You know it. I first heard Patty when I was a young man. I loved Patty then and I love her now. I'm 70 and hanging tough. Love each day, love your life and the years turn a blind eye. And don't forget to be thankful and always remember that you are in charge of your own Happiness. If your not Happy only you can fix it. Go Miss Patty.
its not modern singers fault. The🎼 business model: dont allow them to practice as much as older singers. Modern inventions like💿 CDs MP3 make you take the music everywhere. Concerts or live performance are rare DITTO: Doo Wop era singers are way better than 1980's singers for the same reason. repetition of the art Patti Labelle tour year around. Mariah Carey or Bruce Springsteen or Beyonce Justin Bieber etc etc. are not on back to back tours. its not alcohol or drugs but lack of practice AFTER fame. before fame they practice everyday to be signed.
Fantasia really knows how to phrase a lyric. Maaaannnn, she's talking about eggs over easy and shit and making it sound like the most soulful words anyone has ever put on paper?! Can we give a shoutout to the dress too? Tasia out here looking Thicker than a Snickers!
We are absolutely NOT finna gloss over how Fantasia ATE that opening up. The way she slaughtered, destroyed, annihilated and chewed up that “used to greet me”. Please cut the internet off. I’m tired. 😫🙌🏾
i was thinking the same thing. i love her style of singing but when she sings very soft and sweet it’s amazing. if she didn’t start the song that way.. this tribute wouldn’t have hit the way it did!! boddiiiiedd
Saw Pattie in the 90's a few times. She rolls around on the floor kicks off her shoes and just clowns. Fantasia copies her but she can't sing like Pattie.
A stage with Tasia, Yolanda, Jhud and Patti, I respect them for the restraint they showed and for allowing one another to shine. This could have descended into competitive screaming and wailing, but they were just there celebrating one another's gifts, it was beautiful to witness. Fantasia though, what a once in a lifetime voice she has. I hope Jhud interviews her on the show when she starts doing press for the Colour Purple.
She in fact did lose her voice 😂 I watched a recent interview when she talked about it. She was gonna retire and her son told her “no you’re not”. It was deteriorating due to age. She worked it back though !!
Mother Patti is always full of grace. I love her style and miss her and Mr Luther singing together. Those were the great days of singers using their vocals.
Proper technique throughout all her singing life has preserved and kept her voice pristine. Patti once said, "As I get older, my voice should not become weaker, it should become stronger." 👏🏻💙🎵👑
I listened to her live album the other day from 2008, I think and she sounds the same as this performance. But I think she had adopted a new way of singing in her upper register.
What I love about Patti LaBelle is that she is not threatened by other great talents. Her own gift is THAT big and she knows it. She can celebrate others -- because she knows that she is right up there with the best of them. We all need to surround ourselves with people like Patti LaBelle. ❤ I love Fantasia's soft and restrained singing voice here. Reminded me of Whitney. Whitney was known for power -- but she could also sing very softly if she wanted too. Dynamics, dynamics, dynamics. Love this 100% LIVE performance! Watch.
Patti is a legend and I doubt that she is threatened by any other good singer on or off stage with her. She holds her own and can out sing all of those ladies although they are fantastic too.
What a POWERHOUSE performance that was with those 5 beautiful black women on that stage! I haven’t seen something like that on TV in a long time. Thank you Mr. Byron Allen for bringing this together for us.
She's practically the only child in this stage and just like what mother and aunts do, they let her shine. They've had their time spanning decades of slayage, so Patti specifically let Jhud get her own.
This is a master class. I loved how she was singing behind the beat. Then she hit those high notes in her falsetto - she yanked every soul in the building. Brilliant. This whole thing is beautiful with these women who have different singing genres/styles and they are holding court. And let's not forget the background singers. They are holding the chorus down for them. Wow. Just Wow.
when Auntie Pattie hits them high notes and her voice starts soaring and scaling. I always increase the volume so that those pesky ass birds that nibble my grains and veggies in the garden can flock off . without a fail they flap their wings so fast as if they boutta die.
Thank you, Patti LaBelle, for taking such good care of yourself. I love hearing your beautiful voice. Fantasia's singing just continues to get better every year. Her voice is so rich in Superwoman.
I remember when Mariah Carey sang if you only knew my jaw dropped with those runs. Patti and Mariah have both great rendition of this wonderful song. The Queens.
