I wish more people would subscribe to your channel. Having a masters in Biochemistry, I hate hearing people say “If you can’t pronounce it, it’s bad for you”. Well done sis!👩🏽🔬
I always try to share your videos with my subscribers, they are so rich in value and it’s great that your videos are actually informative and never centered on negativity or trashing brands. I highly value this channel! 😊❤️👍🏽
ohhhh let me add my 1 cent... cause i dont use anything but what i make myself, but i love this review! i love how you break everything down so people can understand each ingredient with ease, there are so many bloggers out here that speak so badly about certain ingredients, and i appreciate the fact that you break everything down so we can understand easily and not get caught up in the drama of to use or not to use chemicals. even when i myself tried to stay away from certain things i noticed my hair went through a terrible phase from lack of, until i met you, when i say your advice and these videos saved my hair ... I MEAN IT
Great information. I would love to see a review on Shea Moisture's Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Leave-In Conditioner and Kinky Curly's Knot Today
Girl!!! You are what the internet needed!!! A bunch of influencers that have no knowledge recommending products, and here you are!!! Yay chemistry lover over here!!! :D
I am an aspiring cosmetic chemist and I learn SO MUCH from your videos. I purchased your ingredients guide and I just started a small lipgloss line. I wish you made longer videos so I can binge and learn so much more about the industry and your journey!
I put my money where my mouth is and just bought the book, currently at page 12. Every girl, who is serious about their hair MUST buy your book. The format is a great mix of nerdy and spicy! Easy to read, lots of oohhhs and aaahhs! I love it! The book really solves a major problem!
Hey Ms. Chemist (smile)👩🏫🧐 it feels good to hear someone, who not only gives their opinion about hair & hair products, but also backs it up with science. I appreciate your review on the product. Hey can you do a video on hair bond builders? I have a relaxer & I bought the Matrix bb system it's a lot cheaper than Olaplex. I would like to know even though several people are happy with Olaplex but is other bb just as good or not. Thank you so much.
Yes, a great review, coming at it from a chemist’s and a consumer’s perspective, both. I will be buying this. You get an A every single time, too! Thank you!
I love this idea! I've shared your video with my natural hair fam. I would love for you to do this with some of the lower cost products that have very good ingredients
Yaass girl, coming through with the knowledge! I love this content. Please give us more. Could you add reviews on a complete, like shampoo, conditioner, leave in and creams. My suggestions are, Miche beauty, She scent it, Soultanicals, Camille rose, Tgin, adora beauty. Just to name a few lol. Thanks girlfriend
I tried the shampoo and heavy conditioner. I was very impressed!. The shampoo did not make my hair dry after washing it out. The conditioner made my hair very soft and was a good moisturizer. I'm looking forward to getting the leave in conditioner as well as the hair mask😁
You helped my hair so much. I skipped all the products because of what I was taught all my life. Obviously chemistry wasn’t required for my degree lol. Thank you so much. You saved my head! I’ll keep watching and learning! I am loving the science based information 💕
Yes, Yes, Yes, I love patterns hair mousse. It is the best for shine, definition, while adding softness to my hair. My hair actually looks healthy after just using the mousse. I plan on getting some more of her products and hopefully they work as well as her mousse. Customer for life!!!!
Thank you for this content. Found it to be informative and because of RU-vid influencers I would never have thought to purchase this product. You put a whole different spin on the quality of the product. Thanks for explaining and clarifying the ingredients.
Could you pleaseeee do a product review on the Olaplex line? As a cosmetologist I’m interest in your insight given that their ingredients are proprietary. Thanks lady :)
I ❤️ this product along with the other products in her line. Could you please explain the ingredients in her shampoo I hear ppl talk about what they believe it to be but they don’t know diddly. You though will break it down. So glad u rated the leave in and explained it to us cause I really like it and not saying everything works for everyone but some of these you tubers with their video’s on the line talking about if the products are meant for this hair type etc..... is so exhausting cause I’m like if you don’t like it cool but who saids you are an authority? You don’t work with ingredients 😳 and no nothing about their purpose. Your opinion though umeans a lot because you work with ingredients and have knowledge and you are not just a youtuber going off of hear say and an opinion. Luv your video’s . Keep giving us knowledge.
with anything its a preference, the drama of whats good and bad for hair/skin/body is becoming so overwhelming for many. i say continue with what you respond best to and dont worry about the hype. im a friend of certain sulfates and silicones, they give what we dont naturally create ourselves.
Thank you for such helpful content. You're a great presenter and teacher 👌🏾 I'm loving this style of review as I'm super interested in what ingredients I put on my hair and skin...it is the largest organ of our body after all. Looking forward to more reviews especially as you're Lo Po like myself ✊🏾 I'll be watching and listening keenly 🤓
I wish I had seen your videos almost 4 years ago to get good advice on products. I need to purchase your book. Can you tell me if cheap gels such as wet line and eco are really that bad for natural hair?
Yes please keep more videos coming like this! Can you do one on the new rice water clay mask by Mielle. I want to know based off of the ingredients is it really a clay mask?! Yes it has clay in it but it seems to be far down on the list of ingredients. Thank you in advance! Great video btw!!
