If Kane doesn’t resign, I blame the coach and the players collapsing after a nine point cushion. Kane has brought life to this team that hasn’t been here in quite some time and if he leaves, I will resent this team for a long time.
Then resent them. If the price and term is right, he'll be resigned. If he signs a stupidly expensive contract and under performs next season, you'll blame the coaching again. There's a long term plan here that is quite evident to some of us fans. Signing Patrick Kane isn't going to make or break those plans.
The team is moving forward, no doubt about it. It’d be a minor disappointment if they miss the Playoffs this year, but…they’ve been in the mix all season, which you can’t say about years past. They also have one of the best farm systems in the league, so…when they don’t resign Perron and let Ghost go…it really won’t hurt that much because you’re just bringing up the kids from GR. Not that I don’t love Perron and Ghost, there’s just a log jam at D, and Perron’s numbers have really fallen off this season. He was a 30 goal scorer last year, this season he has 15. I think you could bring up a Kasper, Mazeur, or Danielson to play the 2C spot, flip Copp or Compher to the wing, and get the same production if not more.
@@williamsteffey3434I agree with you except for Compher on the wing. The guy is made to be a center. I'm sure he could dabble, but he's a top end 3c for sure.
We made sacrifices and took risks last season so we could make it to the playoffs this season. 100% guaranteed LaLonde is fired at the end of all this.
For your last point about him not having to be the best player every night on a more talented team... I would think that's the opposite of what he would want. Kane seems to love being in the spot light and getting attention. On a team full of other stars, he has to share with them. In Detroit he has a chance to be the hero every night.
The wings are exactly what we thought at the beginning of the season. A team that’s on the verge of starting to get into the playoffs, but it’s going to be 50/50. Kane and Yzerman both knew exactly what the wings were going to be and are. Kane got his chance to get a lot of ice time and prove he’s still got “it.” From here, I would expect him to go get the biggest contract he can get on a true cup contender. And I’m sure that both Kane and Yzerman were on the exact same page about it since the day he was signed. Next year the wings won’t be a cup contender yet, either. They are going to drop some veterans and make room for some rookies to join the team. That’s not going to make the team better than it already is; at least not right away. They will be lucky to hit the same number of points as this year if a lot of rookies are getting big minutes.
Keep in mind though, the "rookies" we're bringing up (if I had to call it now, Edvinsson and Berggren replace Perron and Ghost) have like, 15-25 NHL games between them, if not more, and the "veterans" that drop off have been chaotically neutral at best. Not to mention how impressive players like Kasper and Mazur are playing right now. It wouldn't surprise me if they have the potential to be impact players here and there, or maybe even crack the lineup at some point. The best part of all of this though is that Raymond and Seider and Veleno and Rasmussen, and even Edvinsson to an extent, have all grown as players this season and will be much better equipped next season to compensate for some of the more 'rookie mistake' gaffes that will befall some of the new rookies, which will offset some of their inexperience. Plus, as contentious as it may or may not be, we could be seeing a new face behind the bench come next season, which could shuffle the odds all over the place. I concede fully that the 24/25 Red Wings won't be taking home any hardware for the season, but I'd be confident putting money on them having 4-7 more points than they end up with this year, and I think it's still within the realm of plausibility that Kane helps us get there.
PK is a future HOF great and a consummate pro who is more focused on these last few games than contracts. Based on how his body feels after this season and the offers he gets, I think he'll do what's best for his future and his family - which is as it should be. I love the guy and hope he stays but not if it ruins his physical well being. If he calls it quits I hope the Wings find a good spot for him in the org, he has so much to contribute to the game even if he's not playing.
If he calls it quits, I highly doubt he'll go into the front office right away and is probably still more likely to join with the Hawks or Buffalo depending on what his family wants
@@redbeard6403no,kidding,Chicago,or bust,no Kane,no StanleyCups, end of story,3 cups in 6 years,if not for the salary cap there would of been more, truth, take a look on what great players they lost, you can say that about a lot of teams, but the Blackhawks lost a lot more!Truth!Red Wings,no Kane not even close to playoffs,TRUTH!
@@redbeard6403based on his interviews I could sense he has some resentment against Kyle Davidson. He won't join the hawks front office as long as kd is gm there, but I could be wrong
I agree, about the back checking corner stuff, but his prowness, around the net,his pin point passing, his hand eye,are exceptional!Yeah,he can’t skate like he use to,but soon to be 36,he still is a assist!
