@@silver3344 If you think standing around waiting to make the perfect pass is the way to win then that's the real problem. A player with his skill even at his age should have 30+ goals. More than one goal at least every other game. For a player with his nickname, he should be very close to the same player he was when Chicago beat Flyers.
@@Wheels8504You do realize he has 20 goals and 44 points in 46 games? That’s .43 goals/game, almost a goal every other game that you just stated. He’s playing well, he’s probably our 2nd best player and is making 2.5 million. There are plenty of players to complain about, Kane is not one of them.
I'm not even sure what she was asking there. Seems like Patrick cut her off because most of Helene's questions seem kinda pointless. So he might have just guessed so he could deliver a thoughtful non-answer and move on.
There's no telling what the future holds. Kane is already 35 years old and yes he played well for us this year but he could drastically decline in the next couple seasons. I like having him on the team but we should keep him but at short term 1-2 year deals. If he plays well in those seasons, then yeah resign him to another short term 1-2 year deal. No sense to risk signing him to a 5 year contract and lets say he starts declining in year 3. I'm not saying that it will happen but it's possible. Gotta be smart about signing players in their mid 30s. Small, low risk high reward contracts are the best
Of course we can’t take for granted that Detroit will do better next year, since there are so many factors. Even if Detroit would improve every aspect of their game and be a significantly better team you never know how the dynamics will change in the league.
Seems like a 50-50 to me. Is the ballyhooed Kane-Cat chemistry (which hasn't been all that great, franklhy) enough to keep him around? We'll know soon enough, I guess.
@@Nall412 Not sure that's a fair assessment. Blashill never got any of his teams to overachieve. But I don't disagree that Lalonde seems less and less like the coach to take us into the future. I like him personally, but he seems more like a bystander than a coach who's inspiring his team to commit and improve.
This is the second season with him.. You guys dont know anything about Lalonde in the locker room and hes taken this team to another level, cant deny that. So many fans just find something and someone to blame no matter what. We are fighting for a playoff spot in april, thats something to be excited about. People like you will never be happy
@@scoteyBlashill overachieved with his roster of players he had for most of his tenure here. The fact Detroit werent dead last for 2 or 3 years straight is quite something. You go back and look at those rosters Blashill had….
Please don't leave Kaner. Please stay and mentor the young ones. You've got your cups, you don't need another. Sure you could go back to Chicago and mentor Bedard, but they got rid of you anyway. I know Newsy sucks, but maybe you can convince Steve to replace him. Remember, Kane. Detroit loves you!!!!
Feel sorry for Copp; hoping he gets over that injury soon, but he needs to find another team to pay for next season along side Lalonde finding another job after this season is over. The Wings blew it, even if they make the playoffs. They still blew it. There's no confidence going into the playoffs even if they make it in. The month of March was just too embarrassing to reminisce. These team was reminded that there is such a thing as playing defense and and setting up offensive plays when they brought up Edvinnson. It took a rookie to wake this team up in the short term. Now, with their backs against the wall, they're in line to blow a chance at getting into the playoffs this season. I don't think they do anyway, but even if they do, they'll likely be beaten in 4 straight, especially since Lalonde doesn't seem to have any sense of urgency. Regardless of what happens regarding the playoffs or not, Lalonde should not be coaching the Wings next season and several of the UFAs/Rentals, other than Kane, need to leave Detroit.
Not surprised that Kaner sounds deflated and ready to jump ship. But if they win 4 and the rest of the teams come through for the Wings it will be the Playoff miracle. The question is if this team is ready to go... Now it looks like they all signed off and look to a long R&R. I have a hard time seeing us crush Pittsburgh
Lalonde responding to the disaster of last night by showing up to practice the next day and burying Kane w Compher and Perron rather than putting the obvious best first line back together probably doesn't help the vibes.
A coach needs to consider all lineups, so it’s a bit more complicated than just analyzing which might be the best first line… And if you’re talking about Cat-Larkin-Kane they have sometimes allowed more than they have generated, even on home ice, so it’s not as if that line is always on top anyway.
@@lenaforsgren They've outscored opponents 14-6 for the year in 150 minutes together. Best on the team of any line by a lot. The Larkin Raymond Perron line he was running out there has gotten outscored consistently by a huge margin. It is what it is.
I think Kane will resign. He seems to like it here and is in a good leadership role. I think playoffs or not a new coach is needed to really instill some consistency with this team but the roster will def be better next year.
The fact that he said Kasper was never an option should be reason enough to fire this clown. I'm sick of the safety call ups especially when czarnik is passing the puck right to the opposing team for a goal against.
Definitely Kane will come back He knows that this team has all the necessary traits for being good to great to championship in 2 to 3 years. This year looks like players had good chemistry and if most of these players come back, they can really go to 2 rounds next year. We can also sign Sidney crosby next year since he will be a free agent in 24
@@ryanb3908 Kane's got 12 even strength non-empty net goals in 27 games since the all star break. The entire current 'top line' of Larkin Cat Raymond has 13 even strength non-empty net goals in 76 games since the break. Kane on a good team for 82 games w 2 good linemates would have crazy numbers this year.
