Does anyone ever wonder why we are still listening to Patsy? It's been 57 years since she was taken from us, and she was a star for many years before that. It's because she was a star, her music was music for the ages. Patsy will never grow old, her music will never grow old and fade away. So many of the so called stars today will never be able to say that. Patsy was a one of a kind and once you hear her, she is with you forever after. We are so fortunate that we still have her music, and we always will.
Perfectly said! I'm quite confident she would have had a decades long career with that stunning voice, but she is forever captured in that perfect bubble. Like Marilyn, and so many others taken before their time. The mystique around Patsy will be around forever I suppose.
Patsy is and always will be number one, her songs will live forever her singing voice left an impression, that was her song no one else's, she's in heaven now singing God's praise's.
I am a 67 year old African American woman whose Mama played Patsy Cline every Saturday evening. Grew up loving the soul Patsy had inside. Found a CD of her greatest hits 3 years ago. Play it all of the time, blasting it in my car! Music like hers never fade, never will.
Bless your heart. Im a 65 yr old white woman and i have a love of Africqn American voices with soulful beats, and a derp love for Luther Vandross. But those beautiful southern Baptist voices on Sundays of those church ladies that could sing pike nobodys business. I loved in South Carolina for a while and a whitewashed wooden church stood practically in my back yard. Well let me tell you, i thought that church was gonna fall apart from the clapping and stomping! But i got as close as my yard would allow me to listen to that southern Baptist sound from the most beautiul ladies wit glorious voices and decked out in the most gorgeous outfits with their Sunday hats. See, we can love one another, embrace and share our cultures and traditions. Dont ever let race interfere with you expanding on the diversity that sometimes comes your way people! Dont sweat the border! Im down for Mexican music and Chili Rellenos and a Mariachi band can play for me any ol time! We get one shot at this thing called life. Embrace it, laugh and have a blast! It moves fast and before you know it you're too old to do ANYTHING! Live your lives in harmony!
@@hendrickskeegan1707 Good morning Hendrych. I was born in Alabama, raised in Los Angeles. The country in me came out when I hit 45! One day someone at work noted a southern type draw in my voice that I couldn't hear. Just in my blood, I guess.
@@claudiaanglon5212 Hmm that's good to know. I'm a Polish/American, Mum from Lublin Poland while my dad an American. I was born here in the States but was raised in Poland by my Aunt who is married to an East Indian and I do speak English Fluently though I have an accent not so sure if you really like it but most people do. So don't know if you mind accent..
I'm almost 84 years old and I have adored Patsy Cline since I was teen. She is the greatest female singer ever born and we are so lucky to have her music.
@@MarcosBryant-lj8zi. I agree, I am 70 yrs old and a 2 time widow and I grieved to SWEET DREAMS now twice….. it is that sad, haunting, powerful voice that came from God, etc etc etc….only the best sounds can help you grieve and she did it…she is my all time favorite female singer ever…👍❤️❤️❤️🙏
I have never considered Patsy a country singer. That's just a category she was put in. When she sang in nightclubs she sang pop and loved all kinds of music. She even introduced Loretta Lynn to Etta James etc.
The real eerie thing was I.dont know how she knew.but 3 or four times she said. Don't worry I won't be here long. 2 weeks after she said this .she died very violently in a plane crash .but the exact site where she died was set up as a memoriam whst a nice thing to do
This is NOT an easy song to sing, and esp the way Patsy sung it, but she made it appear so e a s y and smooth. This movie was great, and Jessica did a great job of portraying Patsy!
Jessica did a fantastic job with the crappy material she had to work with. I'm so glad she did lip syncing in the movie. She has said that was her favorite role and I believe she was pregnant while filming it
Everytime Patsy comes on radio, it’s unmistakable who is singing. And the thrill is always fresh to hear her song, Crazy, walkin after midnight, sweet dreams! Love em all
Emotion, yes. It seems to me that she was so skilled at singing that it was almost like talking, with all the prosodic subtleties of speech, but in song instead. Rhythm, inflection, timing, intonation... Not just producing melodies, but also telling the listener something for us to pick up "between the lines" as we do in intent conversation.