It would be great if Kane stayed in Detroit, I think he'll test the market. We gave him a platform where he could prove himself. He did what few thought he could do. Whatever Kane decides to do I hope that it works our him.
Kane speaks out but he did not say if he was staying in Detroit or going to another team he said he will make up his mind after the season is over or in the summer sometime.
Great Video, as usual, Lego. I already gave my view about Kane on Detroit in DeBrincat Video. I think that Patrick Kane wants to likely get more than he's making/much more. I am looking at A Possible Return to Chicago. I think that Chicago will look at it as The Same Way He Mentored DeBrincat on The Chicago Blackhawks, is The Very Same Way That He'll Do With Bedard. Let me know what you think
Do you mean cup contender? Then yes. Playoffs contender? They are right now. And why would he care about a cup? He has that. He cares about playing where he's valued, which he wasn't in Chicago. He's valued in Detroit. I can see him re-signing.
I think kane will not stay as i want him to, but lalonde post game interview was depressing. It seems like the wings we once were are not the same wings now. "We are glad to be here" is what he said. Taking opportunities and trying to pull off a win. It used to be the wings felt they needed to be number 1 or its nothing. Now its lets hope we can make it to the playoffs because lalonde said "next year its going to be very different and we might not be where we are at now" so idek if he cares about how he coaches. Just my 2 cents
Basically given his recent comments You and everyone else have NO IDEA what Kane is going to do next season. He's great offensively , but relatively weak defensively. I hope he's back, BUT like everyone else , have NO IDEA what he is going to choose to do. This isn't a story UNTIL it is!!
He’ll get an extension i bet a lot of money on it,he’s not in a rush anymore for making the playoffs like people thought that’s not the case anymore.people just keep forgetting that he already has won 3 cups and only a small handful of active players have won 3.hes not desperate for a cup like ray bourque was lol 🤣,i think what he wants more than anything is the ability to play the amount of minutes he wants on the ice all of which we have for him in Detroit.yzerman has shown he likes veterans only if they’re producing, which Kane has exceeding considering his status.if we let him go this summer we will lose a lot of odds at making the playoffs next season which im sure wont but if Kane is gone we will put ourselves at risk for missing the playoffs based on the production and leadership he brings to this team, without Kane we will not be making the playoffs.
I'm not saying I think this could happen, but I do want to say that I think this could work: A one year extension, roughly in the ballpark of $5.875, with full trade provisions catered to Kane's preferences. I believe this team will be good enough, once Edvnisson and maybe Berggren and/or another ready to go prospect come up next year, to fight for a D3 in the same kind of way they're fighting for a WC2 this year, and I can only be certain that Kane will be a massive driving force for that given a full 82 game schedule with almost a year of conditioning between him and his surgery. However, I respect that this team will not be in anybody's top 10 cup favorites even then, and if things look bleaker than is contextually manageable in the moment, I think we could get a decent retool out of trading him by the deadline to a team looking to boost their offense. I have no experience managing contracts or a team, and I reserve the right for any of this to sound equally inexperienced, but I feel like this is an avenue that could help ensure we make the playoffs and be competitive, like Patty Kane wants, without losing him to a team with whom we may be in direct competition.
I think he will stay, but if they don't sweep the final 3 games it will be a bit less likely. The team should be improved next season with Raymond emerging, plus Seider with some better help in Edvinsson. Would should see some additional moves in the offseason to address the need for another top 6 winger (or a better 2nd line center) plus at least one right D addition via FA or trade. Goalie situation will be tough with very few FA options and trades will be costly.
I've seen many players on Detroit teams, who are pending free agents. They say they are happy in Detroit. ...and then they sign with another team, in another city. He's probably gone after the season.
Keep Kane. Second line Cat until he gets over being hero struck and starts finding the net like he’s paid for then he can play beside Showtime and Larkin. Lately Razor has been doing what Debrinct should be doing. Finding twine
What I have seen, and I am sure most Wings fans would agree, there needs to be better talent around him. That's good for Kane, but it's good for Detroit obviously. The Wings have the money for him. Something to consider is that a good portion of the forwards will need extended or replaced to field a team next year. Perhaps Kane re-signs with Detroit and points out others he would like to play with to complete the forward and or defensive core. I think Stevie Y would consider it, and both of these guys know what it takes to win. I also think the opportunity to play with Patrick Kane on a team that is right on the edge of being really good could add drawing power to get interest from some big free agent signing, perhaps at just below market value for the same reasons. If Kane has any interest in staying that conversations starts after this game tonight, win or lose. 2-3 years at 5-6.5 per? I think he could get that or more than that anywhere, but I do believe he likes it here. Fans, including myself, have taken to him being in the Winged-wheel better than I would have imagined. He resigns, I purchase a Kane Wings jersey. I made that commitment a month into him playing this season. I haven't bought a jersey since Mantha... so maybe that's a curse. lol
What makes you think he wants to stay. He wants to be on a contender. If they can barely make playoffs with him, why would he try again with the short time he has left in the league?
