever you will SRC or The Old Mans Garage it doesnt matter when its FAMILY and I love all you guys! Your "Adventure" starts here! lol God Bless you and your whole Family Bill!
Can't wait to see that Green truck on one of your shirts! It will be the 1st piece of merchandise that I buy from any RU-vidr!! Congratulations on retirement!! I'm 12 yrs out! Hopefully I make it there! Good day & safe travels Billiam!
LOVE IT!!!!!!! Can’t wait to see this come in to fruition. Love the ole shop truck looks. And the Mint Green is a great bast to work on and preserve. You go SIR!!! Love that you are getting a chance to do something for you and Miss Vicki after all the years of sacrifice for you kids. Proud of what you did for them, but extra proud of you doing something for you and Miss Vicki. God Bless You and Yours!!
Mr.Bill,I ain't done yet patting you on the back. This is the absolute best video you've posted in awhile now.I hope more of this is coming in future. This proves you've got it in you.Keep this up!
Glad to see you turning out great content. You deserve to spend time on yourself. You and Vickie have put yourselves behind the kids wants and desires. Y’all did a good job raising the boys . Time to chase your all’s dreams . Support the kids , but live your dreams
I'm going to love this build! I had a 1960 short box, Fleet side 4x4 with a 63 hood. 402 BB with a turbo 400. Had a lot of good times in that old truck.
Heck yeah, an old style speed shop parts truck. I love the idea of having it vintage lettered by hand. It is a perfect start to a beautiful truck for you and the Mrs. You guys can go cruise together now and grab a ice cream in the summer and get ms Vicki her pot roast on Sundays! Lol she reminds me of my mom that when she goes to a certain restaurant I can guarantee what she's going to order because she doesn't change 🤣. God bless and you have great ideas for content coming besides racing
Love to see you get your own stuff going. Been a long time coming. Praying for safe travels. I'm 46 and just lost my dad November 16. Sure hope you and boys collaborate and work things out. Love and peace to you and the family.
Like a blast from the past as my mom and dad bought one when I was 5 years old in the same color, 3 on the tree and straight 6 in it. Can remember it like it was yesterday. Will be great to see how yours turns out as you work in it. Going to be a fun project to see come together.
The old shop truck idea will be really cool, and it’s something you and miss Vicki can enjoy together too. Loving the content keep up the good work and safe travels.
Hey wait! Hold up! Let’s see those coupes in the garage up at the farm sometime when you need a quick easy video. Thanks Bill. Have a safe trip buddy. Happy for you and Mrs Vicky. Congratulations on the shop truck.
My husband and I have often commented to each other that we love always seeing our day cartoons on your tv. Well I’ll be damn watching your video today it hit me like a ton of bricks. I get it and why. Let’s go Branden and all the rest of butt hurt people who get offended by those wonderful cartoons. I knew we loved you and yours!!
You and miss Vikki deserve that truck something truly for y'all y'all work so hard for everyone else.have a safe trip can't wait to see the progress on the old truck
I am in the hope that soon you,Vickie, Kenny and Harley's lives will mellow out and get stable. It breaks my Heart to see that you are putting the Nova on the back burner. The new truck is okay but it will never be the Nova. Be safe and have a Great Day! All of you!
Congratulations Bill & Vicki! Can't wait to watch the build progress. I love hand lettering and pinstripes. Hope you can get some video of the guy while he letters the truck.
Congratulations Bill you are much deserved. And Miss Vicky is going to be happy with the ole truck.. Good luck with your journey…. Dogs are going to love it
Much needed and well deserved... I'll give you a suggestion for the gauges and other parts.. LMC Trucks and Brothers Trucks.. They're also gonna have the AC setup.. As far as a transmission and brackets I am positive that Jegs will have it. I highly recommend using the 700r4 with 355:1 rearend.. your going to have to get rid of the tube style rear-end.. the best suggestion for a replacement is a Jegs or Quick Performance 10bolt/12bolt. make sure that you use the 1350yokes and Tail shaft.. For the drive shaft And Suspension work bring it to your Favorite Alignment shop in Columbus.. When doing the disc brake conversion kit I highly recommend Right Stuff. LMC or BrothersTrucks will also have the Green Glass that we all love so much. The wire harness (Ron Francis) or (Painless). A Serpentine system (Vintage Air) LMC or Brothers Trucks.. Steering Column (Ididit).. the Radiator first choice (US Radiator) Griffin or Be Cool.. LMC Trucks and Brothers Trucks will have the interior kit.. Suspension parts LMC Trucks or BrothersTrucks LED lights through LMC or BrothersTrucks...
Ok, now that I made it all the way thru the video, man, I can’t wait!! You’ve got the perfect plan for that truck Bill!! Please tho, when you have it clear coated, please don’t use a high gloss clear! Use a Satin clear, to keep a realistic patina look. Doing it the way you’ve got planned is gonna be bad ass and Miss Vicki will look so good driving that thing! Question: I know a lot of guys are putting some of the older trucks over on top of newer S-10 frames so that you not only get the upgraded power of the V8 engine like your gonna do but you get the better ride and handling of a newer truck. Will that body fit on the S-10 frame or is it too big?? I know they can put 48-53 Chevy body swap without changing anything but can mounts he not sure about a 64, but it would be a sweet project if it would work! Anyways Bill, enough from the damn peanut gallery here! You’ll get plenty of suggestions and how to’s from everyone else by time you get to Tennessee, lol!! I’m just glad you and Vicki are doing something for yourselves for a change and can’t wait to follow this, no matter what direction you go with it!! I knew you had to have dropped an Easter egg with the thumbnail in the last video and I was hoping I was right. One last thing, your editing of your videos is by far the very best on all of RU-vid Bill!! It’s amazing what you do on your phone that just blows away what others do with a computer!! Keep it up buddy!!
