As an African American it warms my heart more than words can describe when I see the diaspora come together. Cant wait to visit my cuban brother and sisters!
The sad thing is that Cuba is no longer the land of rumba, conga.and cha cha cha, because of the dictators, and with the virus, everything is worse. I am Latinamerican, and this always made me sad. Well there are other Latinamerican countries with the diaspora Dominican Republic, and.I am from Panama.
That would've been nice but Celia left her wigs to her now Ex Manager Omer Pardillo Cid just in case many wanted to use them for exhibits in museums I'll just say Celia left her dresses to Omer her personal photos and many other s were left to her husband Pedro Knight who died on 2007 after that many owners of museums reached out to Omer to see if he wanted to make an exhibit for Celia's life and he said yes
Alecia J Patti really looked like her before she got a nose job. I love Celia Cruz people say I looked like her when she was younger. that's how I found out about her.
As a black and afro Puerto Rican mix, who grew up off of both of these iconic queens, this is absolutely beautiful to watch! I love it, love it, love it!
Celia, Patti & Sheila E. on the drums!!! I wonder why I never saw this! Pure magic with all of them on stage. ( I was in college at the time, a blur and a book worm.) But to have seen this in person would have been so MIND BLOWING & humbling. ALL QUEENS!!! Love this!
You never saw this because they want to keep us separate and keep us think that our culture isn't Aboriginal Spanish African And Caribbean I'm A Creole Spanish French and Sioux And The Disconnect is they want to disconnect the Aboriginal The African and The Spanish so we won't get the whole picture 🖼️ just like this beautiful picture were seeing right now
Alioski Di Cuña Patti is African American and Celia is Afro-Cuban. I think she’s referring to the diaspora. If you got a little black, you’re of African descent.
Tears in my eyes watching these two QUEENS doing what they do best, singing, dancing and entertaining us. All while looking regal in those gowns, heels and wigs. Patti’s legs were killer, still are. My favorite part was when they rubbed chests on each other as if to say they were equally strong and talented. They played off each other beautifully. Wish they had made the movie about Celia’s life with Patti playing the role. She would have been perfect for it. RIP Celia
I love the look that Celia gives Patti at 2:01 "I know you ain't dragging my damn coat across the floor" and then at 3:46, Celia's like "I better step back, she's getting ready to blow"
That night was unforgettable. I know I'll never forget watching it on TV at my grandmother's house. I was heading out the door when they said pattie and Celia on the same stage... i had to sit and tune in a few more minutes to see that performance. It was legendary!
Every time I watch this, I get chills. 2 straight-up divas WORKING it! It is obvious that they were kindred spirits musically and I loved watching them sing each other's style of music...oh and check out Sheila E ... she KNEW this was history-in-the-making. Mis respetos...you have to be on top of your game to sing with either of these ladies and they handled it!
lol, no one ever called me "Bells." I might have to use that one. Where does your name originate from? Mine is a very common Dominican name, so much so that I had 2 friends in Jersey with the same name. Nice to meet you Salkis.
Belkis Martinez Aww wow, well my name is African in origin, not sure of what part though.. I always have been connected to Latin culture and music, Im from Trinidad so the music is very close and food too, I always wanted to marry a puerto rican or cuban or dominican but I was told that they are too aggressive so I got scared… but i love it!
Salkis Re hi Salkis, every country have strict and aggressive men, some abusive as well. I've been abused by 1-Dominican, 1-Puerto Rican, and that was the end of that madness. My husband now is from Barbados, a great man-married 11 years now. I love Trinidadians food, music and culture, it's so close to ours
I discovered Ceila Cruz late in her journey through life and have loved her ever since "La Negra Tiene Tumbao!" She was a treasured powerhouse. This duet with Ms. Patti had my singing and dancing right along with them!! LOL! What a pairing! And Sheila E. on congas was devine!!!
Damned tears on my cheeks. Never understood people who were moved to that at concerts, until now. Haven't felt this damned good and happy in awhile. There's just no way that Music doesn't originate from a sacred place. There's just no way. The Old Peoples, they knew. Damned tears...
Cuando dos titanes de la música no tienen nada que demostrar y aún así demuestran la clase de estrellas que son en un escenario y avientan su poder sobresaliendo de igual manera.
OMG I just love it!!!!! MY ears were bleeding and my feet were still moving long after i first saw this, lol! Love these two ladies, they are music royalty----AZUCAR!!!!
I am so glad that you said this. I love seeing the two of them on stage together. In my opinion, very few people can match Patti when she gets going, but Celia was just as crazy as she was. This pairing up does not disappoint. I loved it, loved it loved it. Awesome! !!!!!!!!!AZUCAR!!!!!!!
First, Patti knew one word and still slayed on that stage! Second, Celia Cruz is amazing! Third, in the full clip, the ovation to their performance lasted longer than the performance! Everyone was feeling it that night! :)
Celia is the queen..., I got to see her at Madison square garden..... And many other places I got to take pictures with her and her husband..... It was a sad time when she passed away..... But I've danced to her music for many years 🥰😘
I first meet Celia via Television while living in the South @ age 8! I was soooo happy to someone who looked like me but hell I was confused because she looked like Patti LaBelle and I thought when did Patti learn spanish 😂😂😂😂 Either way this is beautiful and it a testament to us being "One" as a collective artistically
That's amazing!! I have always thought Celia and Patti favored each other. I'm African American but I have Hispanic aunts so I know some Celia songs and I know who she is. I've read some of the comments and they are comparing the two. You can't compare them. They are both HIGHLY respected singers in their respectable genres of music. Seeing the two of them together was beautiful. Thanks for posting this.
"One of the very first Ladies of Song, Ms. Celia Cruz." - Patti LaBelle Nice to hear such kind words from one Legend to Another. The ladies are on FIRE! And Sheila E. just ROCKED the best out of the great band! The stage could've just burned to ashes. Fantastic performance. =D
Celia está a nivel de todo artista, de todo escenario, de toda cultura, de todo ritmo, una diosa de la música en todos los aspectos y Patti LaBelle sin palabras que bella, se notaba que queria a Celia de corazón.
Celia on Netflix brought me here...I LOVE everything about this and am so happy to be learning her story!!!! This is an epic collaboration of sisterhood and celebration of melanin throughout the diaspora!!!! #LaNegrasTieneTumbao!!!!
Patti, if you don't quit screaming and go to rrhearsals so you cab learn the song!! Hahahaha! But they looked like they were having so much fun up there!
no puedo creer ver a dos grandes majestuosidades de la música en un solo escenario , sin importar el idioma , pero la raza negra se lleva en la sangre y esta presentación da fé de ello.
HAPPY 78th BIRTHDAY BELATEDLY (May 24, 2022) TO OUR WONDERFULLY OUTSTANDING INTERNATIONAL GOD MOTHER OF SOUL MISS PATTI LABELLE!🥰 MUCH LOVE 2 U MAMA P😍!👍