@@ryanb3908 He seems to skate really well when he's scoring way more goals than everyone else combined the last 2 months. Also if he's a liability how come the team is outscoring opponents at 5v5 by more w him on the ice than w just about every other forward? Only Cat is better at 5v5 differential.
They dont like the Red Wings but that's got nothing to do with you guys Those old teams beat lots of their teams so you got no chance You guys werent on those teams This is your team boys to take wherever you want to go Snap to it around 6 oclock Skatin and shootin like a missile Ive seen it all season Captain Canada Be ready boys You got this
Kane is definitely peacing after this season. Unless we dump some of these “veterans” to free up cap space he’s out. I’m glad we brought up Aston Reese though. He will definitely help this team. Lolololol
La L isn’t it anymore. He sounds depressed af as a coach. Gives me so much confidence lol. Wonder what the players think. I think we are seeing it. NO CONFIDENCE.
If he's not gonna shoot the puck, and if anything get assists off a rebound then there was no reason to bring him in. He needs to be the guy who won against Flyers. Shoot first always. The fact that he holds the puck as long as he does for a pass that most of the time isn't there is a joke. He is a player who should have at least 37 goals in a short season that he's had.
Based on what? Have you been watching this guy play? Just look at his goals vs assists in the past 15 years and then look at this season’s stats. Or just the fact that in the history of US born players he’s 3 pts away from being tied for 2nd in assists, but is only 6th in goals. Kane may have pretty unreal vision and awareness of the net, and has scored some sick goals in his time, but he has ALWAYS been more of a playmaker/assists guy, especially in the regular season. He’s actually more of a “shoot first” guy now than he has ever been.
Goodbye Kane I really wanted you to stick around. I’ve become a huge fan since you’ve been here. But I do not expect you to stay with this coach and this team with your talent level in your last years of hockey. It’s too bad we squandered it away.
We can take on any team and beat them! We can lose all 4 if our remaining games, Win a middle amount of games, or even win all 4. I sure as hell know this team is ready go to war in our remaining games.
😂 you’re more positive than me right now. I think she’s done bud. It was fun while it lasted. Fun season overall. But them making playoffs is a long shot. I don’t see it happening. The loss against WSH lastnight, did them in
@@Nall412 Hold it were just 1 point down. Did you realize Wash was on a 6 game Losing streak before beating us? We just need to find that way to hit our stride to get back in. Don't pull an old me by being negative.
@@landen3578🤣🤣😭😭😭✌🏻. Ah man. I dunno. It just sucks that now we have to rely on other teams to crap the bed. Just sucks. Especially where we were at in the standings before that 7 game losing streak.
Wish I had ur positivity. Every big game this team has had except for that last buffalo win, they have shit the bed. If we Win 3 of last 4 I think they might be able to. But washington has to lose also.
they initially wanted to do 3 years but wanted to see how his hip reacted. lets be real he knows next year they are making a serious push i think he resigns for sure. he fits in too well and this team is on the rise kane has 3 cups he doesnt have much else to prove
@@mattmcnicki think a lot of people is really underestimating how he values being around his close friend Alex DeBrincat (which also has a son the same age as Kane's) and how closely they all bonded also with Larkin, Mo and Lucas.
If he leaves he risks becoming washed up 3rd liner sooner than later (see Blake Wheeler this season). If he stays he knows he’s engrained in top 6 top power play. I think he stays.
Kane knew exactly what he signed up for. You know Stevie told him behind closed doors that there’s a chance the wings wouldn’t make the playoffs and yet he still signed with us
I have no hope in other teams. It’s pointless. It’ll probably be the same thing tomorrow, Buffalo plays like shit and cant beat Washington. No point in it anymore.
Or maybe you don’t know hockey and you don’t know what else he could’ve done these past 20 games. His lines are weird. He has no bark or bite. He’s soft. I think a lot of the players don’t truly respect him. He’s lifeless and I liked him a lot at first. He doesn’t have a winner mentality. His mentality is we are glad to be here. I’d be pissed af with this team and how they blew the lead they had. He has another year to do something but I’d bet my life that he doesn’t and next year will be the same.
@@cameronfranke8566explain then? What’s clueless about seeing who this coach is now? He’s weak? He’s a chump and you want 20-30+ y/o making millions and have swagger to respect this dude??? Nah that’s why when they lost Larkin everything fell apart bc he has the rooms respect! Not the coach. He’s not a leader! He has a great system he learned from being an assistant under an actual amazing coach. He’s a fraud 100%
time to face it fam - Larkin is a second line center at best and definitely not captain material. this team should be amazing on paper - building on a weak foundation never ends well. and before any of the sheep say "we sucked without him!". yeah bro - a true leader creates other leaders. that clearly isn't happening.
