I have watched this video a thousand times. I still have it on VHS. The ending always brings me to tears because her ability to sing is understood. No one can touch her vocal power or runs but one needs to appreciate all the other things she is doing and when you realize it, what she does is beyond comprehension. She waves her hands, she wails, she roars, she moves and when she ascends those stairs in 7 inch heels like she is skipping rope on the playground, I am floored by her musical showmanship. All this energy and this is the end of the show! Good Lord! The entire stage is her prop: the mike, the band, the background singers and the ochestra, all bend to her will. She is like a hurricane. All that power, grace and beauty in 1 body. God made Patti and said, I am done. No more! Ever again! To be born in this time and to see and hear her thru the years, Lord I am beyond blessed!
Her gift truly comes from God our Father. Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of lights, in whom there is no shadow of turning. Of His own self, He begat us, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures. Amen.

Caught this tour in 1982 or 83, in St Louis, it was my first PL concert. Been a fan since. When she laid on the floor, and sang, I thought, this woman is amazing!!!! 35 years later still a fan for life! #HUTSPAH

I only seen Patti live once many years ago, i was young, but I don't remember seeing this kind of non stop energy and her carrying on like this. She made me tired just watching. I know she in her 70s now no wonder she stays in good shape and can still sing. Got to be active, you dont use it you lose it.
My mother had this on VHS when I first came out. I've watched & sung it so much that even when I hear the originals of some of the songs I can't help but sing it the way she sings on here.. *#Timepiece*
Patti’s exchange with that kid at 36.30 minutes when she hops toward him and does her head dance at him is so hilarious. The kid was like what should I do? I guess I’ll dance off of her. It was too funny!!!
This is Patti's best concert performance by far - I can't tell you how many times I've watched this show over the years - it brings me so much joy - Patti gives her ALL on stage & no one can touch her raw talent - she is in the spirit! This used to be only on VHS and I had to rent it over & over at the video store - I have it on Laser Disc but have no way to watch it on my TV - maybe I need to convert to DVD?

this whole video reminds me of my mother, she had this on VHS.....the video is one of many reasons why i became a bassist. because of the musicians in the back is why i'm a bassist today.... when i was little i used to get in front of the TV imitating one of the guitarist soloing with my toy guitar i got at toys 'r' us!!!

I love those diamond looking chandelier earings. I was going to buy some like that for my wife many years ago. but, we got divorced. Maybe I can get a Patti Miracle and get her back. I seen Patti sing to a Married couple once on Oparah because the Husband was a huge Patti fan. She was very customer service to them and classy but still showed him some Love. hisa wife set it up for a birthday present, very class act. She truly Loves her fans and gives them over 100 %. Much like Elvis Presley. I often think they would have a been a good duet. Elvis and Patti. They were both vocal composers and elvis sang a music he learned from growing up around black people. Maybe in heaven.
I remember seeing two versions of this very show back in 1984 (Circle Star Theatre, San Carlos, CA, 30± miles south of San Francisco), and then in 1985 across the S-F Bay in Oakland, CA. One of my top favorites features of the show(s) were Carla Benson, Yvette Benton, and Barbara Ingram, the Sweethearts of Sigma, on backup vocals. If you don't know who they are, look them up. They put Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia (and New York) ON THE MAP. These Studios are known best for Philadelphia International Records and Sal-Soul Records. They recorded backups and/or additional backups for Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, Teddy Pendergrass, Jean Carne, The O'Jays, Phyllis Hyman, The Spinners, Billy Paul, Lou Rawls, Loleatta Holloway, Double Exposure, The Tramps, The Sal-Soul Orchestra, The M-F-S-B Orchestra (Philly Int'l house band), Bunny Sigler, Barbara Mason, Blue Magic, Dee Dee Sharp, Margie Joseph, Jackie Moore, AS WELL as Patti LaBelle, during the Sigma Sound Studios hey-day. When the 1968 to 1983 Philly Sound came to a close (music was changing), the Sweethearts of Sigma - now THE SWEETIES - went on tour with various artists SUCH as Patti LaBelle and a few more, which finally garnered them exposure to the public BEYOND the recording studios. THEY ARE AN AMERICAN ICON and INSTITUTION!!! They are compared to the other TOP THREE background vocal groups: The Sweet Inspirations (with Cissy Houston, Whitney's mother), The Blossoms (with Darlene Love), and Motown's in-house backups, The Andantes. I am so glad I found this video. I had the original VHS years ago but it was so old it fell apart and will not work. Can't find this treasure on DVD any where I know of. But I am so glad to find it here. Dynamite stuff ! Patti at her best in her prime ! Does not get any better !
