She needs to be honored for her work in being an artist. She deserves a bet award & or Lifetime achievement Award. She has talent can play all these instruments singing etc She deserves to be recognized. She paved the way for slot of artists now. And her music is sampled so much. Please honor her. She deserves it

Patrice just looks beautiful ...cute...vibrant...as she has at ANY AGE up to and including her current age. You NEVER say to an actual cute 5 year old child..."You're cute for 5." I know the commenter probably meant no harm, but we say things without thinking of the implications of said things.

Patrice Rushen a living legend. Her and George Duke crossed over from jazz to funk/soul and back. She was Alicia Keys before there was an avenue for that type artist to be mainstream.

Not even close , sorry. This Women is an Giant that never lossed her roots to the music. The fact that she is teaching her ART is powerful. Those young students are totally unaware of the Master that they are being taught by. I love this lady much deeper than just her music.

Having seen Patrice Rushen perform a concert at LBCC in the 1980s, and seeing her articulate her musical journey so well on this video, there is no separation between her craft and her instruction! Rushen has the business acumen of Mick Jagger and the chops of Keith Richards, the affability of Dick Clark and the bon mots of Oprah. We need Patrice Rushen more than ever :D

Not speaking for her but I would bet she chose the music over profit. The music is more important to the great ones. She is a GREAT one. The industry will destroy your soul if you allow it but there will come a time when you have to choose. This one was waaaaay talented a professional to give up her passion. As we use to say in the Corps " quality over quantity". Her music will and has stood the test of time. I miss those beads too !!!!

You should also see her 70s output, From her earlier Jazz/Funk/Soul albums. She also played with Jean Luc Ponty (Progressive Jazz/Synth Jazz violinist. Truly versatile!

Blige “( Re-made what’s the 411’s “( U Remind Me )” & Now Mary J’s 30 year career, was definitively influenced by Patrice. I’m Glad Mary did her remake b/c it Took her to a whole new level.
