HER VOICE! I heard this song 1 time and fell in LOVE with it! I fell for who the singer was. What I would do to jump on a time machine and watch her live. Her career was too short but her songs will last a lifetime. RIP Patsy Cline... much LOVE!
Patsy Cline takes hold of a song and makes it her own. She then reels the listener in for a lifetime. Fifty years after her death, the woman and her voice still moves me.
She is one of those talented artists, that achieved, fame and fortune, in such a short amount of time, and went out of this world, like a rocket. What a voice.
There is a more upbeat version of this song that my father had on a 45 record that had been converted to a CD that he had played for me before he had passed away in 2008. Unfortunately, when my family had dispersed his things they unknowingly gave away that CD. I have been searching for a version of the song on RU-vid and have not found it. My Dad had told me it had been recorded when Patsy Cline had been really young [18 I think]. I agree with Patsy in that I like her more upbeat songs. I feel her personality comes out more in her upbeat songs. Thank you.
I heard this song every night in the "castle", the snack bar for the new dorms at UVa in 1952, and it became part of me. It's so great to hear it at home 68 years later.
A very, very fine version of this wonderful song. Of course, nothing can beat the Jo Stafford original, but this is a very respectable effort, helped by Patsy's ability to make a happy song sound sad, which is something only the truly great popular singers can do.
Sorry but Patsy Cline's version is good. But not quite as good as Jo Staffords By the way Patsy was a big fan of Jo Stafford , Also the Dupree's Had a big hit with this song in 1962.
Wonderful! This song's emotional effect owes much to its unusually beautiful chord progression. Well done the composers - Pee Wee King, Chilton Price and especially Henry Ellis 'Redd' Stewart.
I know that many will not agree with my view. I like Jo Stafford's original version of the song but for me Patsy has the edge. I could listen to her version over and over again (I have just listened twice) and not tire of it.
La mejor cantante en inglés de todos los tiempos, tan pero tan buena, que hasta tiene un fan en Costa Rica Yo. La amo, la admiro, me rompe el corazón donde quiera que estés Patsy qué grande eres y serás por siempre....
No comparison Jo Stafford Version It's by far The best. Patsy was a big fan of Jo Stafford No comparison Patsy was good but did not have the perfect pitch that Joe Stafford had. Phil D.
They say one good thing about Music - When it hits you - You feel no pain and sometimes. Its not the song that makes you emotional, it’s the people and things that come to your mind when you hear it! I can say the same about photos - old or new??
I saw a show today in Georgetown, Texas today with Yesinia McNett who protrays Patsy Cline and it was beautiful...took my mom and grandma. I am 38 but I have always loved Patsy Cline since I was little thank to them
I was 13 a Navy dependent at Parks AFB Calif Komandorski village ( a former ww2 enemy internment camp) Just outside main gate at Parks, it was redone for military dependents after ww2, anyone remember the time and place I went to jr high at amadore valley in Pleasanton calif.
Arranged & produced by Owen Bradley ----------------The Jordanaires backing her-------& Patsy made what was originally a C & W song, her very own. written by Chilton Price / Pee Wee King, 1st recorded by Sue Thompson ------------then, Patti Page ------& then, with a big-band arrangement, by Paul Weston, Jo Stafford did it. all 3 in '52. ---------------The question of who's is better, is irrelevant . If you like one, it's fine. I love this & Jo Stafford's version, but that's just me. -----------------------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