There will never be a sweeter voice then Patsy Cline. Gone too soon but will never be forgotten. I am sure Loretta and Patsy will be reunited and both be singing together with God's choir of angels.
I love the movie "Sweet Dreams" the Patsy Cline story. She went through so much in her short life. I'm so grateful that she left us her music to remember her by. Rest in peace dear Patsy. One of your biggest fans.
@@williamturner1517 It's called "lip synching", not "mouthing", which generally implies talking disrespectfully or talking too much. By that quirky little criterion of yours, no one should ever play a gifted vocalist in a biopic, since no one but Patsy herself could ever sound like Patsy Cline. The film makers were right to decide to use Patsy's own voice. Nothing else would have worked nearly as well. Also, you are confused regarding awards.Oscars are awarded to actors or actresses for their ability to convincingly play *someone else*. Grammys are awarded to vocalists singing as themselves. Comparing the two types of performing is like apples and oranges. Educate your pompous self before opining.
PRR5406. I know that right . sent shivers from your back up to your heart .Patsy how we miss you. Why can't I forget the pass? R.I.P Patsy your spirit never die .You with us in spirit .
My Mom looked like her too. My Mom was from Arkansas and she would listen to her every Sunday while she worked around our house. I remember the plane accident and we all mourned for weeks including my Mom who would cry for years every time she heard anything Patsy would sing.
Every time I hear I go out walkin' after midnight,it fills my heart up with tears.Whenever I was sad,I'd go literally walking and thinking of what that song meant in so many ways on my darkest of nights...She was a Queen of Song!
Patsy will always be in my heart. Her music thrills me every time I hear it and it never gets old, no matter how many times I hear it.Jessica Lange did a bang up performance in this movie.
A precious memory reminder of my mum who used to sing along with patsy while doing house chores, I can almost hear when I listen to these amazing songs such talent. R.i.p mum, rip patsy. X
I was 12 yrs old when I saw Patsy in person. At the Brooklyn, Paramont Movie & stage house, in Brooklyn, New York. I new is was Love when I heard that voice ring out. Patsy was a Star & will always shine on. Patsy will never be replaced ever. Her voice was Gold.
How very fortunate you were! I was singing her songs with proper voice and expression long before age 12. Would have loved to have seen and heard her live.
I think she did a great job playing Patsy. She didn't do her own vocals but in Coal Miners Daughter Beverly D'angelo did her own singing for playing Patsy and Sissy Spacek did her own singing playing Loretta Lynn. Both did amazing jobs.
rose ison back in the late 50s and 60's the am radio stations played this music until they became country and western and had their own stations so we got schooled on don Gibson Willie Nelson etc and loved this brand of music and was aware of her death and being exposed to yet another form of music to go Motown folk rock Doo wop etc Patsy was one of one
@rose ison Chills, I still get chills. I’m able to close my eyes and my 80 y/o mothers is 30 again. And dancing in my fathers arms, in our living room of our little bungalow. They are in love, Kennedy is in the WH, & Santa still comes in December. Life was good, & I still love her music. Classics stay classics & we will never have another PC. RIP, dear woman.
Hello Kentucky Woman, how're you doing, I hope you are doing fine. I'm Hendrych from Houston, Texas. Where are you from? Seems like a real Country girl 😊
Very Hauntingly Beautiful Song.Patsy Cline Was a Beautiful Woman With a Hauntingly Beautiful Voice Who Died Tragically Young.Sorry Faith;Shania;Taylor and All The Rest of You Prdtty Country Pop Princesses But None of You Can Hold a Candle to Patsy;Loretta and Tammy!!