This is awesome Bill. You're are on the right path Sir. I have no doubt on the success of this channel as its own deal separate from SRC. Keep your eyes up and God Bless. Stay safe on your travels.
Bill, im sure i speak for a few older racers here, it's great to see you in a calmer spirit, Vicky seems less stressed too. Mint Julep will be great content....and period correct for y'all. 🍰
My dad drove a 1964 gmc camper special 3/4 ton. He drove that thing from like 1985 till like 2003! Had a 327 out of an impala with a T350. And no seat belts! Man that freakin truck has alot of good memories. That thing still runs n drives. Can't wait to see the stuff u do with that thing. Good for u and miss vicky!

Really happy for you Bill, I also been saying I did'nt think this day would ever come, worked 44yrs now am retired here in Oklahoma 3yrs ago, just too bad now our world is falling apart around us but now I find myself praying more now than ever. I hope you are doing the same because you know Jesus is coming soon, if you remain in good health do you know Jesus is coming in your lifetime, this is a great time to be alive so pray often for yourself and everyone around you, I Love you and your family
So glad you are able to post content for our entertainment Bill. Miss the videos from the boys, but am sure some will show up sooner or later. Have a safe trip. See you when you get back.
MY WIFES 100% WITH MS Viki its her favorite dish there too and at home from a crock pot every Sunday. !!! Try calling ahead and reserving from the manager see if they helps. Lol. GOD bless yall.
Bill this is awesome what you have planned for the truck. Like you said Time for you and Vicki to spend more time. Awesome to see "Old Man's Speed Shop" on it. Since well thats all you have done with cars
Great video! So excited that you are finally going to do something for the two of you. It should be awesome can’t wait to see it get started. Glad you are getting away from the boys and doing your own thing you deserve it. Maybe when they see there Dad kinda moving on they will come around🤞🏻keep doing what you do😀😀
Congrats of doing something for you and Vicki. My tubbed big block Monte SS has been sitting since 1998 because everything was for my daughter. Recently I purchased a 1970 396 Nova seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for daughters expenses. She'll be graduating from college next semester (fingers crossed) with perfect 4.0 grades. I couldn't be more proud of her. But not gonna lie. Will be nice to have some money to get the 'ol Drag Monte Carlo going again and fix up the Nova. Papa time.
Oh yes. That speed shop truck will be KILLER Bill. Gonna be awesome watching that thing come around. I look at vintage hand painted lettering on Pintrest all the time for ideas on guitar bodys.
Great truck and great ideas. Period correct looks and a bit of power and comfort is the perfect combination to me. Don't forget some good music. I'm just north of Chattanooga so welcome to Tennessee and have a safe trip
Well congratulations on your find. I hope it’s everything that you want it to be. Be safe on the road and I’m looking forward to seeing your merch. Stay warm!
So excited for this project. I absolutely love watching this channel. So happy for your Mr. Bill and Mrs. Vicki, glad that you are doing something for yourselves.

Hey Bill I’ve been watching your channel since almost the beginning and I think you really down to earth and believe that’s one thing that makes so many people wanna follow you, your a good man, everyone loves your content so keep up the great work, be safe on your trip
Bill they are having a big swap meet in Nashville first weekend of February, they always have what you need for old truck. If you don't.go maybe you know someone going they can pick up whatever.for the truck. Man I love this model truck better than any other year. Keep all us Tubers wanting to see this old gem.
That's a real good looking truck. There must be something with "Vicki's", my wifes name is Vickie and we bought a 52 studebaker pickup that she fell in love with. I'm in process of getting it road ready and letting live her dream. Congrats on retirement, have fun and stay safe.
Awesome! Glad to see you building one of these 1st-gen C10s. I’ve got two of this body style truck, one of which is a 66’C10 that’s been drag raced and street raced and have owned since high school (I’m 52 now) and the other is a 65’ C10 with some pretty good patina that I’ve made a shop truck out of. This should be a very fun project for you and I’ll be following along to see the progress! Have fun with it!!
Oh yeah, the little truck is going to be a great project, should probably be the first t shirt, I think it would be great to drive it a bit with the 6 cylinder and three on the tree. Those 6 cylinders were pretty awesome and they did make some good speed equipment for them. Drive safe.
A fantastic positive video, talking about future plans with a great attitude. It’s very refreshing to see you in this light not commentating about the kids and how it impacts you in a negative light. If your RU-vid channel is a business venture, you need more positive content like this. Well done Bill!
Awesome stuff Bill, I'm looking forward to the build. After raising my boy alone he moved on at 21 years old 4 months ago, I know what you mean about "buying " something for you, It's a weird feeling buddy..lol..keep up the positive attitude buddy. If your around Knoxville TN. Tomorrow lunch is on me.
Loved the Smokey and The Bandit reference Bill ! Tellem to bill that to Little Enus 😂👍. Bill you deserve to relax and enjoy some you time. I have always been told hard work pays off. All your hard work is finally paying off. So excited about the shop truck 👍
I'm so happy for you and Vicki. Can't wait to see what you do to the old girl. I got my dad's old 71 short bed before he passed. There's just something about driving a old truck. Brings back memories of easier times or something. Be safe and take care. Love you guys and God bless.
Bill I love this Ideal. That is a great looking truck. I love the Ideals you have this is going to be a great project. I am so looking forward to this. Love you guys! Safe Travels! God Bless!!
Bill you and Mrs. Vicki deserve every blessing you get. Your boys are grown. Time to relax. Great idea for the Shop truck. Can't wait to see it. And by God I'm gonna call that Cracker barrel and tell them get plenty of pot roast ready on Sunday. 😂
