Jean Anne Whorton goes Beyond The Facts, talking to the high school sophomore who has become a conservative hero for refusing to learn his Spanish vocabulary.
One of the most overlooked jokes in this entire segment is that she referenced Thomas Paine as a great American even though he was originally born in Britain
This reminds me of this one book where a kid starts singing the national anthem during class to purposefully disrupt it and his teacher tells him to knock it off. Then he gets in trouble, gets on the news for getting in trouble and the whole thing spirals into a story where he’s framed as a poor innocent patriotic boy who was silenced by his anti-American teacher. Pretty great book.
Oh, I think I’ve read this book! I remember the ending was pretty finny, but I don’t wanna accidentally spoil it lol. I remember the book constantly shifting perspective for each chapter, though
@NZgamer I rarely ever make fun of you mates like that, i think that almost every national stereotype jab, is dry, because the Internet overuses every joke, from Welsh and NZ, to French surrender and polite Canadians, but hay I'm gonna do you a solid and tell you I'm a Tasmanian, make all the necessary inbred, two head, jokes that the Mainlanders do...
This fucking hero was immediately recognisable in The Boys. Cant believe I remember him from one lone Onion video. Goes to show how much I llved this vid.
A girl in my highschool music class refused to sing along to a foreign song with the class because she believed she would betray America. Please end me.
Patriot Jefferson last time I checked (although it seems none of you “true Americans” have looked in a while) true American values were respecting and welcoming other cultures
I don't think you understood the point of the comment, Patriot Jefferson. LOL how is rejecting other people's cultures "standing up for American values"?? America became the great country it is because it welcomed many people of all backgrounds, not because it rejects them... smh
It's both! If I acted like this story was real and showed it to my mom, who doesn't know anything about The Onion, she would believe it. The Onion does a great job delivering real "news" whereas the top 5 news stations are full of bullshit. Unless getting the parts of the news that their corporate sponsors what you to know and leaving out the facts they don't want you to know is okay? If you watch old new videos from 20+ years ago you can see a big difference in the amount of actual news they gave you compared to today with all their bullshit distractions. The Onion Is the One & Only source of "news" for me!
Nearly 10 years ago me and my English (second language) class had to convince our 60+ teacher that The Onion is not a reliable source. To her it seemed a bit too real...
There is no speaking American. American is a nationality. the language that is mostly spoken within America is English. So you must mean that you speak English. In England, people speak English. In many different nations people speak English
Well from your point of view, where learning spanish mostly means youre able to see shitty mexican culture closer, yes, of course spanish sucks. If you learn spanish so you can come to spain, talk to interesting people that speak the actual language, not a retarded version of it, then yes, spanish doesn’t suck.
It's not as ridiculous as it sounds; American English and British English is different enough that some linguists consider them different languages. Chinese and Japanese schools actually have different classes for students who want to learned "Yingyu" and "Eigo" (English) and "Meiguo" and "Beigo" (American).
Let's be more drug addict brainless patriotic mother f.....around the world serving the elites socialists communists capitalists etc etc. Instead of fighting poverty the government just wants us to fight and distract our attention
I want to live in the America where the media goes after the mexicans for the americans instead of the americans for the mexicans. I'd unironically appreciate the contents of this video as reality vs. the reality we have today.
And who do you feel superior to? It's interesting that so many people go off on this racism kick and they are being just as racist as those they are condemning. They think doing the same thing in reverse is any better. Total hypocrisy.
@GDI: Of course I'm not making sense to you. You just made my point for me. Thank you. Let me spell it out for you: in marginalizing a segment of society by calling them names, looking down upon them, and calling them racists, you are doing the exact thing you accuse them of doing--only in reverse. Yet, in your eyes, their racism is bad and yours is good. Why is that? Two wrongs do not make it right, my friend. And that you can't see that you are doing exactly what you accuse them of doing is very telling about the way you think--your "white" trash comment is very telling. Is that phrase any better than referring to a black person with various derogatory terms?
here is the real-life version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BO1BlsQopTQ.html&lc=z22judtxqxnnsnnlcacdp435urjwyw0gdhcpc0a1vmdw03c010c.1542471367381417
+Liek comment and subscribe true, if you live in the united states, you better fucking speak english because im not learning another language to speak to foreiegners
Me back in high school in 2011. "I don't need to take this shit. I'm American, I speak American." Teacher: "God Damnit, Matt. You're like the 30th student to say that Onion quote this semester!!"...
Pablo Zinco You kidding? They shit out little turds like this all the time. Internet’s rife with them. They make the common cockroach look like an endangered species.
50% of the comments - actually connected to the video 50% of the comments - people patting themselves on the back while proudly announcing they get this is satire and they are smarter than the (undefined) bunch who will not get it.
@@lelouchvibritannia4028 Idiotic reply. Nobody asked you to say anything either, buddy. If my opinion is irrelevant, yours is _twice_ as irrelevant. Also, it's honestly pretty pathetic that you liked your own comment.
@@simplesimon8255😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 He was born in British America and was subject of King George. He also fought with the British during the French and Indian War.
•AsylumBraulio • If you are an American and you say that we are not the most superior race and the best country on earth, then you do not deserve to be a great American.
This is unironically why I refused to take Spanish in high school. I told my parents that I would learn "El taco" when "they get a flag on the moon". I later joined the Army. Big shock.
