+highvelocity123 Sometimes, I use 1 cm seam allowance and other times 1/2" of an inch...both seam allowances are OK.

It sometimes happen when the hook point of the shuttle catches the thread loop formed in the needle eye too slow. When the timing is slow it makes tighten the upper tension harder than normal. Even so, it is a little difficult to balance the bobbin tension by loosening the little adjusting bolt. The solution would be to move forward a very little the hook point. It could work out but it is not correct.

@@Cechaflo I have moved the needle bar as you suggested ( I think ) but really don’t want to try unless it’s in the right position or very close to it. A 110=18 needle size would be Ok A 120=20 size is slightly thicker and it also works out good. These thin needles are for thin threads. Standard upholstery thread #92 would be useful for the blind/closing sewing and for the topstitching. But if you want to topstitch with a thicker thread, let's say the standard 138 size you would need a 130=21 as a minimum to not pierce too big holes in the vinyl material. @@seanburke1999 A wedge point needle would be useful for vinyl and leather. ..."The leather needle has a wedge shaped point which gives it the piercing strength it needs to penetrate heavy fabrics like leather and vinyl. La primera 'pata/pié' es para hacer costuras planas; la segunda 'pata' que se muestra es acanalada y nos ayuda mucho a coser el 'vivo' o cordoncito plastico de refuerzo para un tapizado. +betty cuadras Si es importante poner la manta en la parte posterior para que los 'acolchonados' no se deformen y queden contenidos en las partes que se cosieron...para hacer un 'acolchonado' se requieren 'tres capas' : la 'capa superior' puede ser de tela, vinil o piel; la 'capa del centro' corresponde al material de relleno y puede ser el 'hule espuma/esponja', lana, etc.; la 'capa inferior' es la de refuerzo y puede ser de manta, o alguna tela resistente delgada, ésta ayuda a formar los 'acolchonados'.

If you're referring to the 'piping vinyl strip' it's just a ribbon cut of same vinyl material. A 'plastic pipe or cord' is wrapped around to give shape. It was the piece you laid flat to reinforce the back of the fell seam I was wondering about? Thanks for responding. I watched the video anyway, and realised I should have been cutting into the piping edges to ease the corners when I recovered my sofa, it would have made life easier. I'll know next time.....

Si usamos el sistema inglés como medida estandar usamos 'la 1/2" pulgada(1.25 cm aprox.) Si usamos el sistema métrico decimal usamos 1 cm Ambas medidas pueden usarse para 'las tolerancias de costura' en tapicería. Yo me acostumbro mas con la tolerancia de 1 cm.

Ya tenía contemplado publicar un video básico relacionado a las alfombras ...vamos a preparar una maqueta para mostrar como se hacen los cortes de la alfombra. Sólo te podría adelantar alguna información...los carros de fábrica llevan alfombra que fue moldeada con calor en una prensa que lleva las matrices 'macho y hembra'...esta alfombra lleva en el revés una cubierta plástica que con el calor se ablanda y toma la forma del molde. La alfombra que los tapiceros usamos (1.80 mt ancho) para retapizar, se trabaja en forma diferente, esta no se estira y si le aplicas calor para darle formas, la puedes quemar... ¿Entonces que hacen los tapiceros para trabajar éste material? ...simplemente hacer cortes necesarios para dar la forma del piso. Si maestro gracias, bueno hoy fui a querer comprarme una pfaff 1246 como la que tiene usted y me dijeron circular o recta, le dije pa tapiceria, recta me dijeron, pero esas makinas k pregunte son adaptadas, la makina de usted es recta, para ir a comprar ya con seguridad.

+Alvaro Omar Oblitas Canchari Hola Alvaro, La máquina industrialque yo tengo es la pfaff 1245-706-47, triple arrastre, mesa plana, de una sola aguja, puntada máxima de 6 mm (por cierto es una versión antigua, original alemana que lleva una plaquita de metal con la marca y número de serie en la parte de atrás lado derecho)...las que son imitación sólamente le pegan un 'sticker de plástico'. La máquina que tu mencionas, me parece que da mas puntada, algo asi de 9 mm...pero me parece que no es original, fíjate en la parte de atrás a la altura de la palanca que regula las puntadas y reversa...si no trae la placa de metal va a ser de imitación de la China...su precio nueva está en 2000 USA dollar aprox....una original alemana cuesta más. Con las máquinas que llevan 'pata de rueda' también se puede tapizar...se usa más en la zapateria... lo ideal para tapiceria de carros y muebles es la de 'patas planas' triple arrastre. La que te ofrecen si son las chinas, salen buenas...si es usada, paga a lo mucho la mitad del precio. Otras marcas conocidas para trabajo pesado son la Consew 226, Juki LU563, Durkop&Adler 767, 867.