+kingbushwickthe33rd I still find it hard to believe this song never went to #1. It got as high as #5 on the country charts and #44 on the Billboard Hot 100. The lady had so much more to give, she was really just getting started. The first lady to join The Grand Old Opry. She asked to join and they said yes. It had never happened before and still has not been done since. Only 2 #1 songs at the time of her passing, "I fall to pieces" and 'She's got you" The country lost a true national treasure. My 52 year old heart still weeps.
How can you put into words a voice that every time you hear it gives you the chills I will love her forever we are so lucky to have gotten to enjoy her God bless you Patsy
From the first note, the strings just carry me away.. then her voice takes you to places that no one else can! My Favorite Patsy Cline song. Hands down!
This number from the movie was memorizing . The orchestra , her flawless tone, Carnegie Hall , and that white dress really made you realize what kind of a star Patsy really was . Patsy was one of the greatest female singers of our time , and arguably probably the greatest country singer that ever lived . The joy she has brought to my life and so many other millions is truly immeasurable . Thanks Patsy ! Your determination to record so much from 1960 to 1963 has brought a terrific musical legacy for all of future generations to enjoy . You simply were the greatest and we owe you so much for sharing your one in a million voice with all of us .❤️
I grew up listening to Patsy Cline! My mother loved country music and always played on the radio. Patsy Cline is/ was one of my favorite country singers. Many don’t know her songs were often sung by pageant contestants!!

@@BernitaFaust Hey! That’s very good to know, I just can’t stop myself from listening to this song anytime am alone! If I may ask which of all her songs is your favorite? Have a great day… Stay Safe
+Joe Dellarocco This song was released right after her death. This is real talent not just the hype and histrionics you see today. Nora Jones is the real thing though. Try "I'll be you baby tonight" (Dylan song sung by Nora Jones) it's on youtube
+Joe Dellarocco Not in any genre. Country was good for her to start because pop just didn't give a good singer any room, what with all the guitars and noise. She'd have been a great jazz singer. But the fact is, she had a great voice, no matter what she sang. She was at the top.
Her voice transcended a genre, which is why her producers 'crossed' her over to a wider audience. It would have been criminal to leave her in a single class of music. She was one of the great voices of our time. She still tears at my heartstrings like so few can. What a loss it was for her to meet such a horrible and early demise. Music needed her.
Jessica lanae man shes a amazing actress and she really brought patsy's life and love to the screen in a tremendously huge way. I love me some Jessica she always plays intense roles and she brings it too.Bravo amazing!!!
I absolutely positively LOVE this song and Patsy Cline's voice in singing it. This, by far, is my fav song of hers and is on my all time list. Unbelievable vibrato back n forth between her and the violinists. Gives me chills every single time I hear it.

Most beautifully filmed sequence in the whole film, so stunning that it hurts. I remember seeing this in the theater when it came out and this scene blazed over the big screen was breathtaking. Jessica Lange did a marvelous job of capturing Patsy and as others have commented, they smartly used Patsy's original recordings as Cline's voice has never been matched and probably never will. (The recently produced "Judy" did not make such a wise decision and Renee's voice distracted, sadly.) What made this sequence even more dramatic was that it led up to the sequence that involved the plane crash that took Cline's life. Such talent, such loss.

A voice that God sent. Sweet dreams is on my list as one of my 2 favorite songs in my whole life and I'm 83 and have heard a thousand or more. It actually gives me goose bumps listening to that beautiful song. The lyrics. The melody and the beautiful voice that sang it. Rest in peace beautiful patsy cline
I'm 72 and have been listening to Patsy since1960 or so. I love her. However I don't just live in the past. There are dozens of equally talented singers that I've heard and loved and I find more every year. No one singer is untouchable or the 'best', there are 'favorites' - personal bests - for everyone. Spread your musical wings and ears.

