In this video I am repointing my old patio with Sika Fastfix.
I should have probably re-laid the patio but instead a bit of patio repointing will give it a bit more life.
Sika Fastfix is a brush in compound which sets as hard as mortar and can be applied in the rain and is a really quick and easy product to use.
I am also announcing my giveaway winner from a couple of weeks ago.
hope you enjoy and remember to like and subscribe.

Matt, this is so helpful. I just bought the same product and thinking I should hire a gardener. With this video, I believe I could do it myself. I am 67 year old fit female.

Thanks Matt, great video. You have inspired me to do a re-grout of our patio (its in need of one), and likewise I have been putting it off as I thought it would need re-laying really. This should give it a few years more use first. And Woohoo, I won something! Thanks, will drop you an email. :-)

Blimey Matt it's like you are actually working through all the jobs I need to do at home. Thanks for working out the best way of doing them as you are saving me loads of time and effort! Although take a bit of advice from someone that knows and get yourself some knee pads😀

Second for the knee pads - "housemaids knee" as it used to be called can be really painful.

I repointed yesterday. After 18 hours, it is still a soft sand despite being tamped down. It feels like an oily sand, A few paw prints (foxes and badgers use the patio as a thoroughfare!) make it interesting and it is raining now. Fingers crossed.

I've just pointed a newly laid Indian stone patio using this product. 16m2 joints at between 10-20mm and at 20mm deep. My tub which says it does 18m2 only did 1/3 of the size! 3 lots of 18m2 tubs have been used to do my 16m2 patio? Expensive way to do this. Followed the instructions and the online youtrube video and compacted well also used plenty of water which also seems to be key. If I did it again I'd go down the traditional route i think and clean up after with an acid wash to clean any staining. Whether it lasts now is another matter time will tell...
@MATTDOESSTUFF2020
@MATTDOESSTUFF2020 Год назад
Yeah that does seem to have worked out expensive for you. I managed to grt mine done with just less than a tub. I couldnt tell you the m2 off the top of my head though. I guess at that value i would use sand and cement as well.

Hey Matt, great vid. My patio is 36 feet x 9 feet (144 slabs), which is a lot of slabs. Unfortunately a lot of the gaps are less than 5mm. Do you think it’s worth taking the chance and using it? Other options would be use it on the parts that are 5mm and over then use sika setting sand for the areas less than 5mm (nightmare), or re-lay patio which I would like to avoid. What do you think? Thanks
@MATTDOESSTUFF2020
@MATTDOESSTUFF2020 Год назад
Hi Dave sorry I missed your comment. At 5mm I would be worried about getting the material in the gap. As long as you can get the gap filled I cant see an issue but I am not a Pro, so that's just an opinion. Hope it goes or went well.

@MATTDOESSTUFF2020

Hi, yes i brushed away the product before setting. I think if you leave it it will set up on the slabs. I was just careful not to brush too hard around the gaps.

@MATTDOESSTUFF2020
@MATTDOESSTUFF2020 Год назад
Its done ok to be honest. Ive had a few areas where its come out of the joints but thaglts because some more of my slabs have come loose. But thats not an issue with the product but i would make sure you get you slabs solid first. Where my slabs are solid its held well.

@MATTDOESSTUFF2020
@MATTDOESSTUFF2020 Год назад
Yes, for the most part. I had some come out because i didnt secure my slabs enough but where the product stayed in it stopped weeds. My top tip is to make sure that you have good stable slabs otherwise the product will work loose.

Where my slabs haven't moved it has held up well. Some of my slabs have become wobbly in the past 2 years so have dislodged the pointing but I'm not putting that down to the product.

Against my gut instinct, I used Sika FastFix on my limestone flags.... I've done many re-grouting jobs and this was on my own house so I was super careful. Cleaned out old grout and brushed this stuff in and pressed it in with pointing tool... 6 months later it fails the "key-test" miserable (like wet sand when scraped with a key)... Never again

Hi Melody, The product worked for me and im pleased with the results. For me as a diyer buying sand and cement to make the amount i needed means theres a lot left over that i wouldnt use and also in my limeted experience mortar mix can stain the slabs. I guess everyone will have a view on these convenience products and some are better than others but either way as long as you are happy with your approach then thats all that matters. Thanks for watching!
