What he meant by that is those 4 players have finishing abilities, Slafkovsky is not there yet, He’s definitely a cornerstone piece for this team 100% but we do not know if he’s gonna have another great season.. Dach is a little more experienced if he’s healthy he’s going to produce… So this is what he meant..

@@lerobshow6300 Slafkovsky 100% has a higher ceiling than Suzuki… With Slafkovsky’s big body, Passing abilities, Heavy shot, Physical play, Slaf will pick up more points than Suzuki in my opinion… Suzuki is basically at his potential 70-82 points in that range with a strong two way game, Slafkovsky has 80+ point potential… Slaf had a better season at 19 years old in the NHL than Suzuki did when he first came into the NHL more goals as well, when he’s Suzukis age he will be almost like Rantanen…

"If Patrik Laine is playing well and help you, that means he's scoring goals." I don't think that was the essence of what Kent Hughes meant. The team is young. He wants veterans to help out. Patrik Laine could score 15... but if he's a decent mentoring help to coach St-Louis, those 15 goals doesn't matter all that much. But if he does score 30+ AND is a help in other aspects, look at that re-signing in 2026.
@alex-dj9bx
@alex-dj9bx 20 дней назад
Not a all. They said that even if he already have somes great experience in the NHL, he is still a player at a young age (26 since April) who need to prove his elite level talent with a ton of potential. Also, after that, Laine himself claimed that he doesn’t want to come back as a 30 goals scorer once again, but as a 40-50 goals scorer.

35g40a range in 75-80 games. The second line gets a big bump. The biggest movement will happen in the bottom 6 over the next two years. That is where the lack of stability will keep them from making the playoffs this year, but the will be close.

Imagine laine actually lands and sticks long term In 3 to 5 years you have Laine Suzuki Demidov Caufield Dach Slafkovsky Roy Hage Newhook Armia Beck RHP Guhle Mailloux Hutson Reinbacher Xhekaj Barron Fowler Montembeault And in 3 years, with Armia at 33, Monty and Laine at 29, those would be your only players "past their prime" And in depth, you have struble and engstrom at defense, dobes and primeau in the net, and half a dozen forwards (example, filip mesar) who could make the bottom 6 to replace injuries

What Mike Johnson is saying is Laine, Suzuki, Dach and Caufield are the two finishers on those two lines, If dach is healthy he can score goals and set up plays, Slafkovsky there is still a question mark there, Will Slaf continue to progress or will there be some bumps in the road which is fine he’s still young… So he just means that those 4 players if they are healthy you can count on them to be those guys for sure… Slafkovsky is 100% apart of the core but there is still question marks like is said about Slaf and even Newhook… The Question Mark for Dach isn’t can he produce it’s can he stay healthy, With Slaf and Newhook can they both build on their progress and produce to the level they did last season or better… With caufield, Laine, Suzuki and Dach you’re almost guaranteed to get productive seasons from those guys they are experienced NHL players now, Not veterans but experienced. Mike Johnson isn’t forgetting or dismissing Slafkovsky or Newhook.

I'm gonna Windex you in a minute lol... hilarious 😎__~ Kent does not do windows !!! Wow how about that eh... Patty Laine is a Hab!!! Coming to Montreal he is in a good place and clearly has a much more positive outlook on how to handle himself on and off the ice. Perhaps a rather tough but worthy journey. You have to sort of look at it from his perspective playing in the most passionate market in Hockey, with a rich history (24 Stanley Cups). You have to think he will be out to show that Patty has plenty of game, is focused and has come to play. Congrats on the journey Patty, you will be great with Montreal

If habs are doing alright they’ll keep him; if not Hughes will probably retain 50% and try and flip him for a 1st and change, and it he does good and habs take another step and he’s a contributing member, I’m sure they will run it back another year see where things go and if need be flip him at that deadline. Worst case Hughes adds assets to pick players or trade for when the habs take that playoff contender step, or he becomes a key player in Montreals top 6, pretty great trade for a team that had the cap, from a bruins fan.

The season that if it had been a regular season, the habs would not have come close to making the post season? THAT season? Yeah, sorry, but that was not a valid season. A REAL season is 82 games and is played against ALL teams. Carey Price has NEVER played in the Stanley Cup finals in a legitimate season. NOT ONCE. In fact, the goalie who took them the farthest during Price's tenure on the team was Halak, who was traded for a half bag of pucks as a thank you, because Price and his fragile ego could not deal with sharing the duties with another goalie. Oh... if you take the time to look up the stats, you will discover that Halak's stats are as good as, and in some cases better, than those of Carey Price. The habs traded the wrong guy.

@@steve8803 Yes, the 20-21 Covid shortened season played in empty arenas, for 56 games against only the other Canadian teams. That is not a legitimate season. Price has never played in a genuine Stanley Cup final. In the 21-22 season, Price played 5 games with 1 win and 4 losses. The team did not make the post season. In fact, in Price's career with the team, they missed the post season 4 times, 7 times if you count right up to the present day as he is still a member of the team, making it to the CONFERENCE FINALS only twice, never going any further than that. This is not the career of a HoF goalie, or a goalie who deserves his number retired to the rafters of the Bell Centre with the greats such as Plante, Roy, Dryden and others. Price was a great goalie in limited tournaments such as the World Championships, or the Olympics. But as a full time NHL goalie, he was average at best. The only people who believe Price was a great habs goalie are those not old enough to remember when the team actually did have a great goalie. And no, I did not 'like' my own comment. That is not something I ever do, I am not 12 years old.
