On the topic of the SOPHIE release: The whole album was finished by her brother who was working with her on her music long before she passed away in 2021. The album was almost completed back then and he knew EXACTLY what she wanted to do with this project. It's not a cash grab in any sense of the word (we would have gotten the album years ago if that was the case) but a project out of love and respect for SOPHIE. The album was finished by her colleague and brother alongside her closest co-musicians she was recording songs for the album with. As a long-time stan of hers I stand by this upcoming release. We can be lucky this is done by her closest friends and not some label exec.

I think people were just disappointed that it wasn’t the higher tempo mix that she performed live years ago and can be found on SoundCloud. But that was a typical mixing decision Sophie made in her live performances vs. the studio releases.

@@chrisb_1753 Yeah, the production choices are a different topic. I do think that the Reason Why we got was the version SOPHIE wanted on the album. She was notorious for speeding up songs for her live sets. Look at Taxi. The OG is sloooooow while the fans are obsessed with the sped up version we knew from the sets. The Sweat Remix (Sonikku) and the HEAV3N set are good indicators that she got more chill, the soft bell-like kicks and all...

Love this reaction! B2B is indeed a banger! Also i feel like Mean Girls praises the girls that get downtrodden by society and labeled as your typical “mean girl” when they should be allowed to be whoever they want. I see guys as more permissible to be “mean” than girls and not be called a “mean dude” but the minute a girl acts out even a little bit, they get labelled a “mean girl”, and I felt Charli needed a song for all these “mean girls”! Also, I love Apple and I think about it all the time as well. I’m 32 and this hit me hard, and I’ve noticed that reactors above a certain age click with this song more so than younger reactors or those who don’t have children themselves. Love this album, and how it encapsulates so many different angles of the “Brat” archetype!

The SOPHIE album is going to be great as her bro is managing it and had worked with her in the studio previously. Naturally, it will deviate slightly from how exactly it would have sounded if SOPHIE were still with us to finish it herself, but I'm confident that the unique character of her sound will be preserved in it (many of the songs were pretty much done at the time of her passing - the Reason Why single release sounds super similar to versions from Soundcloud that came up while SOPHIE was still alive). As a massive, foaming-at-the-mouth SOPHIE fanboy I trust this album and know it's going to slap EDIT: Also I got second-hand stress from how you were describing the Patreon requests - please do pace yourself and remember that we (your audience) will still be here regardless of what/when you post

I also thought apple could be slightly about wanting/raising children because it had imagery of seeds/fruit aswell as the saying 'how far the apple falls from the tree' and the lyric about how things are 'passed down' which could refer to generations of people

Please react to SOPHIE's single! 🙏 It's released by her brother Benny Long, who was her long time collaborator and close friend, so I personally see no wrong with this upcoming posthumous album. Especially when you take in count that the project has been almost completed by SOPHIE herself by the time she passed away.

Being invested in SOPHIE (I started listening to SOPHIE when "nothing more to say" came out in 2013) then losing her 8 days after my birthday was heart breaking. I didn't listen to music for at least 2 months knowing I wouldn't hear another new SOPHIE song again was hard to swallow. (Now that we are getting this new album from her it hurts but is a nice celebration of her and I'm excited to hear the other singles and eventually the full album) I got the confidence to come out as a trans woman because of SOPHIE seeing a successful trans woman made me inspired to finally let the real me out.