Holy crap! Patti sounds better than ever at 78!?! That was crazy! So clear her vocals here. She had more gravel in her voice in the 90's! How has her tone become even MORE crystal clear?!
See how Jennifer was belting it and Patti ran around to put her in the centre?? Patti does not need to show such amazing support to the younger ones in the biz but she does and has for so long. Wouldn't fault her if she didn't, but gonna praise her for the fact that she does. An absolute legend, icon, and light ✨💖👑🎶🌻
It wasn't really that she wanted to put Jennifer in the centre. She had motioned the girls to all move forward, but Queen Latifah was still behind everyone so she went back to get her and ended up standing next to her. You can see what I am saying here in this unedited footage: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vH43nSaH1fg.html
Queen Latifah is not insecure, she was being gracious and respectful to the woman who had been honored. She obviously knows she has nothing to prove to anyone, no need to step on toes and high side.
@@FUNKYJU1CE I did without saying any names. When anyone is secure they can always step back and let another shine.. Oprah taught it and did it...I am 70 years young and I see with my ears.
She is "THE QUEEN" of belting nobody can beat her belts. They just blind sides you outta know where with so much power, consistency and melody(tone) they just melt you and make you say yasss!
That last note with her in falsetto while Jennifer was belting proves that a younger Patti would’ve drowned her out. Not making it a competition but just saying.
@@bmac2310 yesssss I swear I been saying this since I seen this performance!!! Pattis head note actually still drowned Jennifer’s belt. Which is why she started belting again like bump that let me try this again. 😅20 years ago Patti would’ve drowned the whole stage.
I cannot even explain how patty labelle makes me feel. seeing her in concert electrifying, Her voice both singing and speaking just lights my heart on the fire. truly a voice of an angel.
It's amazing how those Motown era artist still sound as good as they did back then. It's like listening to a CD. It was the same thing with Gladys knight. And so effortless. It speaks volumes to artists who took true artistry as a lifestyle.
She slayed her part and Fantasia is great but Not like Patti Labelle. Ms. Patti just got it like that and is a legend who paved the way for the other singers.
Something about when Fantasia sings it hits my soul. Her stage presence is what aways stands out to me. All the ladies did great. Mother Patti you are the bar. Thank you for all of your hardwork and longevity. 🤎
Patti is AMAZING!!! I love that she uplifts the younger girls. She love a girl that can sing her face off and that will show off what god gave them vocally.
Every last one of these ladies have blessed my soul with their vocals at different times in my life. Queen Latifah, JHud, Yolanda, Tasia and THE GREAT Miss Patti. What a blessing they all are. ❤️🙏🏽💐
I love in the video where Patti is encouraging one of them to take over the song. It's like she's trying to pass the vocal baton to the next generation. From the 6:00 mark on Fantasia and Jennifer show OUT!
if someone who can half-way sing, really wants to sing in a way that holds people's attention, all they have to do is listen to GREAT singing, enough to learn how to sing a little better. But singers like Patti LaBelle, are so rare and apart fromm the rest....here she is, pushing 80 yrs old, and she's still going from falsetto to 'high soprano' with ease. That IS NOT something that can be taught...thats just a talent that she was born with. This is why, she's become music royalty...because NO ONE sounds like her.
Patti led a healthy ass life. She looks AMAZING! I can only follow in her footsteps so I can enjoy my golden years and look 25 years younger than I actually am🥰
5 beautiful female vocals. They can sang ya'll. I love the love and respect that they showed to one another. Not trying to out sing or out do one another. And for Mrs. Patti to be able to still sing and deliver at the beautiful age of 78 is simply amazing. See what God can do. I loved this performance. All 5 DIVAS: Patti Labelle, Yolonda Adams, Queen Latifah, Fantasia and Jennifer Hudson. PURE PERFECTION!!!! Standing ovation!!!!👏🏽🥰⚘️❤️🙏🏽
"WOW" Patti's vocals are "Perfect" after all of these years, she took good care of her money maker and Jennifer H. vocals are superb! They all are Excellent!!!!!💖💖💖💖💖😊
My GOD! Now you know They sounded good… They got all the MEN in there jamming & singing “I’m Not your super woman”, that tells you those women voices can move you… The way Fantasia came in with that first verse, Whew, AMAZING! They ALL DID GOOD! It was like watching Patti sing with her 4 daughters! This was absolutely AMAZING! Whew!
