Jorge Santana, guitarist & musician who gained fame throughout the world with his band, MALO, since the early 1970’s. He died in May 14, 2020 at a youthful age of 68. He was the younger brother of Carlos Santana. Rest In Peace my brother!🙏🎸🎺🎷
At 71, I got this LP, the week it came out, way back. This has got to be my favorite song, of course, but the whole LP was great. Played it other day as well as watching today. I realize a new post. I think I posted before. It’s too great
This song brings back the most precious memories in my life. Every Sunday my family would go to my grandma's house to spend the day with each other, huge backyard where my cousins and I had a blast playing while our TIa's and Tio's play cards and barbecuing while listening to oldies til it was time to go home. Malo, War, Average White Band, Aaron Neville, Brenda and the Tabulations, Paul Anka and you get the picture. 🎶❤🍻
Suavecito is a floaty sundress on a sparkling summer day, twirling around me as I dance down the hall to my room filled with hopes and dreams. This video is magic! Thank you for posting and making my day. 💫🤩 💖✨
This reminds of my wife who passed in2019 this song was a hit in 1972 when we first started going out 49 years together i miss you bad Jacqueline i luv you always i hope we will meet again i pray k
I like that the live version here sounds very much like the recording. Smooth, wonderful sounds, and those that can play an instrument. Nothing computerized here, nothing added, simply pure sounds. Wonderful days they were.
I wish Malo had more Top-40 hits than just this one, but “Suavecito” is certainly one for the ages. This was a real band making music, way long before computer technology came along in the recording studios.
Agreed. Hate to say, but technology really really has been detrimental to society and music, especially. People had to actually make not only an effort to learning to play an instrument but get their sound out. Phones and social media make it easy to even those who are naturally talented, they just want to make put out a video of them singing on tiktok, instead of joining groups and trying to make it or get their sound out.
This song encapsulates my time growing up in the '70s ....It touches my soul with a ghostly haunt whenever I hear it.....What an Era!!!.....'70S BEST!!!!
Conozco esta canción desde 1972, el año en que se publicó en un LP con una portada bellísima. La he escuchado infinidad de veces y siempre me ha complacido enormemente, no me canso de oirla. Gracias a Jorge, a la banda y quien ha subido este video.
I was in Hot Springs, Arkansas at my cousin house Travis and Kenneth we were listening to music that cold winter day.. They put this record and it was so smooth .Travis was singing the hook. It was type of song that grabbed at your heart strings..My Cousin Travis has been long gone but his memory will live in this song.. LB August 2022
When this song came out in '72 people listen their radios without headphones and I remember being at the beach tuned into the same radio station playing this song so as I walked along you could hear just slightly and all the while I walked it was like one long continuous play on all those tiny radios....It was MAGICAL!!!
This song brings memories of the summers days as I was growing as a teen that loved to dance. I would dance this song to a cha cha . Kept losing my steps when I had to turn or move . Lol those were the days.😊❤❤❤❤❤❤😂
Does anyone recognize a young Raul Rekow on congas? Amazing, the young player that went on to perform with Santana around the world for many years. I think he joined for Moonflower all the way to Corazon: 1976-2015. Great to see him here. Wonderful guy, extraordinary conga player.
Wonderful, beautiful song! Before Gloria Estefan, before Selena......a lot of folks know that Carlos Santana was one of the originators, bringing Latin music into rock. Lesser known is the fact that he did this in collaboration with his brother Jorge. Malo was just so so so good. I really don't know why they weren't a major, major band. Jorge passed in 2020. RIP.
Ol Stop, I agree with you 100% there will never be anyone else that can sing this one song. My Son chose this one song to dance with his wife at their wedding. So I'd say yes to this song over and over cuz I play it in my van with my grandson on board. The best music will never die it just gets finer with time. God Bless You and Keep Listening To The Greatest Music Of All Time. 👍🏻
We love being a part of the Latin Rock world. Jorge Santana became a friend in 2016 when we met at the Latin Music Hall of Fame Awards. We were discussing do a show with Jorge, Tito Puente Jr, and us, Rico Monaco Band. It did not come about but we had a great time working on it for a few months. He was a cool dude and talented musician. Rest In Peace Jorge. We are happy to be continuing our unique fusion of Rock and Latin music. We do our own shows and also do shows with Tito Puente Jr as our guest. We invite any interested bands, musicians or fans to check us out!
The skill this group has...I mean who makes music this amazing anymore? I'm envious of you guys from that generation. Musicians today hardly make anything near as beautiful and without digitized interference. I was born in the wrong decade...
In 1972 I told the guys at work to call me SUAVECITO. Then I got drafted. This song was in my head all of the time during USMC boot camp. I got caught by Nixon's last draft.
I'm " Heart Broken " May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ give you peace and rest Jorge Santana. You and your music shall always be remembered. Thank you
I love this song. ♥️ it’s been a staple in mi familia for a long time. As far as respect? My father actually paved the way with Latin rock in San Francisco with his Latin rock band called The Aliens. Carlos once called my father on stage for a song and he played. Yet Carlos would go watch my fathers band and then came out with his Latin rock. Carlos never played Latin rock until he saw The Aliens.
This song brings me so many memories when I was a kid because my mom used to love so much and for me is the most important song in my life.my mother name was Gloria Margarita Alvarado.
The young conga player is also the famous Raul Rekow who played for Santana for neatly 40 years and played on over 15 of Santana’s albums. He played and recorded with a lot of other famous singers and bands.
Ikr? Much better than the so-called "talent" of today. They played real instruments!!! No one does that nowadays. It's all electronic crap. This is one of the most beautiful songs ever. (Jan Griffiths).
I played in a group in northern NM in the 70's and we played with Malo at an outdoor festival in Rowe, NM. Met Jorge and he invited my guitar player and I to visit them in San Francisco whenever we were there. Prerequisite? Bring a watermelon.
I grow up listening to all The Bands in the 70’’s!!! War, Tower of Power, Chicago, Mandrill, Santana, The Barkays, Rufus, The Blackbyrds, Earth Wind and Fire, Grand Central Station, The Ohio Players Kool and The Gang...if I left someone out help me out!!! 🎼🎤❤️❤️😆
What an Era all smooth easy to swing and follow the notes. Unlike today's mingobaju? Brings me back good and bad memories over all was the best of our times still today sway my feet to this beat. A Real Band.
You got right and all the dance music and not like today. Go to Middle Eastern music and really good. Soft Jazz. Peter White, Boney James, and many, many more.
I have this song on a CD is my 200 CD jukebox I bought back in the 90s. I comes up every once in a while. I heard it on the radio today on the way to work (oldies station). Still sounds great today. RIP Jorge. (Jan Griffiths).
That the song, brings back good, sad memories of my mother and my childhood.was good with family.artsesia ca. To pacoima ca .4-2-2024 grew up with this music.i love to sing.
One of the top ten songs of all time. I've owned it on 45, LP, 8 track, cassette, cd, etc. Never got to see them live to my regret. Was too young. Seems like I was around 5 years old when I saw them on American bandstand (?) and was mesmerized. How this didn't make it to number one I'll never know.
