We tag along with Kentucky Conservation Officer Jared Ervin as he patrols the waters of Green River Lake! For more information about Kentucky Conservation Officers visit fw.ky.gov/Enfo....
I learned a couple things from this video. Law enforcement for boating has changed quite a bit over the years. How many remember the days of a KSP unit patrolling the water in a boat with a "Darth Vader" light on top? And then there was the boys in blue - the Water Patrol under Environmental Protection & Natural Resources. It was after that when the Water Patrol merged with Fish & Wildlife to create what we have today. Funny story: I knew a guy who had been a Conservation Officer for years. He got sideways with supervision and said "to heck with this. I'm finishing my career with the Water Patrol." He did go to the Water Patrol, and about a year later the merger happened, and he went right back in green, where he started. I guess there's something to be learned from that. ~ I enjoyed this video. ~
Met Jared last week at Campbellsville boat dock while fishing with my son. We think enforcements a pain in the...until I considered Jared's pain of informing a family of a drowning.
The officer definitely seemed completely unreasonable and only out to harrass. Gtfo with this, anyone who spends time on the water knows just how dangerous BUI is to other boaters and the impact poaching plays on a fishery. I would love to meet this man on the lake one day just to thank him for his demeanor and professionalism
