I've actually gone to the point of screaming myself. When your psychiatrist gives you medication YOU STICK TO THE ROUTINE damn it. If I'm not mistaken, the whole album is based on the subtext of mania. Like, it's not just meant to represent happiness, but rather, intense euphoria and being trigger-happy with your anger and paranoia. You know, the opposite of depression; while depression dulls your emotions 'till you can't bother to do anything, mania amplifies your emotions 'till everything becomes 20× more vexxing (or pleasing) than it should be. Obviously, you still cannot work properly when everything feels like a panic attack. The Loudest Patch of Grass is probably meant to be not just happy, but aggressively euphoric.

No, I can definitely hear it. You can tell Patricia lowered some of the spectrum of the noise wall just to make room for the screaming. [Edit: I don't know why I said that. Upon relistening I can't hear the spectrum being lowered. But yes, there is screaming on top. Perhaps a spectrogram tool would show you where the screaming is?]

I'm not exactly a connoisseur but the little bit I've heard from John Zorn introduced me to his band Naked City which is often waaaay worse. His album Music For Children is also something you wouldn't play in close proximity to any child at all. Even adults often don't qualify. I am 100% missing a more appropriate work from his discography because there's no fucking way I'm gonna go through it all, he releases multiple albums a year and has been doing so for the last three decades or so, but his albums show no apparent coherence to each other, he uses his genres like if music was his (excuse the term) sexual slave, so often one does not know what they're getting into; Midsummer Moons is made exclusively of works made for two acoustic guitars, and is excellent music for lounging around at midnight. But then you get to Nani Nani and it starts with gentle sax for a few seconds and then a man being shot and screaming. Multiple times, as if the first fourteen shots weren't enough to kill him. (To be fair Nani Nani wasn't a solo effort.)
