This sounds silly and childish. Her weight didn’t hold her back in the industry. People’s tastes in music did. Labels put money into what sells. As well written, produced, and performed as this song was, it was on an album that didn’t perform as well as this single. What succeeds get duplicated and promoted. What doesn’t gets moved aside. Patti has some excellent songs but the albums were somewhat uneven in performance.
This video is great because Patti has her late parents in it, her friend & powerhouse vocalist Joceyn Brown who did backgrounds with others on this song, David Pack, co-composer, with Jeff Pescetto & a fine vocalist, producer also. & the joy that seems to be a whole lot of what Patti's life is about ...: )
I remember once that she said the picture of her parents in the video was either a wedding or engagement photo. Her mother's expression is so funny. It's like, "Ok, here we go on this adventure. You better not mess thus up!" ;)
I have fond memories of my morning drive from my apartment in River North to the North Shore. Sunroof open, driving up Lake Shore Drive taking in the cool morning and Lake Michigan to my right. Life was good and Chicagoland was the center of my world.
I can't take it this has to be the best I've ever heard! kudos to the person who wrote this! I'm a Man's Man but I gotta admit I cry every time I hear this
+Peggy Stoute Morin What's that line from the "Ted" movie, re; Morgan Freeman "I'd like to curl up and go to sleep in a bed made up of your voice " ha ha how I always felt for Patti...lol...
I came to like this beautiful classic during the Radio metro days,,,not the now metro fm...1991 was the year at the Sebokeng college of education with my first love being her favorite song...
Great song from a wonderful singer and person. For those interested, David Pack the keyboard player in the video has produced many other singers with equal results. Also Omar Hakim the drummer is one of the best.
I remember playing this song with my headphones on…Closing my eyes and just memorizing that it was just me and her in the room and she was just singing to me such a beautiful voice
Omg this song does it for me... I'm considered to be A Man's Man but tears run down my face every time I hear this song!I mean this is just the kind of song that touches my heart tremendously, you can tell that Patti put her all into this one Omg an all-time hit no doubt... Just like the title this song gets better and better "Through The Test of Time"!
Still loving her, her voice, her persona. Listened to her soothing voice in the 80's up until now. Much respect miss Patti Austin from the Philippines, we love you immensely. Thank you for your music
I love Patti Austin...she has recorded some wonderful music over the years and I am proud to say that I own all of her CDs...she is so talented and yet so underrated...whenever she releases new music ..I immediately just buy it without a listen because I just know its going to be awesome

This song makes me think about my angel who is my grandmother who passed away the same time this song came out my life took a tragic turn but God is the greatest
She sings what must be abundant in her soul-joy! What a lovely song and well put together video; I love all the smiles, and cheerfulness amongst friends and family. It is reminiscent of good times and music from the good, ole days!
Carla Linton. Another one of my favorite songs by Patti Austin is called. Through The Test Of Time. This is one of my favorite Old School Slow Jams back in the day.
This song fills lots of emotions in me as I know as this decade, music never will be like this. So heart warming and tune nostalgic. Glad YT is here to go back to the 90's music instead of listening on the radio of today's rubbish.
The crazy thing about this is Patti Austin was never considered a "superstar'" performer, but name one female vocalist today with a better, fuller singing voice. Flawless and beautiful.
