The Vancouver Canucks have signed Jake DeBrusk, Danton Heinen, and Kieffer Sherwood.

9.5 is what we were looking at on Guentzel and we got 3 quality players, top 6 and 2 tocchet players in the bottom 6.

I figure worst case scenario you put him with Garland and Joshua. Debrusk can't be much worse than Mikheyev. I don't think Petey liked playing with that guy. I don't blame him.

Petey needs a guy that goes to the net fearless. DeBrusk and Hoglander could be a really good line. Kuzmenko was that when he was playing for a contract. After he signed the deal he wasn't nearly as commited to getting gritty. He was almost a power forward in his 39 goal year

I would have preferred Guentzel, but none of these contracts will cripple us with the cap, which is an important factor these days. I also believe that there is room for these guys to grow their game in Vancouver. I was pretty heartbroken when I got up this morning to see almost all of the big free agents off the board, but at least we got something.

canucks are more well rounded now, should be very strong on the PK, they might not have as much fire power if they'd landed that 1 high paid star (guentzel, reinhart, or stamkos, or even marchessault), but they should be able to win close games & make the playoffs again...& who knows podkolzin (last chance) might have a breakout year, & can hoglander match again or even improve on 24 goals? can boeser get close to 40 again? can miller (& petey) both get over 100 pts again?

Guentzel would have capped us. Now we have Heinen to replace Suter with 9 & 6, Debrusk to replace Milk Carton Mik, with Hogs & EP40, 3rd line already ok, and Sherwood on the 4th with Suter and Podkolzin

Bottom 6 just improved and you added some grit and speed in Sherwood and Heinen and DeBrusk will be a 30 goal scorer playing with Pettersson. Just hurts losing Zadorov.

I think this is a garbage day for the Canucks. Jake is at best a second line winger. He isn't a finisher, which Pettersson needs, he doesn't have great speed like Rick said he wanted and so there's no real fit. We needed a bonafide top 6 scorer. The other 2 are probably 3rd liners on any other team but we have Dakota and Garland there so we are paying 3rd $ for 4th line players.

Don't care whether its DeBrusk + Heinen + Sherwood vs. Guentzel. Hopefully the new crew helps EP40 find his groove again and gives some consistency in his linemates. I dunno about the rest but I have faith in the Management Team to get the right guys and the Coaching Staff to get these guys up to snuff.

just keep the staff we have. these guys know how to win cups or build long term tough teams.. obviously playoffs are always up in the air but if Demko could stay healthy (which I doubt), they have a good chance.. never say never

Am happy with all signings. But since they knew they were not going to sign Zadarov and Lindholm I wish they would have got something for selling their rights before draft. Like the Canes did for Guentzel and Dallas.did for Tanev(2nd round pick!!).

I don't like this, but I'll be happy if debrusk comes in and is a consistent 50 pt guy in our top 6. He just isn't that yet, so it's another gamble... for 7 years. The rest of the signings are good value, but we don't really need more bottom 6 forwards, it's just a clutter down there now. I would have rather seen guentzel at 9 mil rather than this package, but they didn't want to trade for his rights.

I'm not really sure we do. I think that garland and Joshua can and should be moved into the top 6 this year. DeBrusk, Miller, Boeser, Dak, Petey, Garland as the top 6. I wouldn't mind Skinner tho on a 1yr deal

Hes a soft player, boston kept trying to slot him top 6 and he failed couldnt do it, thats why they let him walk. Too much for a third liner. We already have a third line.

Zadorov is getting 5x6 and lindholm is 7.75x7, I don't think the Canucks could match that. Getting Debrusk + Heinen for the same money as Lindholm alone seems decent, we'll see what else happens.

@@michaella5799 I have to disagree as you have to consider the last half season where goal scoring became an issue. Teams this year now know how to play the Canucks and look at how Hughes was shut down. They have zero physicality as Meyers takes penalties every time he hits. Losing Z was a massive blow!

@@michaella5799 I completely agree! It is hard to not see that the Canucks have no big hitters on the backend that don't take penalties delivering them. I just can't see them making the playoffs as they still haven't addressed a linemate for Pettersson.
