The total federal budget is around $4 trillion right now. The federal government brings in less than $4 trillion from taxpayers (that’s why the deficit grows yearly). Making healthcare universal would grow the federal budget to $7-8 trillion. Almost doubling what it is currently. Your taxes would most likely double. They have universal healthcare in England, but the average citizen there pays half their income to the government. It’s even worse in countries like Sweden, and Denmark.

Here's the way i look at this. Back in hunter gatherer days, if you didn't pull your weight you were either beaten, denied food or banished from the tribe. If you pulled your weight and you got injured or grew old and couldn't help anymore, you were taken care of by the tribe as gratitude. That's how it should be. You don't get to just have things you have to pull your weight and contribute. Welfare programs should only be given to those who have contributed something to society

You just dont get it because you want it. Go earn it. Now I know there are those in need. I get that. So have the government figure a way to help them with the tax money we provide.
