Since day one in the podcast game, Joe Rogan would tell all his guest to start a podcast, basically creating competition for himself, but now all I see is urban podcasters beefing with each other . This makes me wonder if these guys need beef to captivate an audience to do numbers. Rogan always promote that theirs enough space for everyone. What Joe said at 52:00 is spot on. All these personalities on legacy networks have been starting their own pod and it's been telling. I've tracked Stephen A Smiths RU-vid for the past 3 months. He was stuck at 80-90k subscribers for weeks. Videos that didn't break 10k views after 3 days of being posted as recently as June. I'm sure he's learned about ad spending by now, and in the past 3 weeks his subscribers doubled. Yet some videos still struggle to get traction. Stephen A thought he'd have more organic traction & learned quickly he'd have to pay to get more visibility on the algo. Basically he thought his worth/influence was bigger & couldn't break 100k subs until he started spending

ESPN's target demo of 25-34 primarily use Desktop - so think RU-vid and ESPN's site, not cable. If you're saying ESPN's $50 million man shouldn't be able to garner 100k subs in a matter of 3 months, respectfully, you don't understand the business of influence & don't understand how he lost some leverage by showing his hand there. Personalities make channels & social media accounts and hit 100k in a day. We're talking 3 months for ESPN's 'most famous' personality. And we're talking 100k, not 1 million. CAP AK!! 50 Cent started the 1st week sales thing. 50 started lookin into mfs sound scan& 1st weeks sales. He used the 1st week sales & numbers to clown the people he had smoke with at the time & he was still coming out selliny 4 million. But it all backfired on him when this guy named Kanye West came along & 50 said if The Graduation sold more than CURTIS, he was goin to retire, but he didnt hold upto his end of the bargin, but he might as well had of retire, b/c that was the beginning of the end of his rap career

Ish I disagree with your example of if A has $100m and B has $12M, once B gets to $69M the information or assistance from A slows down. It should and is the natural progression of the relationship. If I helped you get to $69M from $12M, I have provided you with a prodigious amount of knowledge. I’ve taken the training wheels off, you’re riding now and should require less assistance! The relationship changes, as it should naturally.
