Opie wasn't intimidated by Patrice. He was scared that Patrice was gunna fuck with him and point out his flaws on air and in front of his staff. Patrice would have fucking DESTROYED opie and he would have no way of even attempting to fight back. Patrice found out about the "greggshells" early on.
I miss him too, but still listen to him daily. Almost feels like he's not dead. He'd have so much genius insight if he were alive right now. Would've been dope to hear his opinions on Cancel Culture, Trump, the pandemic, new era feminist, etc.
RIP Legend!! 2022 and still listening to the great O&A with the Infamous King Of Comedy Patrice O'Neal! You never made it where you deserved either brother but at least you made it! 💯
I think there are a lot of comics who are better in terms of performance on a stage but I doubt any of them would be funnier in person or in a conversation. Patrice' humor almost entirely came from his insight.
@@andyward8430 Exactly how I feel. His stand-up wasn't as good as Dave Chappelle, Bill Burr etc, but on the radio (O&A and Black Phillip) he was the funniest guy in the world.
That fast, “Blake Griffin,” answer was so smoothly incorporated into Patrice’s transition to the point that was already on his mind was excellent. Also, 1:29:08 is hilarious. Glad these uploads are on YT
Comics using their physical disability as a gimmick back in the early 2000s is equivalent to how today's hack comics use their so called anxiety and depression as a crutch.
Patrice carried O&A, if he was alive and didn’t blow up or even if he still blew up I believe that they would still have this show or it would be turned into actual good podcast. I’d love to hear Patrice’s intake on the Cosby case !
"Carried O & A"? 🤣🤣🤣 Anthony carried Patrice and most of those comedians and obviously Opie as well. Go listen to those comedians podcasts including Patrice... They are trash and not funny like when they are with Anthony who's hilarious alone or with anyone. Facts!
Came here from JRE comments to see what Patrice says about Iliza...If you go back to JRE 1401 poor lady is slayed in the comments...Hilarious...props to @David Garcia
Women comics are NOT funny. I have never had a belly laugh or laughed until I cried at a woman comedian; it’s fucking awful. The ONLY one who is halfway funny is the Queen of mean, Lisa Lampanelli
Iliza's specials are so painful to watch, she's confident but that's all her act has going for her, too wordy, no punchline jokes, just mocking girly girl things like a "funny" 16 year old girl would.
Yeah she's kinda hot but I have a hard time thinking her looks are the only thing that has gotten her this far. I mean take a look at Esther Ku. She is absolutely adorable but she's not very funny. I often wonder if maybe someone like her just appeals more to women than men.
Matthew Rutledge that’s what it is, all these dudes shitting on her because they don’t like her comedy but I doubt they relate very much if at all where as my gf does because she knows exactly what she’s talking about. Different strokes for different folks.
Iliza is hot, but I never really laughed at her standup. She does have a certain comedic edge, but her looks gives her wayyy more attention than she would have without it. She uploaded a serious video on webcam where she cried about her memories from 9/11. WHY WOULD A SERIOUS COMIC DO THAT?
brando mcp, leave spikedawg alone... there's a place for aspergersy white-knights with no balls and the youtube comment section is where he hangs his hat.
Listening to HOURS of Patrice the past few weeks. Aside from a genuine comedy genius, wasn't he the most HONEST and SENSITIVE person ever. Him talking about his dog being ran over in an earlier show was just RAW and UNFILTERED...like he always was. I think he could have beem more than a superstar comedian. He was so FAIR and even handed.....could have been an AMAZING statesman. So much potential and such a rare human. We lost a very special dude. He would def call me a faggot if he read this, but i mean every word!
I like how they talk about Iliza Shlesinger not being comic material or whatever & saying she has to go through war first, and then she names a special "War Paint" later lmao. She must have heard this.
Patrice's talk around 2:10:00 about a social world without order is worth its own upload. Saying things like a lot of people are talking without having earned the right to speak with substance. And things like "people hear this show and they're confused about meanness. They hear you bash Vos and they think it's okay to bash you without knowing about there being a line". I don't know, don't miss that part.
