For those that compare eras. This guy would basically be Rudy Gobert with a jump shot, ambidextrous post moves and agility. Keep in mind Rudy Gobert is a 1st to 3rd team all nba player every year and he wasn't even the best center in the NBA

Ewing only cared about the outcome of the game. Having a big night meant nothing if you lose the game. Guy had his priorities straight. Freaking Celts were hard to beat.

word!...Ewing was one of the last of a dying breed...except Jordan, NO ONE played every single game of his career with the ferocity and intensity mixed with elite skills, that Patrick Ewing did...his lack of rings has nothing to do with him, and everything to do with Michael Jordan and Knicks management for not getting the right pieces around him...the only current star player who is cut from the same beast-like warrior mentality is Russell Westbrook
@ednelson2501
@ednelson2501 7 лет назад
Notice how Parrish was in foul trouble. Ewing was to much for him also. Only Shaq was similar to what Patrick Ewing did on a nightly basis. the ONLY thing that stopped Patrick Ewing from winning titles was the supporting cast. They were good, but sometimes not good enough.

@ednelson2501
@ednelson2501 7 лет назад
Hakeem did all he could to stop Ewing and the knicks in that final. He did too. It was Ewing , Hakeem and the Admiral at the time. then a few years later Shaq and Zo showed up. That was a great era for the nba . The centers were dominant. The teams hadnt realized how important the 3 point shot was yet. It was a few feet further also. The moving in for the 3 point line changed the game forever. Its great now but my era was the 80s and 90s. There is no more detroit teams with Lambeer, Rodman and john salley. Them days are gone forever. Now everybody is looking for a stretch 4. And the low post game is gone.

Boing Vert is a rip off son, it's just plyometric exercises you can find anywhere. Google the Vert Jump Bible, it's essentially the same thing, except it's online for free lol first result on google is the PDF. If you want to gain real hops though, you're gonna have to go to a gym, unless you're crazy dedicated to home workouts. You can't half-ass vertical leap.

Embiid's game is identical to Ewing….the only thing Embiid and Olajuwon both have in common is that they are both African
@RJNumber45
@RJNumber45 5 лет назад
nah...Embiid doesnt have Ewing's intensity, and he doesnt attack on BOTH ends for 48 minutes every night, like Ewing did...but i can see the comparisons with some of the footwork around the basket and the way theyre both built and move
@xXEliminatorXx99
@xXEliminatorXx99 5 лет назад
TelecasterGod Yes. The movement is pretty similar. More "clumsy" (not in a bad way lol) and not as fluid as Hakeem/Shaq.
@RJNumber45
@RJNumber45 5 лет назад
@@xXEliminatorXx99 exactly...Olajuwon was lighter and quicker on his feet and toes, than Ewing or Embiid... Ewing was physically stronger and brung it every night more than Olajuwon...Early in his career Olajuwon got called lazy at times...coincidentally (or not) in 1992 after he committed to Islam and changed the spelling of his first name, thats when his career took off... before then, Ewing and David Robinson owned him...after 92, NO ONE could stop Olajuwon...Ewing played him even for the most part in the 94 Finals, but John Starks choked away game 7 (2 for 18) so Olajuwon forever has that 94 series over Ewing

When the Pacers played the Knicks, as a Pacer fan, Patrick Ewing was never the guy I worried most about. For the most part, Rik Smits, Dale Davis, and Antonio Davis played him pretty well. Guys like John Starks, Larry Johnson, Alan Houston, and Letrell Sprewell were much more of a concern for me.
@RJNumber45
@RJNumber45 5 лет назад
as a Knicks fan i remember that rivalry and youre right, the Pacers did match up well with the Davises and Smits...but they, and the Bulls and Rockets were the exceptions.. Ewing dominated everyone else
@Gabriela1Acevedo
@Gabriela1Acevedo 5 лет назад
@@RJNumber45 the Knicks went to the 99 finals without Ewing, I think he got injured the first round and was out for the playoffs. Knicks beat the Heat first round, Hawks second round, and Pacers third round, lost to Spurs in finals. He would of really help the Knicks against Spurs in the finals, since they were going against twin towers.

Olajuwon had a better career than Ewing but at his best Ewing was better than Olajuwon. That was around 1989-1993.
@HailKingCeezer
@HailKingCeezer 6 лет назад
From 89-93, Hakeem averaged more rebounds, assists, steals, blocks and 1 less pt per game with slightly less USG than Ewing. Hakeem had better PER, and more Win Shares. It's not even close in playoffs as Hakeem is one of the best playoff performers of all time and always got even better playoff time. Ewing, Admiral and Hakeem were all up there at the top and amazing in their own ways. Shame that Ewing and Robinson were alrady 25 when they were rookies. They'd be a lot higher in career totals lists for pts, reb and blocks if they came in as 22 year old rookies or younger. Ewing had an amazing college career though and that has to count toward his overall career as a player.

@NikS952 7 лет назад
I dunno, maybe I'm nuts but this isn't all that impressive to me. I would go out on a limb and say that a guy like Boogie is a better player than Ewing. That's offense only, we all know Ewing outshines him on defense many times over. But Ewing got his 51 on about 5 pretty similar moves, while Cousins could have attacked way differently given the possessions Ewing had in this game. That little running layup looked so awkward and uncomfortable, he's so used to just banging in the post, turning and throwing it up. Cousins wouldn't have had any trouble with that layup, but more importantly he could have just popped a midrange J right there and gotten the 2 points way quicker/easier.
@ryancollins8455
@ryancollins8455 7 лет назад
Chuck Ewing took the knicks to the playoffs for over a decade and took them to the finals, Cousins still hasn't been close to making an 8th seed
@NikS952
@NikS952 7 лет назад
I don't mean what they achieved and whatnot, that's all irrelevant, has a lot to do with teams, coaches, opposition and so on and so forth. I just mean from a pure skill level, Cousins seems to me (undeniably, in fact) to be the better talent. I mean this is Ewing's career high, the most times he ever put it in the bucket, the most opportunity to see ALL the variety in his game. And we saw 4 and a half moves, one of which he was very uncomfortable doing lol. Cousins without a doubt has a better arsenal than Ewing, at least in my view. I'd like to be proven wrong, however.
@eltongoh3974
@eltongoh3974 7 лет назад
I think you're right in saying his set of moves were limited as compared to modern Cs like Cousins or Davis. But to me, having a reliable move set of 5 moves actually served him well enough as he was still pretty darn effective even after his knees were pretty much screwed after Georgetown. In the end, reliability trumps variety - especially since he can still pull it off with his imposing physical stature. He might get found out some times by better defenders, but I guess it wasn't the case so much that he had to radically change his skill set.
@NikS952
@NikS952 7 лет назад
Yeah you're right. I was about to go into an argument about how his limited moveset wouldn't work at all today and he'd be just a Joakim Noah style player, but that's too hypothetical - who's to say he couldn't have learned different skills himself and ended up just as dominant.
@NikS952
@NikS952 7 лет назад
How so though? I mean, isn't my argument pretty solid? Boogie clearly has a better offensive arsenal - he's got all of Ewing's moves as well as drives, ball handling, deep shooting, floaters etc etc
