So I really want to touch on the transition this song goes through. Let me start by saying... this is my favorite song. I could listen to it over and over and not get tired of it, and have done so. So... Catch these hands is a bit of a meme. "Thou dost not want to catch these hands" was the first time I saw it... but in a modern contest it's a receiving end aggression. "Catch these hands" in this context would mean "You're gon' get slapped" And I think in the first section of this track that's the intended use.. but that's just it. it's the intended use.. it's used as a set up.. it's used as a "I'm feeling very confident currently stage." And as many might know.. that mindset doesn't always last.. so post saxophone monologue (amazing by the way.. seriously had me hand gripping and looking upwards in confidence at times) the message shifts to "wait.. I can also have a vulnerable moment too.. can't I? I don't always have to put on the façade of being strong and self reliant.." so "catch these hands" has a literal shift... from "feeling the slap of these hands" to.. "please, literally catch these hands in your own because dammit that would really help me out, ya'heard" in the sense of Patricia and well.. anyone who identifies with this track.. There's no shame in asking for help. There's no shame in not being a one person show... I don't know if I've ever met a happy person who believes they're a one person act... I really resonate with this track lately. I've been in a really bad life situation past... Well almost decade, and I just got out of it, which made me very confident and i feel really good about life. But it also made me realize how extremely lonely i am and have been for years