I used to do that to my kids after I asked them if they blew their noses before school. They would lie and tell me they did so I would pinch their noses and if the nostrils stayed stuck together like Iliza’s then I knew they had a load of boogers up there 🤣
RIP Patrice...but you were dead wrong about most of your basketball intuition. But being the greatest storyteller of the past decade, you cant help but get sucked into his theatrical genius. Miss ya girl name
Field Keeling Patrice's sports picks throughout his time in on the show are always wrong ha ha ha. He always breaks down the mental side then makes the wrong pick ha ha ha
i like how he puts thought behind what he does, I just took elephant in the room as subject matter that is there and obvious but people dont want to talk about. I like the king of the beast reference
Hey Patrice a gay trucker just jumped outtta the woods when I was taking a piss two steps into the woods on the side of the highway. I thought of your “it’s cold out here” story. I almost said “it ain’t even cold, get outta here fahket” Rest easy man
When they started talking about Nikki Payne, I began hoping for Patrice to like her in order to validate my comedy taste. Which is weird since I never knew him, yet I was strangely relieved when he said she was funny. A wise man who would have contributed so much solely on his opinion, he will be remembered for years to come like Kinison, Hedberg, Lenny, etc.
Phucking hilarious. He just squeezed his comical life even when it wasnt his turn. In turn, be it uncalled or not, he gave us plenty shit to laugh our balls off. He was meant to be like that.
Patrice was so right in how you can tell if a sport sucks by how defensive people get when it's dissed. Football fans just shrug because they know the person is an idiot. Soccer fans throw a fit. The proof is that soccer fans are immediately starting to type "You mean AMERICAN Football".
Patrice saying take it in the face. I wonder where they phrase came from. Donnell Rawlings made a whole set based off that phrase I wonder if he got it from Patrice or it's a phrase that circulated around them especially in the comedy scene. 🤷♂️
Anthony C I thought that too, from back in the day in the early 90’s, because that’s what people saw and parroted. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle!
i was just reading something about demar derozan and patrice said his name. Also it's funny how he uses Moses Malone as an example as why players shouldn't go straight to high school, when moses went from high school to the ABA.
I don't think Patrice is one of the top top comedians, but 'Elephant in the Room is by far, one of the best sets I have ever seen! If he had 3 or 4 more hour specials where he crushed it like he did on that one, he'd be on top. That special he did was so dm good!
Louie CK said something similar. Patrice's latest special before he died was starting to scrape against the tops like Pryor or carlin. He wasn't there yet. But if he had 10-20 more years to hone his craft, he would've been a legend.
TheOssumPawesome DUDE he needed 10 more years to be recognized as the guy but everyone who knows his comedy unanimous agrees that he was that guy. He was better than EVERYONE. He makes everyone look basic
Kweation This dude was so close to legendary. Why did he have to die so soon. He only made it to great, but not greatness. Five more years and he would have pushed to greatness and five more he would have hit legendary.
I think youre right in a way, but hes one of the funniest and most insightful conversationalist ever. I listen to hourrrrs of him on this show here. Its like an addiction.
like a lot of fans I only got into the Patrice shows post-Patrice unfortunately, but he was a bona fida GREAT comic. Comics hate saying how talented their peers are but Bill Burr,Jimmy,Colin Q, L Ck even Chris Rock refer to him as great he would own Hollywood by now
Talent and funny is not what Hollywood wants unless you are willing to sellout your personal views, opinions and scruples and Patrice was Never gonna do that so he would have never been famous.
Yes it was her that got ran over, she was sunbathing and a lifeguard ran over her. She supposedly died on the scene and took 5 years to fully recover half of that in a wheel chair. She also had cervical cancer before 30, and a few other issues, talk about a trooper I can see why she was an inspirational speaker.
Fucking Opie cringy in this again. Listens to the deaf comic the whole way through and says Patrice needs orange juice, UGH. Then the hare lip comic comes on and in 2 seconds he says hes done.
I don't think Jimmy the Greek was completely wrong. Most African tribes still around these days are very tiny people on average. 400 years of selective breeding had to have SOME effect.
lol 2:11:00 what Patrice says here is fucking hilarious to me because during my Patrice O&A binge the only people I've seen complain about Patrice in the comments were women, and they all said EXACTLY what he's saying right here. It's what they always say and it's truly pathetic.
Amy Schumer doing the Bell Centre (21000 places) in Montreal soon. Louis CK came in last summer and played in the Maison Symphonique before 2100 persons. I don't get it.
