Reminds me of Tom Glavine. Guy was drafted in 1987 by both the Atlanta Braves and LA kings, the fact that this guy was good enough to make a pro in both baseball and hockey was fucking nuts. Pat Corbin remind me very much of that with his basketball and baseball prowess

Pat went to my high school alma mater, Cicero-North Syracuse, one of a few professional athletes to go through the system. made multiple donations to our facilities, family has always invited people inside their house to watch games with him on the mound, came back to the area a few times. Great person, world series champion, unfortunate sequence of years.

Everyone hating on his “lucrative contract”. He was the best free agent LH starting pitcher in that years market if I remember right. He still only got 22 a year which for a starting pitcher is middle of the pack, which is what he was when he signed it. If you cannot coach him back to that form or to one that is successful then the failures on you not him. Martinez says that Corbin “says all the right things” but honestly it’s just not a good look from anyone involved.

This is an ultimate hype video for a guy whos having a rough go at it, to point back to how improbable his journey actually was. Very cool video.

And if you look at Martinez’s interview about the guy from a few days ago it’s clear that this is a failure of coaching and management. The guy has proven he can pitch. He needs someone who can guide him back to that form, which will give him confidence.

The guy hits 20 bombs at least if he gets 500PA 4 straight 100 RBI years 4 straight 30+ homer years, only his first season with San Diego was a season that saw him finish with an OPS+ of under 100! Is he Trout or Harper? No, but he’s one of them baseball Dudes, who currently is having one of them career resurgences

I remember so many Yankees fans being livid that they didn't overspend to get him a few years ago. It's one thing to not live up to the lofty expectations that come with an insanely lucrative contract, but to not even belong in the majors anymore is just a different level of bad.

PG is definitely the best for youth baseball, but for major league prospects it has to be the Area Code Games. I think that 8 major league teams are involved, and scouts from almost every top college or mlb team are there. All the best players right now like Mike Trout were there.

Patrick Corbin is definitely gonna be remembered positively, you don't do great things in the World Series for a team that won it and not get positive memories associated with you. Also, regression is in almost every pitcher's game, if you're good enough to get that contract in the first place you'll stick around in the league long enough to prove human ability generally drops off. I'm kinda looking forward to Corbin's career twilight simply because he'll be playing without the pressure of a long, expensive contract and certainly on another team. Maybe he can transition to the bullpen as a finesse lefty with big-game experience, or maybe he'll just backend rotation for a team that takes a gamble on his stuff being effective.

May need to run into the right coach and Baseball is a crazy enough game for him to bounce back and be a good Pitcher especially since he is a lefty. He may need to do the CC later in his career conversion into a contact Pitcher vs a stuff guy. I thought this video was going to be a Gallo type meme shitting on the guy having a bad season so this was a pleasant surprise.

You can have a good time there and then scoot down to Hyde Park to check out all the FDR sites. Plenty of New Yorkers have made it big in DC!! Don’t forget Grover Cleveland, who eventually turned into Pete Alexander and made it into the HOF. And then he turned into Ronald Reagan and married Doris Day. Patrick Corbin has been my favorite pitcher since he started, we’re both lefties so that’s what made me a fan, glad someone gave him love and not hate. He’s on a terrible team that doesn’t care anymore, put him on the Yankees, Mets or any other playoff team I think he’d be doing really good.

He’s not even that bad of a pitcher it’s the crazy thing. He’s getting hurt by how bad the nationals fielding is.

It is crazy how far he fell. He was good before TJ, and after TJ, from 2015-19, he had a 117 ERA+ while starting 30+ times a year. This wasn't a guy with no track record.

Others Nats fans should be nicer to Corbin. It hurts whenever I see him getting trashed so hard, cause slumps happen. And it's not like the team would be in the playoff hunt without him there. I just saw the Nats play last night at Wrigley and they looked like a minor league team playing dress up. If our team can come back from that, then so can Corbin. I can't wait to see him put this behind him and throw a sub 3 ERA season in the next few years, and I think more people should have faith that he will get better.