I think Kane's interest in coming back depends on how much longer he plans on playing. If he is thinking only one or two more years at most, then he probably will want to move on to a team that has Stanley Cup potential currently. If he plans to play longer, then he might stick around with the Wings until they get to that level.
Of course the Red Wings would like to keep Kane if he wants to stay. But given that Seider and Raymond are also due a big pay increase, I don't think that we are going to be able to outbid anyone for him, now that his value has presumably gone up. There are also other teams that are closer to competing for a Stanley Cup, which is a big deal given how few playing years Kane has left. Given these downsides to Detroit from his perspective, I will be delightfully surprised if he is still a Red Wing next fall. But it ultimately depends on what he wants.
I blame it on a system that allows for zero creativity and a top D-man (Seider) being given a boatload of defensive zone minutes and isn't available to feed guys like Debrincat.
Who needs creativity when the D can’t even trust the forwards to follow the coverage? Boston’s decade-long defensive system has never been a creative affair, just complex and focused. But it’s also implemented all the way down through their minor program to create modular pieces. This doesn’t feel like creativity is what this untalented team is lacking.
PK is semi retired you cant expect him to play the way he did in CHI. Remove him from the superstar role and turn him into a support player. Surround him with other talent and the team and PK will excel.
Depends on the certain mindset he is in. I see a few factors here… One is he likes the region and his parents come from Buffalo to see his games not a far drive and true he could go back to Rangers but I think he would have already done that this season. Two is he grew up somewhat here playing hockey and three I think he wants to stick with original six he’s proven that so far. Four Debrincat still a factor why he came here and die with his recent struggles as per your last video does he Kane leave off on a sour taste with this maybe being the last times in there career’s they ever play again with each other. I would love Kane to sign and retire here for the end of his career honestly!! I also think to factor in who they could bring in? Maybe let some guys go or don’t resign and bring in say Stamkos who Stevie Y knows too well! Just some spice to consider 😂
@@Electronidus No coincidence they went from third to out of the playoffs after signing him. Not sure if he is still in pain or team docs don't want him going into corners. Good on the pp but can't back check or skate anymore.
@@Ryan-yi5ro What a hater Kane is as lazy as ovechkin Yet they always find a way to make a play and score 😁 Id keep him regardless because I know he will always make a play that is needed The rest of the team needs the help
Here is my take on this. Kane will want a 3 yr contract. If Detroit is willing to do that he will probably stay. I doubt he came to Detroit trying to make a run at the Stanley cup. Detroit this year wasn’t even expected to make the playoffs. I’m sure if another team makes a 4 yr offer he might leave. At 35 yrs old he probably is looking more for security than the cup. At the time he signed with the wings he would know that the wings were off 2-3 yrs from being a contender.
Lol everyone loves to over analyze. If he stays, he stays. If he asks for too much money, therefore hindering us signing our long term players like Seider and Raymond, then no. We still have a top end prospect pool with guys knocking on the door that can easily step into a top 6 spot next season. I dont think Stevie signs him for any more than 2 years at maybe 4-5 millio tops.
No one here actually knows or has ANY IDEA OR CLUE what Patrick Kane is going to do next year and season…. So stop with your opinions and outside speculation, and patiently wait like the rest of us. To many goddamn Social Media and Internet GM’s out here nowadays
I think he stays. The Wings have the money to pay him, the team is trending up no matter how the rest of this season goes, and he likes playing with D-Cat. It’s not like the Wings would be signing him to an eight year deal…I’m thinking two - three seasons maybe with a team option at the end if he keeps the point totals up.
Bring Kane back. He had a great year. And with a full season we and him could be insane for the team. Stevie Y will only make the team better and Kane does that.
Great historical player, future HOF player….. Not an amazing player at this point in his career. A liability on defense, one way player…… not in our future. Get Gudas.