Hi, I love your videos. You're my new hair guru and I appreciate your knowledge and knowing about what you're saying, could you do more hair products reviews pleaseeeeeeeee. Love you 😚😚😚
Good question, in this case it's really going to be based on the amount the ingredients are in the formula. For example, for fine hair, I wouldn't recommend heavy butters like shea or cocoa in the first 3 ingredients, maybe somewhere else down the list where it's in there at a smaller amount. There's so much more I can say, I'm going to have to make a video on it lol. But for now, it's really about ingredient placement and avoiding products that are going to weigh your hair down.
Would love to see more product reviews, especially your opinion on some of the TPH hair products. I am the opposite of you and have medium/high porosity hair.
Hi Tonya- I bought your book and loved it! I wish this would have been around when I first started my journey 10 years ago. It definitely would have saved me from spending money on products that didn't work.😲 Now I am going to check the products I have around here.😂 Great video👍
I absolutely love and enjoy your videos. Could you please do more chemist reviews for the other products of this line. I am trying the patteren strong hold gel. Could you do a review of that and the difference between the leave I'm contioner and her regular conditioner
Would the Butylene Glycol (humectant) being in the first 5 ingredients cause dryness in the hair? Glycerin in the first 5 ingredients results in dry hair for me and I live in a very dry climate. I have low porosity, fine dense hair and struggle with leave in, stylers and gels. Coconut oil and She's Butter give me the same results. The majority of products have mostly the same ingredients I have mentioned. Reviews if any on leave in or stylers without would be nice. Thsnks
Amazing! Please do one for the Oyin leave in juices/sprays. I am so confused by the preservation system. My understanding is that botanicals are almost impossible to preserve, if they aren't extracts... So I don't fully understand the ingredients list for the Oyin juices, that seem to defy that and don't seem to contain any obvious preservatives... They are absolutely amazing for my 4c+ hair, especially sprayed on before a steamy shower and then sealed with an oil after. My hair loves this! But I am entirely perplexed by the preservation system. Thank you!
Can you do reviews on inexpensive products that are easily obtained on the ground like Cantu? I know it's an old product but it's affordable for most. Also, maybe a series on combos. Why does Cantu's products not work together and cause such flaking? In fact what ingredients together cause the flaking???
A couple of their products are designed to work together, like the coconut cream with the define and shine custard, so that they don't flake up. I hear you on that though....I hated Cantu for so long bc their own products often "fight" when you put it on your hair.
Hi! Can you do a review on - wetline gel and eco styler gel - Innersense Haircare Line - Photogenic Hair Gel/ Creme - Aussie Moisture 5 min conditioner I will stop there so others may provide but I got more lol
What I've noticed is that people who try something 'different' for their hair, are jumping from an 'almost' natural (ex. Lots of oils, no sulfates, etc.) to more science based products that the hair reacts negatively to these products. The hair has to be clarified with a clarifying shampoo then proceed to using new products. There is a lot of build up from these other products that the hair is asking ,"what is going on!?" I hope this makes sense.
Can you please do a video on humectants? I live in the Northeast, which has humid springs and summers (and sometimes falls and winters as well). There are only certain times in the year when I can get away with using a product that has humectants-especially glycerin-in my hair. In the summer it is especially bad- I get frizzy, dried out hair. Please help me understand, because everyone raves about glycerin and humectants and I find myself avoiding products that have them.
Great video! I have low porosity hair and right now I’m pregnant. Is there anything I can do to avoid lots of post partum hair shedding? I hear some woman can have hair loss while others don’t. I’m hoping I’m one of those women who don’t. Is there anything I can do to avoid this issue or am I doomed lol 😳😂?
Can you please review kinky curly knot today leave-in? That's the one I've been currently using for about a year now and would love to hear your thoughts on it. Btw, I love this series! ☺️💖
I had a reaction to this product. I'm not sure what I reacted to. My hair got immediately softer, and shinier but over time my scalp got sore and sensitive and the skin on my face broke out. Not sure what could be this cause.
I just purchased a conditioner from Etsy and the preservative they use is OPTIPHEN... should I be worried? I want to use it on my 3 year olds hair also.... help please!!!
It depends on absorption, sometimes "nutrients" don't absorb well into the body to do any good work, I would focus on the reviews from others if you're looking into a supplement. :-)
Hi Ms. Curl Chemist, I used a different leave in conditioner in my daughter's hair, the Camile Rose Honey leave in. Her hair was really soft but it felt very mushy. I did a braid out and there was no definition, and although her hair was dry, it had a weird wet feel to it. Could you possibly explain what that mushy feel means?
Hey! Your daughter may have moisture overload especially if her hair feels mushy when wet. I would focus on gentle strengthening conditioners to help restore the protein in her hair. Coconut oil pre-poos for an hour, rinse, shampoo, DC with protein treatment, rinse, leave in, seal with oil (avocado or sunflower), then style. Overall it sounds like she needs protein.
Hi was referred to you by Linwood of Glam Fam, I asked him the questions below, and I was wondering if you could help me. I recently found out that I have an allergy to Cocamidopropyl Betaine and it's in almost every product. I was using the Giovanni 2 chic shampoo and conditioner and I LOVED IT. Well now Iam unable to use it anymore. Do you know of any equivalent to that product that doesn't have any Cocamidopropyl ingredients, that would work the same? Also and hair semi permanent gold base light brown/dark golden blond that doesn't contain that chemical and will cover grey?