Wonder what she would sound like today unfortunately they don't play the older country stars now, love this song and patsy cline reba sings a great version of this song acapella awesome echoed through the grandstand at indiana state fair
Pasty was phenomenal! Best female country singer EVER. Jessica was smokin' HOT in her prime...a truly beautiful woman and a good actress. Loved her in everything I've ever seen her in. Pasty left us entirely too soon...without giving us all the great things she undoubtedly would have otherwise. Love you, Patsy Cline! Love you, Jessica Lange!
We are listening to Patsy Cline today being the 3rd of February 2022 because she's the queen of country, no one can ever come close to her and no one ever will💖

Patsy Cline is still today after many years of loving music my all forever favorite female singer & my all time favorite song "Sweet Dreams".She was & is still consider a top notch songstress recognized by many many people from all over the world of country music. She's one lady to never be forgotten in my book. sincerely with Love, julio c. henriques/artist since 1961
Jessica Lange is a true American Treasure. She is one of the greatest American Actresses of all time. She is magnificent in every role she does. Amazing Lady.Amazing Actress.
❤❤ the actress Jessica Lane play the part of Patsy Cline perfectly and the song itself is so beautiful so heartfelt she was really in love and to be hurt by someone that you truly love takes time to get over😢 but you will get over it and you will come back stronger and happier than you were before a lesson learned for all of us❤❤
I saw the movie last night for the 1st time. Patsy Cline was one of a kind and Jessica Lange is a terrific actress. So here I am on RU-vid listening again to the songs of Patsy.
Patsy Cline and Karen Carpenter were the two most beautiful, heavenly voices ever recorded. I just can't listen to Sweet Dreams without shedding a few tears. Her voice sends me emotionally over the top!!
2024….Patsy still remembered! Looking at her picture on my fireplace now! Bought it in Nashville signed by her daughter Julie Fudge! I have her portrait framed! My daughter and I took a trip to Nashville just to go to her museum. Cherish those memories!
God had blessed Patsy's talents, sadly, only she had been ended short time. But God had never failed her to let her opened her eyes and to heal her wounded heart to face the cruel world and she was able to dealing with the human natures. Though she went somewhere else for God's assignment, but her music was still here in this earth.
I;m a 'geezer', as old as sand, I'ver heard most all the female singers in my day,, but I can't get over Patsy, ,,she was special,, her clarity, her phasing, and her timing were on the mark,, R I P girl,,
We wrote songs from Pasty Cline for a long time, It’s too bad we lost her at a Young age, she’s a beautiful and talented woman and never be forgotten. We’ll miss you, Pasty, God bless.
When I was a little girl, my mom used to blast Patsy Cline on our record player whenever we had it to ourselves and we would try to sing like her and dance around the living room with our pretend microphone stands it was so much fun and I always loved her songs ❤ ughh... I miss those days so much but it's okay because whenever I listen to Patsy I'm right back in that living room singing my heart out and whenever I get together with my mom at her bar, especially on karaoke night, we alway sing a song or two! Rest in peace dear Patsy Cline, thank you for those beautiful memories that I get to keep, etched in vinal, forever ❤ Love ya mom xo
Yes may I please put my comment in I am a child of the 1960s I grew up loving Jim Reeves, Johnny Cash, Hank Snow and ofcourse Patsy My own personal heartache at 18 made me love her all the more

Patsy Cline was an ANGEL sent too us to remind us with her VOICE how fortunate we are as CHILDREN of GOD to be blessed with such talent. Many a singer has tried to imitate her vocals but can not
I was never really exposed to country music growing up. I was well into my 30s the first time I heard Patsy on my car radio. I actually pulled the car over feeling this was just as you said the best female vocalist I had ever heard. And to think it's all her, no electronics, no filtering, in today's world quite unbelievable.
Tell everyone a little secret about the African American Community. Most of us won´t admit it out in the open, but quite a few of us are closeted Patsy Cline Fans. Pull us off to the side and ask us, and most of us will tell you that we think she´s one of the greatest singers to have ever existed. We however can´t let that out too the public too much. LOL
