we Looooooovvve you Patti Drew.... the song was twice to hit that is tell him in Philly in 68 and 67 I believe.... in Philly we knew good music especially good soul music.... Hi Litt loved this song, the late Hi lit from wogl originally from wibg... Patty , I pray you Keep On Keepin On, young lady, ! Try and stay healthy do the best you can.. Godspeed.. love you baby.. .
The record originally came out in 1963 by The Drewvels, the group who backed her then. It was a slow mover from West Coast to East Coast. I first heard in on KDKA in Pittsburgh in '63. Next was WBZ in Boston. By the time Hy Lit first played it in Philly on WIBG, it was already a 5 month old record. It was released 1967 with just her, no group backup. It was on Capitol Records with no promotion. They should have known better.
@@jamesdugan640 yeah I knew it was done by her and her group however she did a much better SOLO version of it when the second release came out in 67. It was a Smash Hit all over the country and it came out in 67 and 68 also again...I believe.
I just cry when seeing this performance. I think of my mother when I hear this song. My mother and we had a good relationship. Ms. Patti and her son relationship remind me and my mother.
What a wonderful time! I was just a young girl of eleven, from Brooklyn NY. My family would visit East Orange NJ spending the holidays with relatives back in the sixties. There was a boy in the neighborhood, we enjoyed a sweet friendship, we took long walks, hung out with friends, what beautiful childhood memories!!!!!! Ms. Pattie, many wonderful artist gave us a sound, that served as the backdrop of our lives, leaving us with indelible memories that will last a lifetime!!!!!!!!! Ms. Patti was talented, beautiful, with a lovely soulful voice. A toast to you lady for your gift during a sweet, innocent sound!!!!!
I was living in Kingston,Massachusetts when this song was released; and I would be picking blueberries in a blueberry orchard for a blueberry farmer for 10 cents a basket!
Ms Patty Drew and her son simply amazing and beautiful she has no idea how much this meant to her fans I was just a little girl but I remember these songs and I know them by heart then and now thank you for blessing us with your presence 💕🥰🌹 please come back 🖐️
One thing about Patti she was a beautiful person and one of a kind god bless I really had a great time with her and y son in my recording studio she was so great
I can listen to this song for ever I'm 74yrs young this is what real music is really all about this song was playing on 125th near the Apollo Theater it stop me this song literally up the street everyone was singing ( Tell Him) what a moment and I still play the song today 😐❤👒🎵💐 thank you ( Ms. Patti Drew )..
Patti Drew was so under-rated. I loved her tunes. All of them. Tell Him was always my favorite. The record business is an evil machine. Patti should have had better promotion behind her, but I guess Capitol knew best. (Sarcasm). Thanks for posting this. Randy McDaniels, TLC.
I agree but she was pretty strung out on dope back in the day.. music business is a dog eat dog world ( especially back in the day) and if you're not on the top of your game you going to get used and abused.. especially if u on junk.. that being said she's one of my favorite female vocalists of all time.. loved her voice.. and God bless her
Wow, heard this song now and then and always loved, seeing Patti is great. Wish she hadn’t retired at 27 she had a lot of great songs left in her, great personality, son appears to great guy
Man i miss the old days simply because this is real music y'all , how I wish the beautiful Mary wells was alive 😭😭😭 i will hopefully meet you Patti drew , as well as Brenton wood without over exaggerating it will honestly be a dream come true to see you. Much love to the uploader thank you for this awesome video
I well remember this, song. How wonderful I also recall, There'll come a time by Betty Everett. What a nice stroll down memory lane. How sweet, working, on a groovey thing. Really sweet, gave me a nice feeling of yesterday's music. Smile Everyone.
I WAS ALWAYS SO IN LOVE WITH PATTI...I WAS ALWAYS SORRY TO SEE THAT SHE DISAPPEARED FROM THE MUSIC SCENE FOR SO LONG. SOOOOOOOOO GREAT TO SEE HER SINGING AGAIN...FOR ME IT'S REALLY LIKE RECONNECTING WITH AN OLD FRIEND!!!
after seeing patti drew only on the covers of her albums it was a delight to see her in person/on stage. the audience knows the words to her songs and joins right in. ladies and gentlemen this is the fabulous miss patti drew!! and what a great son she has also!
Patti Drew right along with Etta James will always be my most loving, biggest teenage year memories as a teener bopper! I would sing with a spoon, as my mic, to all her tunes.....my biggest fan was "my beloved Momma" - passed August 2018. Thank you Patti....love you!!!
