I ordered the Long Range late last night for my 870. I can shoot 3” max from my gun. I use mine on crows as well so I think this choke will be excellent.
I like your filming of the patterns on the water. You show a side shot of the one you don't like, and a from behind view of the Patternmaster. Don't know how you think anyone that would know better could make an accurate comparison. I know I couldn't. Doesn't look very impartial.
It does not shorten the shotstring. Also, the video of factory vs patternmaster choke is labeled opposite. Every wad shot through a patternmaster choke tube opens faster which is not the case in the video. The longer a wad stays with the shot, the shorter the string will be. This is opposite of patternmaster. Watch one of the you tube videos of “Surviving Duck Season”. It is shown in slow motion, all the way to the target. Also, part of this video shows a shot on water when explaining a shot string. This isn’t a shot string effect on surface water. Idk what tests patternmaster used to come up with the idea that they have a shorter shot string(probably none) but obviously, it was a marketing ploy. Just watch the you tube video that i suggested earlier. Hellooooo patternmaster. You need to watch it too.
I have been using a pattern master for several years, still have it on my gun. I have been second guessing this theory of shorter shot string since I have been having a he'll of a time figuring out the lead on birds I am shooting when they're flying 30 to 60 mph. I think I would be better of with the longest shot string for pheasant hunting because one good size bb should put them down.
