Lamar Jackson has done more with Less. Never had a #1 WR and won a Unanimous MVP, Won a Playoff Game, and is the 3rd Winningest QB currently in the NFL behind Mahomes and Brady. The fact that he gets glossed over in these conversations is embarrassing and foul.
I think they are only talking about the qb’s that have a playoff spot . If the ravens have one then I think it’s because he’s not an MVP candidate this year .

Rodgers included, and he was the most talented QB by far before Mahomes came in. Lamar is the one guy who has the talent to match Mahomes but he doesn't have the organizational help around him. They completely wasted Lamar's rookie contract without giving him any weapons. If Lamar can escape and go to Miami he can legitimately challenge Mahomes.

Boyd has been in the league for 6 years, if he were a pro bowler he'd have made at least one pro bowl appearance in that time lol. Higgins is good and Chase is extremely good. But Burrow also has already shown he can do well without Chase, so the idea that he's relying on an insane receiving core to do well is pretty out-there. Burrow's good, and Mahomes is good, I don't think it's as clearcut as you make it out to be.

Checking in as a massive Chargers and Herbert fan: it's Mahomes and it's not even a discussion. He's in a tier on his own. It's just not fun to even discuss anymore, so talk shows keep having segments like these. I agree that Burrow doesn't have enough of a resume to warrant this talk...you do see he has the character traits Brady has. In terms of his mental approach, work ethic, leadership, clutch, etc. They don't have similar playing styles, but I understand the comp in that respect
Look at the schedule that the Chiefs have been playing versus the schedule Burrow and the Bengals have had. Burrow had played tougher teams and better defenses than the Chiefs and Mahomes has had the chance to have the Texans, Jaguars, Cardinals, Colts, Rams, and 2 games against the Raiders, Broncos, and Seattle. Weigh the stats against the defenses and teams and Mahomes stat advantage doesn't look so tough or large enough to justify the hype. Patrick Mahomes is a awesome quarterback no doubt but Burrow is playing MVP caliber football and playing the leagues divisional leaders every week and even touched up the Chiefs and outplayed Mahomes for the third time in 2022.
The Broncos have had a top 5 defense all year. Bucs had a top 10 defense. 49ers had the #1 defense in the league and Mahomes put 44 on them. Chiefs have also faced all the AFC division leaders, plus the 49ers, plus the Chargers are a playoff team and got swept. Plus the Jags are in the hunt and the Chiefs handled them too. Mahomes has better numbers than Burrow and more wins without Tyreek Hill and without a good defense. The MVP race is not even close at this point.
Keenan Allen played 16 games last year and 14 the year before. Mike Williams played 16 last year and 15 the year before. Herbert still didn’t make the playoffs…
Well yes but also you have to consider the fact that the chargers suffered from that significantly record wise. You take mahomes best weapon from him and he finishes (likely) 14-3 the next season.
Chiefs fan but I admire Burrow's cool head and toughness under duress. He is very accurate, even with pressures and sacks. Mahomes makes some unbelievable plays that only a few QBs can make. Mahomes and the offense need to be more consistent in playoff games. Sometimes the offense disappears for an entire half (AFCCG against the Patriots, SB against the Niners, against the Texans down 24-0, and against Cincy up big at halftime and basically nothing in the 2nd half. Bengals are the better overall team. Their defense is very good

Burrow is also the smartest QB of the four, he knows how to exploit mismatches and read defenses better. Mahomes, Allen and Herbert shine through their athleticism when plays extend or breakdown

Chiefs have played all the AFC division leaders, the Chargers twice, the NFC South leader, the 49ers, etc. 5-2 vs playoff teams. Bills only have 4 wins vs playoff teams and that's counting that the Dolphins make it.

Skip is absolutely right on his assessment of Burrow give it time he's going to prove to everybody he's one of the best if not the best. He doesn't have to rely on a cannon for an arm or a great ability to scramble and leap over people or to throw across his body side arm and do crazy stuff. He just drops back and carves up your defense.
And Mahomes could win another MVP, another Superbowl, and another Superbowl MVP this year and people will still claim that Burrow is "on the same level or tier" as Mahomes

It seems like pass catching players never get their flowers in the mvp race since when people look at yards and receptions, you always link thr QB to the receivers. They'd have gotten the ball back with a lead and I forget how much time but probably could've salted most of it away, then put the pressure back in Indy.
